This is still in the early stages of design, but I figured I'd post it to see what you all think. I welcome you to share any balancing advice you might think of.

Short Lore "I was willing to give my life for the sake of the security of Demacia. There was a chance I would become dangerous to Demacia in the future, so I turned myself in to the first authority figure I could find. It just so happened that said authority figure had a good feeling about me. Personally, I think he made the right choice." - Alaer, on how her military career began. Originally a dentist, Alaer had managed to hide her magical affinity for her entire life. After the incident where Sylas of Dregbourne murdered multiple Mageseekers, Alaer realized just how dangerous mages truly were to Demacia as a whole. Immediately, she began travelling to the main city to find someone with the authority to arrest her and keep Demacia as safe as possible. As she neared the city, she found a group of soldiers, led by Jarvan Lightshield IV, seeing how distressed she was, he realized she was a patriot through and through, so he offered her an alternative. Her passion for military history made her an excellent strategist, after finding the weapon she was most comfortable with, she was personally tutored in combat by Fiora Laurent and a training regiment was designed by Garen Crownguard. Thus, the first of Demacia's Inquisitors were born.


Inquisitor "Are you sure this is a wise idea, Grand Inquisitor Alaer? These thi- these people, they're dangerous, even for one as skilled as yourself, what if they attack you?" Alaer pushed the doors open, not glancing back at the man. "I believe that is my business, Captain." As she entered the large room, all of the candles were lit simultaneously. "Hello. As you all know, I am Alaer, the Grand Inquisitor." She paused as the crowd turned toward her. "If you don't know what my title entails, I wouldn't blame you, considering that you're not supposed to. But, that doesn't matter. What matters is what I can do for you, and what you can do for Demacia." The crowd parted as she walked to the other side of the chamber. She placed her hand against the wall, blue fire extending out from her fingertips and lighting the cloth on fire. As the cloth burned, a symbol was revealed on the wall behind it, the Inquisitorial Seal. "Should you choose to accept the offer extended to you, your family will be pardoned of all crimes related to being a mage, and they will life significantly better than they were when you were taken away from them." Alaer turned toward the crowd. "To all of you who choose to accept, I would like to prematurely welcome you to the Inquisition." As Alaer moved to the exit of the room, the crowd was whispering amongst itself. After she exited, Alaer put her hand over her chest and exhaled audibly. She took a deep breath, regaining her composure. Alaer pulled out the notes from her pocket, making sure she didn't miss anything. "Oh, damn it all!" As she pulled out the second note, which was supposed to be her telling them what they would be doing as Inquisitors. Alaer simply folded the note and put it back in her pocket, beginning to walk up the stairs, passing the guards as they returned to their posts.

Abilities (Brief Description)


Passive - Crystals of the Inquisitor: There are three additional items available to Alaer in the shop. Vanguard Crystal, Shadowguard Crystal, and Inquisitor's Crystal Q - Inquisitorial Strike: Basic: Dashes forward, striking with Katapiestís before blinking back to her previous location. Vanguard: Passive: Alaer slowly gains a small shield while in combat, puts Inquisitorial Strike on cooldown if the shield is broken. Puts up a spell shield around Alaer, if the shield blocks an ability, Alaer blinks to the enemy champion and stuns them. Shadowguard: Alaer throws Katapiestís in a target direction, stopping at the first unit hit. If it hits a champion, Alaer can recast Inquisitorial Strike to dash to them, dealing damage to enemy units hit by the dash and interrupting channels. Inquisitor: Alaer fires a very thin line skill-shot, piercing minions and stopping at the second champion hit, rooting the second champion. ** W - Inquisitor's Call:** Basic: Alaer releases a burst of magic from Katapiestís, slowing nearby enemy champions and giving her a short burst of movement speed. Vanguard: Alaer immobilizes herself shortly, dodging any incoming attacks and shielding herself. Shadowguard: Alaer blinks to a target location and becomes True Invisible for a short duration. Inquisitor: Passive: Gain ability power for every five seconds not attack an enemy champion, stacks up to 5 times. Each spell cast while using the Inquisitor's Crystal stacks Inquisitor's Lament, after 5 stacks, casting Inquisitor's Call empowers her next ability. ** E - Inquisitor's Pride:** Basic: Alaer throws three silver daggers, if all three hit, do bonus damage. Does additional max health damage to Epic Monsters. Vanguard: Throws a silver dagger attached to a chain, pulling the first unit hit toward her. Cooldown is halved if it hits a champion. Shadowguard: Passive: Gain attack damage if facing two or more enemies alone. Alaer throws one silver dagger tipped with a paralytic poison, slowing and damaging the first enemy hit. If there is another enemy champion within 1000 units of a champion hit by this ability, the dagger bounces to that target, applying the same effects and refunding a quarter of the cooldown. Inquisitor: Alaer strikes out in a cone in front of her with a poisoned dagger, dealing a small amount of instant damage and dealing damage over time. R - Grand Inquisitor's Seal: Basic: Alaer cannot use Grand Inquisitor's Seal without a gem equipped. Vanguard: Alaer leaps into the air, silencing and damaging enemies when she lands. Gain a shield based on distance. Shadowguard: Alaer begins channelling, dashing and dealing damage based on time spent charging. Inquisitor: Alaer marks an enemy champion, causing them to take additional damage and explode upon death, the explosion marks all enemy champions hit by it.

