The Hobbit: Desolation Of Smaug Banner Shows Off Elves, Dwarves, A Wizard And More - CINEMABLEND

Idea for the Champion: Madred; a Hybrid Attack Damage/Ability Power Fighter/Mage.

This idea sprouted from the fact I think Riot should make some champions based on established lores using their surname titles. If Azir is "The Emperor of the Sands", & Thresh is known as "The Chain Warden", why not have a champion's title read "The Ruined King", especially since it would make sense if their weapon was featured in-game which is named after them.

Thus I bring you Madred. He was the king of the Shadow Isles, spoken about by the alters, whose only trace left behind was his sword known as the Blade of the Ruined King. He vanished long ago and he's considered a myth except by those old enough to have lived in his time.

  • Fun concept, he may be related to Karthus (Great Great Great Grandfather to him like Azir is to Sivir) / OR Grandfather/Father of Sion; Either way, he was the King of the Shadow Isles, and like Azir, is returning to take back his thrown.

Disclaimer:

  1. I don't know the Shadow Isle lore too well, so if we aren't given a name of whom ever dethroned the King of the Shadow Isles, maybe that can be another future champion!
  2. I chose "Madred" because "Madred's Bloodrazor's" used to be an item in season 3 before reworked into "Blade of the Ruined King". Also, Bloodrazor is back as a jungle item, so a figured why not make a champion that may benefit off of both, making them both his main items BUT with a twist, making him a hybrid mage, thus making him sorcerer-like! (Imagine the likeness of a Karthus & being a bit more bulky like Zed's frame, but dressed more royally yet with Shadow Isles influence. So a mash up Gandolf (as pictured in the link of) from the Lord of the Rings with influence of a Ring Wrath, as well as the Ghost King from the third movie!.

Abilities:

Passive: Conquered Land: When jungling, every camp taken in the jungle grants 5/10/15 extra gold when taken down after the first time. When In lane, every 10 minions that have been slain, allows Madred to summon an extra canon minion to help push the lane. This minion can't be killed, but has a decaying lifespan of 7 seconds. While the resurrected minion is active, Madred gains +15 AP & AD.

Q: Wrath of the Sovereign: 13 second cooldown. Madred has the option of sending out 2 skill shots before the ability goes on cooldown, like a Vel'Koz's "Void Rift". Upon first activation, the ability toggles through both options (like Twisted Fates "Pick a Card" does) between the Attack Damage portion from his right hand, or the Ability Power portion from his left hand. Upon the second activation, you choose which you'd like to do first! If chosen the right handed attack, Madred will attack from his right sided holding his B.o.R.K sword, and does flat Attack Damage w/ a small amount of Armor Pen. If you chose the left handed attack, this skill shot comes from his left side where he holds his Scepter, and deals flat Ability Power w/ a small amount of Magic Pen. He may position the skill shots in any direction, for both are separate from each other.

W: Warlord/Sorcerer : When toggled off and "Warlord" is active, Attack Damage Items grant 4/5ths Attack Damage, and convert 1/5th of the Attack Damage into % Attack Speed. (Example: B.o.R.K's 25 Attack Damage & 40% Attack Speed turns into 20 Attack Damage & 45% Attack Speed); When toggled on and "Sorcerer" is active, Ability Power Items grant 4/5s their AP but convert the 1/5th AP into % Life Steal. (Example: Nashor's Tooth which originally does 80 Ability Power & 50% attack speed would do 64 AP, but the difference of 16 would be given to him as 16% Life Steal! And that's before you apply the extra AP damage from the passive of Nashor's Tooth! OR If that idea is too wordy, than have his Attack Damage Items grant 20% of their Attack Damage as 20% Attack Speed (without deduction). While his Ability Power Items have 15% of their Ability Power added on as 15% Life Steal; (I think this would be a simpler idea with less math!) If this were the case,

  • 20% of B.o.R.K's 25 Attack Damage (being 5) is added onto the Attack Speed, not deduction from B.o.R.K's Attack Damage, but finding out the percentage and just adding it to Attack Speed. Thus making it 25 Attack Damage & 45% Attack Speed instead of 25 Attack Damage & 40% Attack Speed.
  • 15% of the 80 AP from Nashor's Tooth (which is 12%) would be the amount of Life Steal granted from this item if done this way, essentially allowing Madred to convert 15% of any Ability Power Item's Ability Power into additional Life Steal!

