I think Ranked Solo Queue should be removed.

I've been around in League since the beginning. It's been a long time coming, and a great ride. I was thinking today that the ranked solo queue should be removed. There have been a few people who have explained why the ELO rating system didn't work, and I think those same reasons are the ones I am going to list as why Solo Ranked in general just isn't working.

First: The ELO Rating system was not designed for team games.

(quoted from DorianTV) "You're kidding yourself if you think that a rating system for a game with literally 9 random factors (the other player) in every iteration is a true representation of a player's skill.

That said, Elo is undoubtedly correlated with skill, but it's entirely possible for a 1500 to be at 1400, as it is for a 1600 to be at 1700 due to the 9 random factors every game."<

Just like this, you can't have "Solo" queue rank, without playing with a team. There isn't a way around the fact that the other 4 people placed in your team affect your personal rank. Gbay99 said that statistically you have an advantage and you should win more than 50% of your games if there is someone who trolls, or has internet connection issues every match. This is because, given that the person who trolls is not you, your team only has 4 chances at that player, while the enemy team has 5. My point in saying this is that, it goes both ways. Both teams have their solo queue rank affected by that one player regardless of which team that player is on.

Second:

(quoted from Stefen) "With a team game where there are five players, it's incredibly unfair for everyone to share the same reward or penalty equally when the effort/talent that went into that game is typically so far from equal among the players.

In a perfect world, there would be stat tracking for individual performance within games. Kills, deaths, assists, minions, turrets, damage dealt, damage taken, wards- everything would have a point value that would modify the base rating you get for winning or losing a match. In this way, good players that are paired with feeders are not losing the same amount of rating as the feeding players."<

But there is a system like this in place now. The Champion Mastery system keeps track of all of this. It shows you what you are doing right and wrong. It tells you your grade in playing that champion. This system is based on specific champion types. It knows that supports are supports, and gives you an S for tons of assists and warding, and not dying. It knows you are a Jungler and gives you an S for your assists and warding and objective control.

While this is all being said, I understand where some people disagree that this is a fair way of estimating rank as well.

(quoted from Devil May Lol)

there are no definite way of determining a good player from a feeder within one game. All the things you mentioned can easily be exploited and abuse to gain unfair advantage. for example who would want to play tank if they take into account kda for elo gain/loss?

(In regards to matchmaking and toxicity)

1/Something came up in their game and people have a legitimate reason to leave. That's not mm problem

2/Someone have a bad games and get ganked non stop and end up with 0-10. That's not MM fault.

3/Someone get flamed by the whole team for the entire game and decided to go afk. That's not MM problem.

there are no DEFINITE way to determine a leaver/feeder/afker before the game starts. If you know how to label people as one please tell riot.<

This is whole other problem in itself. Toxicity isn't something that Riot can change. And they aren't expected to. But one thing I definitely feel is very important is finding a better way to deal with it. There have been so many great advances in this subject, with the tribunal, queue times being delayed all that jazz. But I am still finding it very common to find someone in my game that has these issues. (That being said, I understand when someone i shaving a bad game, and I don't think that's entirely their fault. We all have bad games sometimes.)

My friend Tkat and I were talking before I started writing this.

but there's no such thing as a team in solo queue. It's 1v5 well, 1v1v1v1v1v5

This was his response.

"You have to make the team. It's hard but you have to motivate them bring them together that's what I do Ranked is about controlling your team without them knowing it. It's not about how good you are.

This only aggravated me more towards the ranked system in solo queue. It's not about the game anymore. It's just paranoia about how to keep your team from feeding and raging and being mad at each other. I used to have so much fun with League, but it's just not the same anymore. I can only have fun when I'm in an in house game where everyone knows the other players. I want to have fun again. I want to be able to support riot by buying skins, but I'm more motivated to quit league than stay and support it. I don't want to feel this way towards a game that has been there for me to have fun. But It's not where I think it could be right now.

I Just don't know if this is how anyone else feels or not. Maybe it's just me. I still want to put this out there because I think it's time for some real change to make the game fun again. If I'm wrong tell me that, but if you agree I want you to say so.

The thing with solo que is that when we did have solo q, nearly everyone was a solo playing. That being said, it gives everyone equal opportunity to carry a game. The whole "solo q rank" is a rank that is not only saying how good you are as a player, but also saying how good you are working with your team to win a game.

Yes. You are correct.

It's a sick joke to continue calling this a "ranking" of skill and a "solo" queue, given that most games involve multiple botted thro-way accounts and/or recreational twitch streamer trolls.

Magical Riot Math claims that everything evens out in the end, but fail to take into account player fatigue and matchmaking exploits through various (PROBABLY) backdoor undocumented API exploits.

So, yeah, I mean if you're the type of person who likes to set goals and achieve them, then this is just a sick cruel joke,

If I have 2 players on my team that are being rude towards each other, not to me or anyone else, How can I fix that? All I'm saying is that I think that ranked queues are one of the major causes for the toxic behavior being experienced league wide.
