Champion Spotlight: Cora - the Deadspeaker. (Abilities, Ratios, Lore!)
I've had many ideas of champions, but this one just came so fluid to me. I came up with all of this within the past 10 hours. I am ready and willing to hear any suggestions and if you have any questions on why i did things the way i did, feel free to ask!
Cora is supposed to be a true take on a AP Bruiser. She gets passive AR and MR from her passive to further put her into a bruiser category while still allowing her to build AP damage items. She's not allowed to build certain items considered tank items (List Coming).
Cora's idealogy is that of a battlemage. I want her to be a true AP bruiser and be able to get into the fray like a riven or a darius and fight toe to toe with people after whittling them down with her spells at a range. instead of giving her a shield or an overzealous heal i decided that passive AR/MR would be the way to go, as well as giving her dashes to get into the backline and continue chasing fleeing opponents. Her passive and careful planning of using it and which spell when enhanced can separate a good Cora from a Great Cora.
I imagine Cora to be a slender-ish built, medium hight woman with mid-back length light brown hair. Her eyes are dichromatic Blue and White, signifying how the spirits are part of her. Her sword, Ghost Tongue, is a unique blade, curved in the likes of a Kilij and dark with a Red gem near the handle. The sword, when wielded, emits an ominous purple glow. Her whole body is surrounded by a faint purple/pink like haze, which gets bigger and goes to dark purple and black when in her Ultimate, Regret. She would be in a suit of light leather armor made from the animals she's slain in the shadow isles, a gray, scalebound cuirass and black leg armor/boots. Her auto attacks come from her sword, using spirits to slash from range. Spirits would swirl around her indicating the amount of casts that have hit champions, so enemies know when to expect a empowered move. Her abilities would follow suit of the color scheme: light purple/pink normally, dark purple and black for her empowered skill.
An alternate skin for her would be one of two ideas. Dark Star Cora or Flame Revenant Cora. Dark Star Cora would change her spells to cosmic overtones. Dread Lance would go from being spirit looking to a comet/shooting star. Deathgrip would look like a black hole with alien tendrils coming out. Spirit Rush would look like either rings around saturn or the end of a shooting star.
Flame Revenant Cora is a reimagination of what Cora would have been had she stayed in the house LeBlanc left burning. She's zombified, partially, but also partially on fire. Her hair is made of fire, eyes go to red and white, and her suit of armor is now battered, broken, and in disarray, red and gold colored, with burn marks. her leg armor would be black and red, battered, beaten. Her sword would stay the same, just switched color scheme for the actual sword and the aura around it.

Lore: During Leblanc's tirade around Runeterra to unite the broken barbarian tribes for her shadowy agenda, she once went on a conquest of destroying villages in their entirety if they refused to fall under her order. This small village in the Shadow Isles was no different. Filled with survivors of people who fled from Elise's lure to be sacrificed to the Spider God, they made a living out of whatever they could find. It wasn't perfect, but It was life. Life that changed in one day.
Leblanc and her barbarians destroyed that small town, the name of which has been forgotten to time. The Black Rose, usually a creature of no mercy, heard a child's crying as the last of her barbarians left the town to unite more tribes. She saw the child, a young girl, maybe six, crying in a house that was still mostly standing, but completely on fire. She decided to let the house finish the job, and ordered her barbarians to their next conquest. Little did she know that that decision would haunt her.
The little girl survived that day. The lone survivor of the Black Rose and her barbarians. She decided to travel, hoping to find anyone to help her. She picked up a sword, tip shattered in half from her townsmen trying to defend their village, and left. As she came upon the few remaining human survivors of the Shadow Isles, many turned her away without even offering an ounce of help. As soon as some tried to help, the voices of her friends and families souls rung out in her head like the sound of swords to flesh, saying "Don't trust them. Don't trust anyone. They will kill you. The Pale Lady is everywhere." She immediately fled back into the harshness of the isles, afraid to trust anything one anyone.
Years went by, and she became one with the Shadow Isles. The visions and voices of her friends and loved ones killed by LeBlanc never left her mind, her heart, or her sight. She thought that she was going insane. Voices constantly told her unspeakable things. Someone she managed to keep her sanity, and even learned to calm the voices and make use of the souls for everyday survival tasks. And that's when Thresh found her.
Thresh originally had his sights set on stealing her soul for his lantern, but after watching her, he realized she had a potential similar to his own. Thresh took her under his wing. He saw her pain, and her struggle. And he also saw her passion. He asked her her name, and she just shook her head. He called her "Cora". He saw how much heart she had, and thought the name appropriate. He saw her using her souls in miniscule ways.
"Cora, can you use that power as a weapon?"
"A... weapon, thresh?"
"Yes. To defend yourself. To destroy your enemies."
"No.. I.. I can't."
He taught her. Her taught her the way to turn her sorrow into a weapon. After years of rigorous training, she had done it. She was now 19, and fully in control of her destiny. By binding the immense sadness and agony to her sword, she was able to fully let the ethereal power surrounding her truly manifest. The dead now spoke to her in tongues of power and anger. Through violence and revenge she would find her peace. She knew not the name of the woman who killed her friends, her family, her life… but she knew the flag: Noxus. Thresh gave her an idea on where best to start searching for The Black Rose, and off she went. She went on to find Noxian stronghold after Noxian stronghold, wiping them clean off the face of Runeterra. One day, she finally found the Black Rose. Or so she thought.
After destroying one of the most heavily armored strongholds, out of the smoke and rubble comes the Black Rose. The two began to battle. Leblanc's mimicry and deception proved her toughest match yet. But she was not deterred. She continued to fight with all of her loved ones vigor inside her, when finally, she landed a blow on the Black Rose.
"Who.. Or what are you?" The Black Rose asked.
"Cora."
In that very Instant, the mimic of Leblanc vanished. In the process, the Black Rose doppelganger left behind a paper that indicated a "Tournament of Champions" for the strongest warriors of the realm. She decided to join the tournament, hoping to one day finally meet the real Black Rose face to face and take revenge for the hundreds of souls she laid to waste that fateful day 13 years ago.
"I wanted to steal her soul for my collection, but then I realized I had no idea which soul was actually hers." -Thresh
