I made this concept with very little time, due to school and all the fun things that come along with it, so it won't be perfect. But don't worry, if you've got any constructive criticism, feel free to leave it below! Also check out the other entries into the contest here!

#Lore:

Many think of the Marshes of Kaladoun to be a terrifying and wretched place, and all agree it would be insane to call it a home. However, a long oral tradition passed down from ancient ancestors claims that there is one being who does live in such an unforgiving place: Scath. For a long time, there was no evidence to support this; it was just an old tale. However, this old tale was enough to explain the occasional disappearance of townspeople overnight. The beast never hunted in daylight, accounting for the lack of valid reports on his existence. The ancient peoples made estimates on Scath’s appearance. When Scath would occasionally leave a body behind, there would be large gashes in the abdominal area, suggesting he might have large claws. Reports of similar incidents from around the continent of Valoran suggested he had wings for easy travel. The paralyzed look of fear on many of Scath’s dead victims faces lead the people to believe that he was, truly, truly terrifying.

In an effort to stop Scath from ravaging the villages of Valoran, the people began to leave carcasses outside of the village every night to please his hunger. Eventually, every settlement on Valoran picked up on the practice, and soon enough the mysterious overnight disappearances stopped. However, as time went on, the newer people went back to the original belief that Scath was just a legend. The nightly sacrifices began to slow to an eventual halt, when the last of the people who truly believed in Scath were wiped out, and the reports of people going missing overnight began to come up again.

Horrified, the Institute of War looked through their archives, hoping to find an answer to these mysterious disappearances. One summoner came across old recordings of Scath and his destruction and brought it to public attention. After studying the ancient texts, the Institute enlisted the help of Vayne and set off to put Scath’s reign to an end. The group set up an ambush around a plentiful pile of dead bodies, and waited for the night to come. Eventually, Scath descended from the sky above the pile, and as he was about to start taking the bodies back to his lair, Vayne executed the ambush. Scath was caught completely by surprise, and offered very little retaliation. Vayne wanted to end Scath’s life on the spot, but the elder summoners had the idea to let Scath join the League of Legends as a punishment for his crimes against Valoran throughout the years. However, if Scath were to devour any living thing outside of the Fields of Justice, then Vayne would be given the authority to kill him. Scath reluctantly agreed, but he was happy that he didn’t have to bring his mother into this mess.

#Description:

Scath is a large, lizard-like creature with a pair of wings sprouting out of his back. His two front legs have large talons coming out of his toes, looking freshly sharpened but still have some blood stains on them. His skin is scaly to the touch, and is a dark blue, allowing him to blend into the night sky. Scath’s tail comes to a point made out of his scales and could likely impale someone unfortunate enough to get too close to him. His eyes are green, but looking into the seemingly normal eyes can make even Tryndamere wet his pants. His jaw is lined with countless pointed teeth, and a few are missing, perhaps from overindulging himself once or twice.

Scath attempts to eat a unit, dealing more damage the more health they are missing. Additionally, if they are killed by Devour, Scath will regain some health.

Scath attempts to eat target enemy unit, dealing 75 / 125 / 175 / 225 / 275 (+ 40% Bonus AD) damage, which is increased by 1% for each 1% of health the enemy is missing. If the unit is killed by Devour, Scath regains 8% / 9% / 10% / 11% / 12% of his max health instantly.

Scath flies into the sky and lands at target 500-range area after 2.5 seconds, dealing 20% / 25% / 30% of Scath’s max health as physical damage. The enemy unit closest to the center of the impact is stunned for 2 seconds, while the remaining units in the area are slowed by 45% / 55% / 65% for 2 seconds.

Movement:

-That’s not the ground that’s rumbling…. -I’m going… reluctantly…. -The hunger pangs are kicking in…. -Soon, stomach. Soon. -The only time you’ll hear me coming is when my stomach’s empty.

-Some people might say I’m… a momma’s boy.

#Skin Ideas:

-Volcanic Scath What if Scath lived in an active volcano instead of a marsh? He’d be on fire, obviously. And now he can cook his own food :D

-Battlecast Scath It looks like Viktor has taken a liking to Scath’s monstrousness, and has added him to his Glorious Evolution. He’d get an all new, fully mechanical body with a mechanical-sounding filter to his VO.

#Trivia:

-Scath is heavily inspired by Grendel, a monster from the ancient epic poem Beowulf. -”Scath” is Irish for shadow, because Grendel is believed to translate to something along the lines of “shadow walker.” (I tried to translate it into Gaelic, but I couldn’t find anything reliable, so I figured Irish would work just fine) -The idea for Scath came from the idea, “What if Grendel was a motha f-ing dragon?”