Abilities (Detailed Description)

Passive - Crystals of the Inquisitor: Alaer has four possible states: No gem, Vanguard, Shadowguard, and Inquisitor. With no gem equipped, her auto attacks silence for 0.25 seconds. After purchasing the respective gem, Alaer can gain stat bonuses and change her abilities based on the selected gem.
Vanguard Gem: +250 max health, +10 armour, +10 magic resist, 1000 gold. Shadowguard Gem: +15 attack damage, +20% attack speed, 1000 gold. Inquisitor's Gem: +40 ability power, +5 magic penetration, 1000 gold. The gems appear above her champion portrait, each filling one of the three available slots rather than taking a slot in her inventory. Select a new gem by clicking on the gem, ability cooldowns are shared between gems. You can change gems in the middle of combat. Changing gems in combat requires 2 Charge. Q - Inquisitorial Strike: Basic: Range: 500, Charge Cost: None, Cooldown: 8 seconds, Cast Time: Instant, Travel Speed: 1000 units/second Alaer jumps forward a fixed 500 units, striking with Katapiestís dealing 18.75/56.25/93.75/131.25/168.75 + 60%/65%/70%/75%/80% bonus attack damage as physical damage, before disappearing in blue flames and returning to where she started. Enemies standing in the flames when she returns take 50/100/150/200/250 magic damage. Vanguard: Range: N/A, Charge Cost: 1.5, Cooldown: 10 seconds, Cast Time: Instant, Travel Speed: N/A Passive: Alaer gains a shield equal to 120/200/280/360/440 +30% attack damage and +25% ability power over three seconds in combat. Shield rapidly decays out of combat. If broken in combat, puts Inquisitorial Strike on a five-second cooldown. Alaer gains a spell shield for three seconds, the cooldown begins once the spell shield fades. If the spell shield blocks an ability, Alaer blinks to the caster of the ability and stuns them for 1.5 seconds, dealing 25/50/75/100/125 + 10% bonus health as physical damage. If the spell shield blocks an ability, take 35% less damage from all sources for 2.5 seconds. Shadowguard: Range: 1000, Charge Cost: None, Cooldown: 12 seconds, Cast Time: Instant Travel Speed 1: 2000 units/second Travel Speed 2: 1000 units/second Q1: Alaer throws Katapiestís in a line, dealing 100/125/150/175/200 + 80% attack damage and sticking into the first target hit. While Katapiestís remains out of Alaer's hands, she cannot change gems and her attack damage is halved. After hitting this ability, Alaer can use the second part of her Q for the next 5 seconds. Q2: Alaer dashes to the target struck by the first half of her Q, dealing 125/150/175/200/225 + 100% attack damage as physical damage to enemies in her way and reclaiming Katapiestís. While pulling out Katapiestís, Alaer hits a vital organ, dealing 50/75/100/125/150 + 25% attack damage as true damage and healing her for the same amount. Alaer always ends up behind the target using this ability. Katapiestís does not return until the cooldown for Inquisitorial Strike has finished, or Alaer reclaims Katapiestís. Katapiestís can also be reclaimed if Alaer walks within 100 units of the target, or the target dies. This immediately begins the cooldown of Inquisitorial Strike and removes the ability to use the second part of the ability. Inquisitor: Range: 975, Charge Cost: 1, Cooldown: 10 seconds, Cast Time: 0.5 seconds, Travel Speed: Instant Alaer points Katapiestís outward, channelling for 0.5 seconds before releasing a thin beam that deals 50/75/100/125/150 + 60%/65%/70%/75%%/80% ability power as magic damage and pierces minions and champions, stopping at the second champion hit and rooting the final target. Deals double damage to the final target and roots them for 1 second. W - Inquisitor's Call: Basic: Range: 275, Range 2: 90°, Charge Cost: 1, Cooldown: 16 seconds, Cast Time: Instant, Travel Speed: Instant Alaer thrusts out her hand, drawing in magical energy from enemies in range. Steals 30%/35%/40%/45%/50% + 0.25% ability power movement speed from all enemy champions hit. Charge cost refunded if multiple champions are hit by this ability. Vanguard: Range: N/A, Charge Cost: 1.5, Cooldown: 20 seconds, Cast Time: 1 second, Travel Speed: N/A Alaer surrounds herself in flames, making