Woods, the Scars of War

Description: I'm going to take a dark concept. This character is based on veteran soldiers from both World War I and II who suffer Post Traumatic Stress disorder. He is an old fighter marksman who has spent his entire life at war, dealing with danger on a daily bases. And not just any danger, but dangers from war, dead bodies left and right, more being rounded up, and Woods is expecting another ambush to happen and he's too ready for one to happen at anytime. Let's get in to details.

Stats: Attack - 75% Health - 40% Magic - 60% Difficulty - 80%

Attributes: Primary - Marksman Secondary - Fighter

Abilities: Passive - Panic attack

  • Primary> Woods gains 5% additional movement speed, attack speed, and ability casting speed for 10% of his missing health. The more health he loses, the more bonuses he gains. Regaining health however will reverse the effects.
  • Secondary> Woods is armed with a rifle with a bayonet attachment. Woods's ranged auto attacks will convert to melee auto attacks if his target is at melee ranged, dealing physical damage that's 20% more than his total attack damage

First Ability - Mills Bomb Woods takes a 1 second delay before tossing a hand grenade at a target direction, dealing physical damage to the first target it hits and lands where it stops up to its maximum range. The hand grenade detonates after 4 seconds after being thrown (Not upon landing), dealing magic damage to enemies within range of explosion.

  • When below 50% health, Woods will take half a second delay instead and throws the grenade harder, making it fly faster and further, dealing 20% additional physical damage to the first target it hits and also bonks their head and prevents them from attacking for 1 quick second. Detonation time, range, and magic damage remains the same however.

Second Ability - Service Revolver Woods switches from his bolt-action shooting rifle to his 6 shoot. His next 6 auto attacks will be quick auto attacks dealing physical damage and lowers their armor by 20% for 6 seconds. This ability will require Woods to move out of combat to finish its 6 second cool down time.

  • When below 50% health, Woods is able to switch to his Service Revolver 50% quicker and shoots 20% faster with a total round of 12 instead of 6. After the first 6 shots, Woods will reload his revolver automatically for 3 seconds but cannot attack while reloading.
  • If all health is lost, Woods bleeds out but will take the last stand and fire six more slow shots at targets in front of him within 8 seconds before dying. He can also die quicker if he is hit 3 times by enemy auto-attacks. (If under the effects of Zilean 's Chronoshift or item 3026 , it will not revive Woods if he is at his last stand. It will take effect after his last stand is finished)

Third Ability - Dual Purpose Combat Knife Woods switches from his bolt-action shooting rifle to his combat knife. While equipped, Woods is unable to use ranged attacks in exchange for additional attacks speed, 50% of his total attack speed, and deals 20% additional physical damage.

  • When below 50% health, Woods will gain double the attacks speed instead. 6 hits in a row on the same target will cause it to bleed out for 3 seconds. During those three seconds, that target will take 10% more damage from all sources.

Ultimate - Chemical Warfare Woods activates a mortar at his base that fires a barrage loaded with toxic gas at a location at a large radius. The time of landing depends on how far it has been shot from base. Everyone all across the map can hear the artillery shot. They can also hear how close the projectile is upon landing on its target location depending on how loud it sounds. The louder the projectile, the closer you are to its target landing point. Upon landing, the barrage bursts out a large radius of poisonous chemicals for 8 seconds, dealing magic damage overtime to everyone inside. That includes allied champions, minions, and the caster himself. Anyone inside the smoke have no vision at all and those who are outside the smoke cannot see anyone inside it, not even allies. (Smoke bombs during the World War period were banned due to the damage it causes even on the user's own units by poisoning them. Modern smoke bombs are used to only prevent enemy vision. So this ultimate is a mixture of both purposes. Its a mix of Graves 's Smoke Screen and Akali 's Smoke Bomb except with a poisonous touch and a large smoke radius, perhaps as big as Ziggs 's Mega Inferno Bomb) In order for Chemical Warfare to be used again, Woods must return to base to reload the mortar. The mortar will then take 30 more seconds to ready itself for the next shot.

Passive - Incoming Demacians! Panic Attack gives 10% bonus instead of 5% whenever an enemy Demacian is present

Synergy:

  • Works Well With Gangplank Chemical Warfare prevents enemies from seeing Gankplank's Cannon Barrage, making the enemies take damage without notice. Illaoi Leap of Faith will help prevent enemies from leaving the smoke while the tentacles continue to ambush the enemies as they helplessly try to leave the smoke. Braum If things get too harsh for the old veteran, Braum stands in front of Woods to defend him with his shield while Woods continues to shoot down the enemies with everything he's got. If he were to get even more stressed out, Braum's passive will take effect much faster since Woods could shoot 4 shots much faster with either his rifle or his revolver.

  • Struggles Against Kindred You are not able to kill people within the smoke while Lamb's Respite is active since it prevents anyone within range from dying. Not even his allies will die from friendly fire. It makes Chemical Warfare especially useless if used to finish off enemies with low health. Janna Janna's ultimate, Monsoon can actually blow the smoke clear, instantly disabling the effects of Chemical Warfare after it lands. It's nothing but fresh air afterwards for everyone. Teemo Blinding darts are a major hazard for Woods when it comes to his other abilities, all of which is more dependent on his auto attacks. If he's blinded, he won't land a single bullet. It'll add too much stress for the old man. It gets worse if he has to deal with detonating mushrooms all over his feet. It's like a minefield.

