[Champion Idea] Jaun, The Day's End

Jaun was brought up in a family of very average folk. He however was different. He was discontent with the normal, day to day job and requirements that one fell into while being “normal.” He longed for something exciting throughout his youth, hearing stories of far off places and wondrous items found in those places that were constantly worthy of praise. When he was finally old enough, he ventured out to become an explorer, his idol being none other than the most renowned explorer to date, Ezreal. He wished nothing more than to gain even a sliver of the glory that young Ezreal had, and so he pressed out into the world.

Over time he’d made his own small discoveries, but he made no amazing leaps. Rather than finding anything brand new, he mostly ended up adding to the exploration already done by previous explorers before him, and so he gained no glory, only adding to the glory others held themselves. Time and time again his findings were added into the idea of, “He just found it thanks to the previous explorer’s findings.” He was still compensated, but that meant nothing to him. He needed something that no one else had been across before, and he travelled all across Runeterra to find something he could claim as his own findings.

His searching and constant refinding slowly turned his mind from trying to gain just a little glory, to being the most renowned explorer in Runeterra. To him, it was the only way he could gain the recognition needed to be like Ezreal, who over time he’d come to consider his rival. His wandering and searching for something great lead him to the fabled Mount Targon, a place where magic and mystery were abundant. Of course, being to the same places that everyone knew meant nothing to him. He ignored the ruins and scattered towns that were known, heading up the mountain in search of something he knew nothing of, and that no one else could hope to lay claim to. There had to be something on the treacherous mountain, and he had to be the one to find it.

As he climbed and climbed, he found less and less ruins and even less areas where people could live, but learned more about the mountain itself and the myths behind its peak. Hearing about what making it to the top could mean, he readied himself and struck off up the mountain, searching for the one thing he needed to set his name in that immortal stone of the other famous explorers.

He worked his way up the deadly mountain, braving obstacles and fighting the madness of the mountain’s mist and deadly cold. He kept himself vigilant, looking for anything he could grab and take back, but he found nothing but the mountain as he walked. He travelled for what seemed like days, slowly running out of food and water, and the starvation and dehydration started letting in the madness. Finally he made it to the top, the revered peak of Mount Targon, only to find an expanse of desolate ruins. He searched desperately, but found nothing. No artifacts of any kind.

Finally broken, he collapsed from exhaustion, unable to even scream in anger and frustration. As he glanced off the side of the peak, over the clouds to the horizon, he saw the Sun setting, and knew it was over. Before he could give up completely however, something strange happened. He thought he was hallucinating as he saw a wondrous city materialize before his eyes. Spires reaching high into the sky, even further than Mount Targon did itself. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing, and as the last rays of sunlight arced from the horizon, a brilliant ray of bright red light caught him.

He screamed in pain as the ray of light seemed to sear his blood, making him collapse in pain and pass out. He laid still for a day, his body steaming against the cold, and at the next sunset, he awoke. He was barely able to stand and move, unable to recall anything but the basics about himself, the reason he was there, and what had happened just before he blacked out. His mind was also plagued by memories that were not his own. Memories too old and too many to be one person’s.

As he stumbled down back down the mountain, his mind calmed, still repeating aloud the information he was able to remember of himself. On his way down, he realized the mountain had changed when he found an old, unmarked ruin. Curiously he walked inside and found a stone coffin which he cautiously opened to find a suit of brilliant and shining red armor. Driven by some force inside himself, he donned the armor, and found it calmed the thoughts racing around his mind.

He continued more surely down the mountain now with a clear head, the armor fitting him more perfectly than any clothing could. He worked his way to the highest Solari town that he had left. Thinking nothing of how he looked, he came running, exhausted and hoping to find a place to rest. He was however met with weapons, and caution. When asked what he was, he flawlessly repeated what had been his mantra till he’d found the armor, and this brought a stir of voices and muttering and he was rushed to see Leona.

She questioned him about what had happened, and as he answered, he realized what he was saying was probably not great news. She told him that he had to stay, and that he needed to learn of their religion. She apologized for how abrupt this decision was being put on him, but he had been brought into something far beyond anything he could control. His response surprised her as he readily agreed, seeing a chance to finally make his name known. Maybe not as an explorer, but as a hero of Runeterra.

Time passed and he studied and trained in fighting with the Solari, being taught how to focus his newfound power, which for some reason manifested as a red mist that created any weapon he could imagine, but he tended to favor a rifle, rather than striving to get up close and personal as many Solari did with spears and swords. However, the more harshly he was pushed in using his powers, the harder it became to deal with the memories that made him go off balance and become unable to even walk. Over time he found a nice balance, and now he uses his expertise with his crystal, energy shooting rifle to aid the Solari in the defense of their towns.

“I’m sure he will have a big part to play in the end, but will he be the one to end it for us, or them?” Leona

Description Jaun is a mid range marksman whose kit specializes in synergizing and team fights rather than one on one battles. He has a strong mid to late game, while a fairly weak laning phase. Also, while he has great burst potential thanks to his AD scaling, but he’s not exactly a hyper-carry. His kit and potential to build into outrageous damage is what will leave your opponents only seeing red.

