Right there with ya. Seems like a lot of companies are realizing "Holy crap, some of our fans really love lore!"

Then there's Riot...

TBH what attracted me to LoL instead of Dota was the lore (and character design). Riot was definitely the front-runner in lore, but somehow they turned 180 degrees in that department and now competitors are catching up and overtaking Riot in its own game.

DotA actually aims to be vague, similar to that of Dark souls.

Someone also took the time to compile this http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=35923

After I read that, I realized just how weird their world was, it's actually really unique.

Valve has being doing this with Team Fortress 2 for YEARS.

THEY MANAGED TO GIVE A GAME WITH ABSOLUTELY NO STORY MORE LORE THAN NARRATIVE CURRENTLY DELIVERS HERE!

And with that even more character development...

Honestly Riot, a comic is the best and cheapest way to do things... it doesn't even have to be about a champion, it could be a romance set in a demacian town, a noir/crime thriller set in Zaun... Or a non-serious line called "For science!" featuring the smarter champs discussing how the magic/hextech works in Runeterra (because Riot still just says "Muh magics")

Another possibility would be a comic book that the people inside the world would read. Piltovian Superhero-comics for example!

And if you don't want only comic: NEWSPAPERS, LETTERS, FLYERS! - or other stuff from thw world. Not the yournal of justice, but something like this!

Random example from a webcomic

THE POSSIBLITIES ARE ENDLESS!

They feared people wouldn't like to read walls of texts... but animations and sound stuff is hard to make, expensive and takes a lot of time. So why not take the comic approach?

I will cite TF2 again....

Those comics are great. League can and should attempt something similar.

I think they could do an Anime. It would help them appeal to the Japaneses as well. And it would forever solidity their lore. They can put up comics and delete them if they change things. But they probably wouldn't put the cost for an anime then decide "oh lets pay for it again, but this time...".

If not oh well. I think most have given up on the lore anyway. It would take the extra effort to get people back.

I wonder if Smite hired the people from Dawngate to do this.

Kinda sucks that you need certain apps to read it,now I'll be only able to read it on my handy, which is kinda lame.

Well I'm giving it a shot,it remains to be seen how interesting its going to be.

That's why someone on the Smite Reddit decided to take the comic and just put it on imgur, ENJOY!