E: Battlefield: 35 second cooldown. For 3/3.5/4/4.5/5 seconds, the enemies team's Attack Speed is lowered by 15%, Movement speed is decreased and like Nasus' W "Wither", the slow may increases as the duration continues. If more than 1 enemy is caught in the AOE, the slow is lowered by 12.5% per each additional enemy. Lastly, may apply Grevious Wounds, to the first enemy casted on. This area of effect light-CC ability that acts like a reverse of Trundle's W. decreasing the enemy's Attack Speed, Movement Speed, and one of the Enemies healing.

R: Life Shaver: 80 second cooldown. For 5/6.5/8 seconds, it Increases Madred's Attack Speed and Life Steal by 25%/30%/35% (Like Kog'Maw, may break the Attack Speed cap while activated) while draining 1.5% of health per second. (Almost like a mini Sion Passive) Another form of this idea, is can also make this a toggled ability rather than have it be a flat 5 second active, like an Aatrox W, but it drains life like Dr. Mundo's W while active. Last idea, you could have it be set only for the next 6 attacks (like a Rek'Sai Q when not borrowed does 3 faster attacks). It could gain the buff of 30% Attack Speed & Life Steal at the cost of 5% of current health during that duration!

Idealistic Most effective build:

  1. Skirmisher's Sabre: Bloodrazor / Warrior
  2. Boots of Lucidity / Ninja Tabi / Merc Treads
  3. Blade of the Ruined King
  4. Nashor's Tooth
  5. Spirit Visage
  6. Hextech Gunblade

Other Options: Triforce, Guinsuu's Rageblade, Guardian Angel

The idea is to really want the 3 core items, a pair of boots, and than to build two tank items. I recommend Spirit Visage because the healing, and maybe a Sunfire cape, because you're going to be in the middle of the battle a lot. I'd say he plays a bit like Aatrox with his Q & W; has his E almost like a Trundle W, and his Ult is made for when he's less than 1/2 health, stylized to heal him back for more than his health decays over the period of time (unless he isn't hitting anything).

Really nice idea. But that ult could be exploited for top lane dominence or just jungle out right boss mode. Love the concept though :) no conplaints there

I'll update you on the lore of the shadow isles, its really simple.

There was once an un-named king who had a considerable empire. He had a queen. Kalista was his general, and Hecarim was a high-ranking person in the military, in charge of a group called the Iron Order or something like that. Kalista guarded the king and queen, but one day, an assassin was attempting to kill the king, and kalista diverted the attack, but the queen was hurt rather than the king. The queen had been poisoned and would soon die. The king sent Kalista in search of an antidote. During her travels, the king went mad as the queen slowly faded away. He commanded Hecarim to do a lot of killing (Hecarim was also salty that he was not sent to find the antidote, taking it an insult to his honor.) because he was going CRAZY. Kalista soon found the Blessed Isles, which said they could cleanse the queen, but not bring her back to life if she died. However, before she could return with news, the queen died. The King ordered Kalista to take her to the isles, but she refused remembering the words of the elder she spoke to on the blessed isles. She was named a traiter and imprisoned. However, Hecarim (who was looking for a way to up his favor with the king) convinced her to just allow the king to bury his wife there and be at peace. Kalista was grief-struck and agreed. So she took the king to the isles. They came across the guardians of the isles, but the king ordered the guardian to revive his wife. They refused, saying that it was against nature's order. The King ordered kalista again, but kalista refused and stood between the guardians and the king. She asked hecarim to join her, and he did, but then he stabbed her and killed her, along with her crew. Hecarim proceeded to kill the inhabitants of the isles on the king's command. They soon found thresh and thresh told them how to bring the queen back. However, when the queen was brought back, she was like a zombie. And the king cast a spell to instead bind them together for eternity and killing them both. HOWEVER, the magic of the island increased the spell 10x and corrupted the cycle of life and death, twisting the isles into the shadow isles, where the dead walk.
