Hey Rito, it's your ever-thoughtful friend XIXInvictusXCI back again with another champ concept idea, this time for Volibear.

I read a recent question on AskRiot about Voli in regards to how you felt about him, in which you stated: "Volibear has a kit that causes him to be pretty one-dimensional and see wildly variant success between high-skill and low-skill play—he can be performing reasonably well at lower skill levels while underperforming pretty dramatically at higher ones. Because of these factors, he can take time to do good work on, even in the short-term. Doing “good work” on Volibear entails trying to design more skilled play into his pattern, and so we don’t necessarily just see buffing him as a good change."

Now, I've toyed around with concept ideas about him that would give him that Thunder Lord feel, while also possibly opening him up for a gameplay change that would make him more fun/multidimensional. My first thought was giving him a spear or harpoon made of lightning. Visually, this gives him that Majestic Ruler kind of look and feel, and ties in the lightning aspect for him. As far as gameplay, you could do any number of things with it:

Idea 1: After hitting an enemy champ with x number of abilities or basic attacks, Voli's next attack will be extended in range and will flip the target over him. The visual for this attack could be his spear thrusting forward and tossing them up over. Now that leaves his Q charge and flip open to some change. Maybe instead of a flip, he charges and does a leap where he stuns the enemy if he lands on them.

Idea 2: I really like the idea of changing his R to be empowered versions of his Q, W, and E, with lightning visual effects and increased damage. So, his ulti Q would give him more ms, or the effect would last longer, and the flip damage does some extra. His Ulti W could stun enemies when you bite, or reduce their armor/magic resist. I personally like the idea of gaining permanent health when you bite, maybe 5 per, 10 for ulti W. And his Ulti E could have a wider AOE range. Not sure what numbers would be appropriate for each change, just wanted to plant the ideas in the ground for now. Thanks Rito!