attacks phase through her for 1 second. Gain a shield for 25/50/75/100/125 + 30% armour and +30% magic resist for every attack dodged for 4 seconds after the cast ends. Shadowguard: Range: 600, Charge Cost: 2_, Cooldown: 8 seconds, Cast Time: Instant, Travel Speed: N/A Alaer vanishes in a plume of flame, blinking up to 600 units from where she started and becoming True Invisible for 0.25/0.50/0.75/1/1.25 seconds. Inquisitor: Range: N/A, Charge Cost: None, Cooldown: 30 seconds_, Cast Time: Instant, Travel Speed: N/A Passive: Every 5 seconds having not damaged an enemy champion, gain 1/2/3/4/5 ability power, up to 5 stacks. Each spell cast while using the Inquisitor's Crystal, gain stacks of Inquisitor's Lament with 5 or more stacks, can cast Inquisitor's Call, consuming all stacks of Inquisitor's Lament and adding 20/40/60/80/100 + 10% ability power per stack of Inquisitor's Lament as damage magic to the next ability cast. If the next ability cast is a non-damaging ability, refund half of the cooldown of Inquisitor's Call E - Inquisitor's Pride: Basic: Range: 450, Range 2: 30°, Charge Cost: 0.5, Cooldown: 10 seconds, Cast Time: Instant, Travel Speed: 450 units/second Aelar throws three silver daggers in a 30° cone, stopping at the first enemy hit. Each dagger deals 75/100/125/150/175 + 20% attack damage and +25% ability power physical damage. If each dagger hits one target, the target takes an additional 100/125/150/175/200 magic damage. Daggers deal 5% max health physical damage to Epic Monsters. Vanguard: Range: 1000, Charge Cost: 3, Cooldown: 40 seconds, Cast Time: Instant, Travel Speed: 1500 units/second Alaer throws a dagger attached to a chain in a straight line, pulling the first enemy it hits 275 units toward her. Cooldown halved if the unit pulled is a champion. Shadowguard: Range: 550, Charge Cost: 2, Cooldown: 15 seconds, Cast Time: 0.25 seconds, Travel Speed: 1100 units/second Passive: Alaer gains 10/20/30/40/50 attack damage if alone and facing multiple enemy champions. Alaer carefully aims and throws a magic-infused silver dagger tipped with a light paralytic poison, dealing 50/75/100/125/150 + 25% attack damage as magic damage and slowing the first enemy hit for 50%. If the first enemy hit is a champion standing within 1000 units of another enemy champion, the dagger bounces to the nearby enemy champion, maximum of 5 bounces, cannot bounce to the same target twice. Inquisitor: Range: 175, Range 2: 60°, Charge Cost: None, Cooldown: 12 seconds, Cast Time: Instant, Travel Speed: N/A Alaer slashes in front of her with a poisoned dagger, dealing 20/40/60/80/100 + 25% attack damage instantly, and applying a debuff that deals 5/10/15/20/25 + 10% ability power every second for 6 seconds. R - Grand Inquisitor's Seal Basic: Cannot be used. Vanguard: Range: 3500, Range 2: 500, Charge Cost: 5, Cooldown: 120 seconds, Cast Time: 3 seconds, Travel Speed: N/A Alaer leaps into the air, gaining a 100/150/200 + 15% armour and + 15% magic resist to 250/400/550 + 40% armour and 40% magic resist health shield based on the distance travelled. Once she lands, enemies in the circle take 100/175/250 damage + 5% max health physical damage and Alaer gains a shield for 25/50/75 + 20% ability power for each enemy hit. These shields decay over 5 seconds. Shadowguard: Range: 1500, Charge Cost: 5, Cooldown: 120 seconds, Minimum Cast Time: 1 second, Maximum Cast Time: 5 seconds, Travel Speed: Instant Alaer holds her breath, channelling for up to five seconds, before dashing forward, dealing 50/100/150 + 50% attack damage to 250/500/750 + 150% attack damage based on charge as physical damage to all enemy units in her path. Inquisitor: Range: 1000, Range 2: 500, Charge Cost: 5, Cooldown 180 seconds, Cast Time: Instant, Travel Speed: N/A Alaer chooses an enemy champion, this champion becomes Marked for five seconds, taking 40%/50%/60% increased damage and exploding upon death, dealing 300/500/700 + 50% ability power and marking all enemy champions damaged by the explosion. If a champion is damaged by two death explosions, the mark stacks and they take further increased damage but still deal the same amount of damage to nearby allies upon death.
