[November MCCC] Bereghost, the Unwinder
Bereghost, the Unwinder
All is seriously pending.
I do have a brief teaser, though!
Tick... tock...
I slip, languidly, between the moments, as time is devoured before the second hand of a clock. How long have I drifted, lost to this fugue? I do not know, nor do I want to. Such knowledge would crush a lesser man - I feel that, if I were to know, I'd merely weep.
Tick... tock...
This ephemeral haze grants me brief glimpses into the waking world. I find reality to be a distorted mess of abstract concepts when viewed in this manner. Lives, fresh and pure, turning to dust in seconds. Are these visions of things that have happened? More to the point, are they things that are coterminous with what I know? Are these realities I have lived? Through this silvery haze, I wonder.
Tick... tock...
If time is a series of causes and events, what lead to my predicament? What fickle god have I angered? What fickle god must I appease for a reprieve? A mere heartbeat's worth of time outside this storm of moments would be... incredible. I want for nothing else.
Tick... tock...
Do I have a body, or am I merely thought? Wrapped in a gauzy, ethereal mist, I can't be sure. I am numb to the world.
Tick... tock...
One thousand, seven hundred and thirty four... one thousand, seven hundred and thirty five...
Tick... tock...
One million, seven hundred and fifty eight thousand, three hundred and two... one million, seven hundred and fifty eight thousand, three hundred and three...
Tick... tock...
Four billion, seventeen million, three hundred and fifty five thousand, two hundred and one... four billion, seventeen million, three hundred and fifty five thousand, two hundred and two...
Tick... tock...
Nine hundred and ninety nine quintillion, nine hundred and ninety nine quadrillion, nine hundred and ninety nine trillion, nine hundred and ninety nine billion, nine hundred and ninety nine million, nine hundred and ninety nine thousand, nine hundred and nine... what comes after that? Is it sextillion? No, no... one a... two a... three a...
Tick...
Huh? I... I feel warm.
Tock...
Hot... it's getting... hot?
Tick...
It's so hot! Why is it so hot?!
Tock...
It burns! Fire, it hurts!
Tick...
I clench my fists and I feel the nails of my fingers bite into the palms of my hands. I feel! Have I for so long drifted that the heat was sensation?! My nerves screaming out after centuries of disuse? I thrash against the pain of burning pins and needles, but I pause with realization. I glance down - I glance down - and my body... I have a body! My lungs ache and I let out a breath of stale air.
Tock...
I thrill at the sensations I experience. I bite my hand until I bleed, and then I let it heal. Time is an interminable thing, and I still drift. Part of me knows that I have lived before, that I have felt all these experiences and so many more, but... but I relish each jolt of pain from muscles that I have not used in far too long.
Tick...
Memories, jagged and broken, flicker through my mind. They are of me! Have I drifted for so long that I marvel at the man I was?
Tock...
I do not age. My hair and fingernails do not grow. I do not hunger or thirst, and I wonder why I can again feel, if there is nothing to feel.
Tick...
I watch the flickering images of the man who I was, and I wait.
Tock...
Time continues to pass, or fail to pass. I cannot be sure.
Tick... tock...
... five hundred and thirty eight thousand, five hundred and six... g... five hundred and thirty eight thousand, five hundred and seven... g...
A CHALLENGER APPEARS: Bereghost, the Unwinder
"I will escape. I will escape. This, I swear. And I will have my vengeance on whoever trapped me in this hell. I will rip them from history's weave and erase their very existence!"
Name: Bereghost Holcroft Title: Unwinder Affiliation: Urtistan Age: Variable. Physically, he has the appearance of a twenty year old. Mentally, he has lived for a length of time outside the realms of understanding. He has been trapped in the timeways for trillions of years. Gender: Male Species: Human Weapon: Temporal Breaking Class: Fighter/Mage Appearance: Before the hell that was being trapped in a moment in time for countless years, he was an average youth. Sandy blonde hair, twinkling blue eyes, a ready smile(with one maxillary lateral incisor missing, which he lost when he was a teenager in a fist fight with another boy), and a keen mind for science. It was his greatest mistake when he apprenticed under Zilean.
Now, however, his hair lacks luster, and the twinkle is long gone from his eyes. He views the world through a cynical tint, hardened and weary, and a bit unhinged. During his tenure in the timeways, he took to counting to pass the time. After reaching the quintillions and forgetting what came next, he started over again. And again. And again. The second or third time, he took to carving the numbers into the flesh of his left arm, leading to a network of criss-crossing scars and angry red flesh. His left arm is now a sleeve of self-inflicted numerical gouges in his flesh. He wears a black long-sleeved shirt, torn at the shoulder on his left side, decorated with dark red embroidery. His pants are unremarkable - the baggy fashion favored by people of the Urtistani deserts.
When he attacks, he does so through his left arm, manipulating and expunging the years of temporal energy imbued in his being. To the untrained eye, he is merely shaky. To a keen observer, though, he seems to shift and fade from view, his body still not entirely soundly rooted in the present time. He is dangerously unhinged, vengeful, and unpredictable.
ABILITIES:
Passive: Turn Back the Clock - Bereghost receives Movement Speed for each Cooldown Reduction Percentage he has.
Q: Unwind – Bereghost laces his right hand in temporal energy, empowering his next auto attack with increased magic damage. Additionally, each of Bereghost’s abilities cooldowns is decreased by 1 / 1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 seconds, and his opponents cooldowns are increased by 1 / 1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 seconds as the energy warps their perceptions of time’s passage.
If Bereghost Unwinds a Timebroken opponent, they are afflicted with a minor slow, and Bereghost is buffed with a movement speed increase. If Unwind is used to strike a Timebroken opponent stuck in the Passage of Time, they are instead stunned.
W: Between the Seconds – Passive: Bereghost’s basic attacks apply Timebreak to opponents for one second. Bereghost’s abilities receive benefits if they are used on Timebroken opponents. This debuff cannot be refreshed while it is active.
Active: Bereghost dodges the next basic attack, or nullifies the next ability used within .2 / .4 / .6 / .8 / 1 second, as he shifts forwards in time.
E: Passage of Time - Bereghost exerts his influence over an area. While within this area, enemies are slowed and allies are sped up. Unwinding increases the duration of the Passage of Time by 2 seconds. Additionally, Between the Seconds' active's duration is increased by 1 second while Bereghost is within the radius of PoT. Additionally, Between the Seconds's passive effect's duration is increased by 1 second. Time is slowed locally in the Passage of Time, giving Bereghost a greater grace period to strike.
R: Time Vault - Bereghost can only use this ability when a Timebroken opponent is stuck within the Passage of Time. Using this causes the Passage of Time to -stall- in the area affected. For two seconds, any opponent stuck within the Passage of Time is stunned for 2 seconds and dealt moderate magic damage.