Tips: Playing as Woods -

  • Purposely try to take some damage to take advantage of your abilities' additional effects to keep up the pressure on the enemy.
  • If you are about to die, quickly activate Service Revolver before you take your last hit. This is so you can return as much fire as possible with a better chance of taking enemies down with you.
  • Use Chemical Warfare as an initiator of team fights or as a last resort in case you are losing team fights. You have a different timing depending on the distance from the Mortar.
  • Chemical Warfare should be used sparingly when outside the base. You cannot shoot a second one until you reload the mortar.

Playing against Woods -

  • Get clear of the smoke immediately after it lands on your position. Recommend towards your base or away from enemies' last seen position.
  • Don't underestimate Woods as he takes damage. He gets faster the more he gets hurt.
  • Keep your distance when fighting Woods. He is more dangerous when up close unless your melee champion can perform faster attacks than Woods.
  • Pay attention to the sound of the mortar's round after hearing the shot. Turn the other direction if the sound gets louder as you move along your path.

Lore: Woods was once a young candidate for an elite force within Noxian's military, but instead of fighting with blades like the rest of his comrades, Woods was being trained to use fire arms that were developed and traded by Noxus's ally nation of Zuan. They were planning on experimenting with a new weapon and find ways of how Woods can use it in the battlefield. Before doing so, they wanted to train Woods to be the best soldier ever made.

The project was simple: They train Woods as a child, strictly teaching him how to fight on a daily basis. It was torture for Woods. He couldn't catch a break from his training. He's barely able to get a descent meal and enough sleep. There was no time for enjoyment at all. Just him in combat with some guns loaded like the soldier they needed him to be.

By the time he was an adult, he was deployed into the battlefield to fight off against Demacian invaders. After years of torturous training, it paid off. Woods was able to survive the battle with only scratches and minor scars. He fought well in combat with a large body count. He became what Noxus wanted and continued to deploy him in more elite missions where dangers are greater.

Woods spent his whole life fighting. As he got older, he was getting more stressed than ever. As soon as he retired at the age of 45, he took a trip to a more peaceful place to finally enjoy life for what its worth. He didn't realize at the time that he took his trip to Demacia. He only heard it was a wonderful place to continue his life. It was unfortunate for him however.

During his vacation, a couple of kids wanted to prank the old man. They knocked over a couple of pots above which was something they shouldn't have done. They didn't realize that Woods was armed. Woods panicked, thinking he was being attacked and he aims his revolver above where the pots were thrown. He fires all six of his rounds at the children. The two pranksters were shot and killed, falling off the roof. Woods was breathing heavily as people around him ran. He was losing his mind. He fired his gun like crazy. When Demacian guards tried to seize him, a bunch of them were shot and killed until the higher ranks were able to restrain him. The remaining guards recognized him from the way he shoots and the way he fights. He was taken prisoner for interrogation. The prince of Demacia himselfJarvanIV interrogated Woods. Woods was still panicking and couldn't calm down. It was up to the point where Woods could have a heart attack. Doctors were called to treat him.

They learn that Woods was suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. From the looks of Woods's current state, it was critical. They had no choice but to take him to an insane asylum and get professional treatment. Unfortunately, there was no cure for Woods. He had to live the rest of his life traumatized from the experience. They sent him to the Institute of War. The summoners had a plan for Woods to ensure the safety of others. Woods was being sent as a competitor in the League of Legends so that he was expecting another deployment ordered by Noxus. He will have to live the rest of his life in battle and die violently over and over again. Even in death due to old age, who knows if his spirit will continue to fight in fear.

"This soldier has fought his whole life without rest. There is no way he will ever find peace even in death," - Jarvan IV during Woods Interrogation

Appearance: Woods wears a World War theme'd set of clothing with Noxian color designs on it. His weapons also look World War like but with Zuan's technological colors. The Chemical Warfare gas are colored green and fades once the effects are finished.

Skins:

  • Omega Squad Woods
  • Toy Gunner Woods

Quotes: Upon Selection - "Send me on a mission, Boss!"

Attacking - "Fire at will!" "Fire! Fire!" "Eat this!" "Suppress fire!" (When below 50% Health) "I'm not gonna last." "Stay back, damn you!" "You'll never take me alive!" "Back away! I'm armed!"

Movement - "Where to?" "Affirmative." "Moving in." (When below 50% Health) "[Heavy Breathing]" "I need a medic. . . now. . ." "I need a break. . ."

Recalling - "Returning to base" (When below 50% health) "I need treatment, ASAP."

Taunt Demacian - "DEMACIAN!" "It's a damn Demacian!"

Taunt - "You want some of this? Come on! I ain't got all day!" "I'll kill you with a shovel if I have to!"

Joke - "Huh? What was that? What's going on? Who's there? [Gasp] My fly's untied! [Zips up] No one saw that!"

When hit by traps - "I'm on a mine field!" "Ambush!" "I'm stepping on a mine field!"

Upon Death with Service Revolver - "I'm. . . not done. . . yet. . ." "You're coming. . . with me. . ." "I'm not dead yet. . ." "This one's for the victor. . ."

Well, that's all I have for now. I hope you like the concept and I'm opening for changes and suggestions and thoughts. Go ahead and let me know down below. I'll be happy to read them.
