Why are the Taunts 100% generic?

By that, I mean why are /t taunts never based on any champions in sight range?

Yes, yes, it's more voice acting and more coding, but it would be so much cooler if there were a few taunts that would play specifically near certain opponents. We have the classic rivalries of Nasus and Renekton, Graves and Twisted Fate, Miss Fortune and Gangplank, Zed and Shen, Rumble and Heimerdinger, Jayce and Viktor, Katarina and Garen...I'm pretty sure there are others I could list, but I've made my point.

These already exist. /T with Garen near Katarina, and instead of saying "Hey look! I'm holding the world up", he starts counting his push ups and then says, "Oh, I didn't see you there..."

Most new champions have them, it's the old ones that haven't been updated that lack them.

Garen...new?

In any case, it's nice to know someone at Riot has mind-reading powers. Now if only they can manage to make it a wide-spread thing.

Garen has a few for Darius as well.

His taunts turn into "Darius, you are a butcher, not a general" and "Extend the hand of Noxus, pull back a stump". His joke also turns into "Darius, eat your heart out!".

It would be nice if there were more of course, but with each champion update that involves voice work they seem to be adding some.

many champions already have this off the top of my head: tahm ekko kalista graves braum gangplank nasus tristana vi gnar lucian sion trundle twitch

look them up on lolwiki on the background tab, somewhere in their voice clips you'll find their special taunts

Well he DID get an update a while back. Most new champs and UPDATED ones tend to get their taunts updated as well.
