Champion Concept: Brell, the Last Templar
Champion Name: Brell Champion Title: the Last Templar Champion Appearance: Brell is a towering knight sporting a tattered set of Demacian Templar armor. Wielding a large flail with a golden lion's head at the end as a weapon, and bracers that will harness the Templar's energy to create a shield to protect Brell in combat. Aging with white hair and beard, Brell stands tall as a time tested knight once heralded for his valor as he lead the Demacian vanguard in their conquests across Valoran.
Lore: Once one of King Jarvan III's most trusted advisers, Brell lead Demacia's Knights Templar on conquest across Valoran. Towering above his adversaries on the field of battle, little could stand up against Demacia as long as Brell was leading the charge in to enemy front lines, clearing a path with each swing of his colossal flail. After a long expedition to the Freljord where Brell and Ashe lead their forces to crush an attempted invasion by Sejuani and her tribe, Brell and his men marched home to Demacia. As Brell and the legions reached the city's gates he was met with orders summoning him to the war council to begin preparations to overthrow their age long enemies, the Noxus. Upon reaching the council Brell was met by Xin Zhao, Garen, Prince Jarvan IV, and King Jarvan III. Deliberation carried on through the night, as they finally reached their conclusion the following morning. Outnumbering the Noxus ten to one, Demacia would press the attack, bringing the fight to the Noxian front door. With Brell and his Templar leading the cavalry, and Garen at the head of the infantry, the Demacian war machine would begin their march on Noxus. For months they would overrun and brute force their way through countless battles, earning themselves great tales of their valor and heroic feats which had paved a bloody trail to the front gates of Noxus. Once at the gates, the Demacian forces gathered to rally for their final battle, the battle that would end the Noxian regime once and for all. The lines were in place. Brell would lead himself and the heavily armored Templar to the gates as Xin Zhao, Garen, and his men remained back to protect the king and prince until the Noxian gates have been breached. To their surprise, with the sound of the Noxian war horn the gates opened and the Noxus elite began to pour out in to the field of battle lead by Sion and Darius, The Hand of Noxus. With the enemy closing the distance between themselves and Demacia's king, Brell and his men began the charge colliding head on with Noxus forces. For hours blood was shed as bodies began to litter the battle field; it was then that Brell found himself face to face with the berserker, Sion. Blow after blow was traded as Brell and Sion clashed on the blood-soaked field of battle. Sion raised his massive cleaver above his head looking to decimate Brell with one overpowering smash, but Brell was able to call forth his shield protecting him from what would be a fatal strike, causing a shockwave that left Sion stumbling back, fighting to regain balance. It was at that moment Brell knew he had the upper hand, and it was his time to put an end to Sion's rampage. Summoning every last bit of his strength, Brell swung his flail around his head and smashed the lion's head across Sion, launching him across the field and in to the side of the Noxian walls. As Sion's body fell limp to the ground, Brell turned to his king, looking to ensure the king and his son were safe. It was at that moment he heard the roar. The deep maddening scream of a man possessed. He turned around to see the beserker running full speed ahead at him, smashing in to him as if to be hit by an explosion, and being left on the ground; unable to move, unable to gasp for air as Sion looked down upon him with a sinister smirk before taking off once more for the king. It was at that moment Brell fell unconscious, unable to protect his king from the might of the Noxus. As Darius and his men continued cutting down Demacian soldiers, the battered Sion found his way to Jarvan III and managed to choke the life out of the king before succumbing to death himself. The following morning Brell found himself waking up in a tent with Prince Jarvan at his side. With a heavy heart, the prince informed Brell that his Templar had all been slain, and that his king was dead. With that Jarvan IV made his way out and instructed Brell to get rest. That evening, unable to cope with the loss of everything that had ever given him purpose, Brell snuck out of the encampment and made his way to the mountains of Ionia, where he would live in exile until he could find atonement for the death of his king. It was during this time of seeking resolute for his past that Brell ran in to a young woman with hair as white as his own. An exile herself, the woman took to Brell as a companion as they were both in search of purpose. Riven was no stranger to the battlefield, but was looking to start a new life, free from her ties with the Noxus, when she crossed paths with Brell. In looking to keep their edge, Brell and Riven would spar daily to keep their skills honed and their focus razor sharp. Until one day, Riven did not show up to their daily engagement. Days became weeks, weeks became months until an unexpected visitor came forth to greet Brell once more. It was Riven, she had come back to let Brell know that she had found solace in the Field of Justice. She could use her abilities to fight for the greater good of Runeterra, and invited Brell to accompany her in the Summoner's Rift. This was the opportunity that Brell sought after, the chance to redeem himself, a chance to prove himself once more for the honor of Demacia, and against the blight of the Noxus. Tales of Valor will be sung once again as Brell leads the vanguard across the Rift.
