Rek'Sai is the first speechless champion.

She's still speaking though, in one form or another. We can hear and understand it. Which also goes along the lines that Rek'sai does in fact speak just not in something that we understand or take as a language.

Cause if they weren't speaking at all, then like you said there'd be no sound at all. So they still technically use a form of speech, just not a standard form.

But I wouldn't expect someone who takes a measured, carefully thought out personal concern and turns it into a one-liner to know about listening.

I turned it into a one-liner, but that doesn't mean I didn't think my response through or that I'm wrong, ipso facto. I actually wrote out a more measured response at first, then deleted it in favor of this because I think it got my point across better. My intent wasn't to dismiss your thoughts, so I apologize if it came across like that.

Listening is not slapping "she" on a male character.

I think the important piece here is that Rek'Sai doesn't have those defining female characteristics. That, just because you don't look like a typical female, doesn't mean you aren't one.

On the other hand, if Rek'Sai is basically a gender-neutral character, is there any harm in making her female? If nothing else, it seems to have made the community happy.

Listening would be taking that character and giving it some meaningful and defining female characteristics. Hell, Kog and Cho are both just as primitive and even they have VO lines that are distinct to gender.

I think one of the core things about Rek'Sai is that her VO consists entirely of Bestial sounds. What kind of female characteristics would you like to see Rek'Sai have?

I don't have a problem with her looking gender neutral, obviously I don't want a monster to have enormous cleavage. That's not what I'm saying. But female VO would have been very do able. Like I said, every other voidborn can speak to some degree that indicates gender, and the fact that the first female cant is very disappointing to me. I would have preferred they kept it male if they're just going to change he to she in the lore. Even like her guarding an eggsack for her recall or having tiny baby's skitter out of her burrow for her recall. SOMETHING. Even a larger abdomen which is typical of females in the insect kingdom. For me this might as well be taking Jinx and replacing she/her in her lore with he/him.

It's actually kinda funny you mention that as a smartass comment. I keep tarantulas so it actually in my best interest to know how to determine gender. And didn't I JUST mention that I obviously don't breasts on it? And didn't I just make the point that cho'gath, kog'maw, and kha'zix all have relatively human male voices for being insect related? That attention span though...Please keep going with you clever retorts of "no u".
