fwiw the green atlantean syndra was pretty damn good as it was too... the reasoning is it looks better. The green is evocative of more coastal waters with murky mossy/seawead depths, where underground cities might be collecting light, than the dark blue ocean. blue is just another blue, primary skin imo.
So, when Syndra gets a texture 'rebalance', make her Atlantean skin green again................................................

Unless this is a rare case for some reason, I can tell you that many people including me who play Syndra agreed that when it was released it felt washed up. When the splash art came out, the mass majority of the community agreed for a petition to change her in game colors to look like her splash mainly because the greenish tint made her look like she came out of the sewers.
If this is a response to the Blood Moon Elise changes and how people want to change her back to pink, I think you are comparing two different scenarios. The Blood Moon Elise debate from what I see on the forums seems to average out on both sides with a small favor for Red. Personally I think if it comes this close, Riot should definitely consider doing a recolor skin tier for skins including classic skins in order to provide more variety.

I never said your post was not thematically correct. Scientifically it makes more sense than the deep blue she has now like you mentioned:
I was merely taking the issue from an aesthetic point of view. There was more than enough people who wanted a pure blue water scheme which made a good petition to propose a change in color. I've never seen a single person anywhere who thought otherwise even after the skin was released. And when I said it was washed out it really felt like it, probably because the texture was really bad and unreadable. When she does get a texture update if you really want her to go back to green I suggest making a petition explaining how the TU would make green Atl Syndra look better than the pure blue people have petitioned in the past. Riot won't simply change colors for just one person, especially a person who doesn't play Syndra.

Players didn't like karma changed, but they went ahead and did it. The same approach could be taken for Atlantean Syndra...."ok players, we thought about it and blue doesn't fit. qq away. it's green now bc it's better." If I'm right about it, it shouldn't matter who says it or why.

Riot will ignore the community if they think they know better (such as the move to the boards from GD), changing the color of a skin is not one of those times. If people want it a different color who is Riot to say no? We are the ones buying it and if its widely agreed to be ugly then they will lose money. Comparing this to the Karma situation is impossible, they are two different problems.
Take the Blood Moon Elise skin, i think its widely agreed it doesnt fit the Blood Moon theme and changing it red does not make it look any better. Some think it looks better pink, some think it looks better red. Personally (and from many posts ive seen i know im not alone on this) idc what color it is i think it needs a name change, it absolutely in no way fits the Blood Moon theme. Riot changed it to red because people asked and now im pretty sure they might change it back to pink because a lot more people are asking, seriously it just needs to be released under a different theme.
