The Sun and the Moon: Why an Eclipse is inevitable.
We all know and love Leona and Diana as two of the premier champions in their particular role sets (Leona: as the number one support as far as team fights and kill security go, Diana as the wicked witch of the west who can fill any role. Literally any. I've seen her adc before), but the best part about them is the fact that they are complete counterparts. Sustain vs. Demolish, Protect vs. Destroy, Solidarity vs. Vulnerability, etc. SUN V MOON. Cough. But you get the point, right? They are completely opposites and harmonize so well together, so I was a tad disappointed when Diana was released that there was such a lack of interaction between the two: No battle quotes, no threats, no in-game event like the Freljord Queen 
or the Hunt between 
and 
. It's things like this that really make the Lore of the Legends so involving, a promise Riot made to us when they basically said all previous lore had been tossed out and was no longer canon. They paved the way for new Legends to emerge.
So, there absolutely HAS to be some kind of SOMETHING between Leona and Diana. They are in no way the most important champions in the League, simply because they don't belong to Demacia, Shurima, or the Shadow Isles. They herald from Mt. Targon, a place we know very little about. But the idea of the Sun and the Moon is one that we bump into every day! Literally, look up! It's more relatable in our own world than that of a trident wielding fish, a nine-tailed siren, or a walking tree. So an interconnecting storyline between Leona and Diana is IMMINENT! Not simply, one is of the Sun Order, and the other a Heretic of the Moon. Oh yay, yippee, two characters with dull bakgrounds. WE NEED A WAR! A STAND OFF BETWEEN THE TWO! AN ECLIPSE!
What does this mean? Possible ICONS, SKIN IDEAS (I've dreamt of Solar Eclipse Diana, and Lunar Eclipse Leona, where the two incorporate their opposites into a legendary skin with an overall dark/bright theme, depending on the form of eclipse, a reimagining of each character in another light, pun intended), AN EVENT ON THE MAP SHOULD THE TWO FACE EACH OTHER, and anything else Riot can come up with. Maybe one day we can get more characters from the Iron Solari or the Lunari heretics. Who knows! BUT COME ON RIOT! YOU CAN'T NOT DO SOMETHING WITH THESE TWO ICONS OF LIGHT!
On a more, less capitals note, can we maybe turn Leona into NOT a support. Honestly, the whole vanguard, protector thing is great, but I see her having more potential as a Valkyrie of the Sun. A warrior with a short sword and smaller, rounder shield. A warrior goddess of the sun with character influences from Wonder Woman, the Amazonians in general! She can still bring support, but at least bring a visual upgrade where she isn't so clunky. An in your face, TAKE THAT, sun blast kinda gal. I mean, Diana wins by character design alone. >.>