Suggested stats to build: Large AD items, and Resistances

Abilities Passive: Whispers of the Past- Jaun’s mind is permanently addled by the memories of the Aspect within him, and the more abilities he chains together in succession, the closer he comes to becoming disorientated. (Every ability has low costs and low damage scaling until he is on the verge of becoming disorientated, which causes the last ability he used to become empowered. Using that ability will then Disorientate Jaun and either Silence, Slow, or Stun him, while also dealing massive damage, so it’s important not to miss.) [The Disorientation debuff scales downward at levels 6/11/16 going from 1.5/1/.5 seconds duration.]

Q: Targon’s Path- This ability it a short range skillshot that impacts the first enemy hit, dealing physical damage (.6/.7/.8/.9/1 Total AD) and knocking them back slightly. Also resets the autoattack timer. (Great for pushing off any enemies trying to stick to you and getting those tricky last hits. It is also half his AA range.) Disorientation Q: When the cast pushes Jaun over into disorientation, this ability deals base damage plus a large percentage of AD (100%/125%/150%/175%/200% total AD) in physical damage as well as stuns the first target hit, however, this causes Jaun unable to think clearly and he becomes silenced and only able to autoattack and move around during the duration of the disorientation debuff.

W: Final Push- This ability is a ranged, piercing skillshot that deals physical damage [.5 Bonus AD+ 1%/2%/3%/4%/5% Missing Health] to all targets struck in the straight line. (Perfect for securing that last little bit of damage needed for a kill if they’re at low health. If you’re within sightline of the enemy though, they’ll be able to see the line of your shot, so use this wisely. This is twice his AA range.) Disorientation W: When the cast of this ability pushes Jaun over into Disorientation, the skillshot length and width remains the same, however he deals [.8 Bonus AD+5%/10%/15%/20%/25% Missing Health] in physical damage to all enemies struck. Dealing this much damage comes at a price though, and he becomes briefly exhausted, becoming slowed [40%/35%/30%/25%/20%]. (Absolutely perfect execute potential with this ability, and the enemy can’t hide behind their beefy front liners, especially when you double up this ability with the first cast, just make sure you can’t be jumped on when you use this part of the ability, otherwise you’ll be in big trouble.)

E: Duck and Dodge- This ability is a non-damage ability, but is a spammable, short range dash that resets his auto-attack timer. (This ability is perfect for repositioning and also chasing down enemies. It has the same distance as Lucian’s dash.) Disorientation E: When casting this ability pushes Jaun into Disorientation, he dashes a long distance (About 800 units) and while dashing dodges auto-attacks, but can still be targeted by spells. At the end of this dash, the memories of the other’s the Aspect had used failing in their attempts to get away flood Jaun’s mind and he becomes sick, being unable to tell himself from the others, stunning him where he lands.

R: Evening’s Call- Jaun merges with the Aspect inside of him, giving him bonus AD [+20%/30%/40% Total AD] but slowing him by 20% initially, and reducing over time, and applying a burn to his auto attacks [10%/15%/20% Enemy’s Current HP] that stacks up to 3 times and lasts for 3 seconds [Ticking every .5 seconds]. He lasts in this state for 10 seconds, and his abilities do not give him the Disorientation debuff while in the state. (This means that the secondary parts of each ability cannot be activated while he’s ulted.)

Synergizes well with: Leona Leona, The Radiant Dawn Alistar Alistar, The Minotaur Thresh Thresh, The Chain Warden

Is weak against: MasterYi Master Yi, The Wuju Bladesman Zed Zed, The Master of Shadows Leblanc LeBlanc, The Deceiver

I just got inspired to try and make a champion thanks to all the Mount Targon stuff going on, and reading all the lore behind it. This is obviously just an idea, but I tried to make it balanced and everything, just because I thought adding some numbers might solidify my character for some people. Please comment any thoughts you have on my character, and any questions you have I'll try to answer. I hope you enjoy my little ADC idea. :) Also, this is a repost of what I posted, because it didn't let me edit the title from my original post. Finally, please share this around if you like it. I'd love to get a bunch of different views!

Yes! The name in the title is misspelled. I don't know how it happened, but it did and I'm sad. :(

The kit seems solid enough, but what differentiates Jaun from other marksmen? Why should I play Jaun instead of the others? He doesn't have any autoattack steroids and he only has one ability to help him output consistent damage (basically an autoattack reset), which makes his damage output less. He's got a slight knockback on Q (stun if passive enhanced) so he can kite a single target. E always stuns (am I reading that correctly? Every cast disorients him?) which means that it can only be used to withdraw from a fight and only very rarely to chase.

This says to me that he's very safe for a marksman. His E makes him completely ungankable in laning phase and makes it difficult to catch him out even after laning phase ends. His Q helps him kite. But he pays for it with very low damage for a marksman. So why pick Jaun over someone like Ezreal who fills the "kites well" niche just as well but also pokes a lot better?

The ultimate doesn't really fit a marksman kit. Most marksmen either have ultimates that deal steady damage over a period of time (Lucian, Miss Fortune, Twitch, etc.) or have globals with long travel times (Ashe, Draven, Jinx, etc.). An AoE ground target burst+bleed is much more in line with a mage's kit.
