After 6 Years... I give up. (A Letter to Riot)

First off, I'll say that I'm not looking for anyone to say some dumb shit. this is my opinion and I just want it to be heard, so keep the flame and everything else to yourself.

That being said... I give up. I'm no longer going to be playing league. After 5 years and over 3000 dollars worth of skins... I am done. The game is no longer fun anymore. The "Runes Reforged" literally made this game HotS 3.0 and I hate it. If i wanted to play HotS, I wouldn't because that game is trash. The old rule of "IF it ain't broke, don't fix it" was never taught to Riot or any of its employee's, it seems. The runes are terrible and need to be reverted. I don't understand changing a game so drastically because "it's unfair to new players" when the game is literally based around the competitive scene. You literally just pulled a WOW post Wrath of the Lich king. You are supporting the more casual player base, and for that, you lost, and I assume will continue to lose, people like me, who have been here since the start and love things they way they were. I'm not afraid of change, so don't say that. The runes are bad. Many games and much testing I've done, There's literally nothing good about these runes. Each game feels like a clusterfuck. It changed the entire feel of the game. The whole damn game is now a clown fiesta over a tactical, thought out 5v5 moba. I can't support this... and quite frankly, I won't. Been a good 6 years, Riot... but I'm checking out.

You posted it publicly, people are going to have an opinion about what you write, that's how forums work---it's a give-and-take type of deal to an extent.

The rune system that was in place before needed some changes, there's no question. The fact that you had to spend 2k IP for a Quint was an absolutely ridiculous aspect of the old system. That being said, I liked some parts of the old rune system and I appreciate some of the new ones as well... I definitely have mixed feelings, but I can understand your dislike.

Still, I don't think it's quite the same as Heroes of the Storm... that game is straight up garbage.

I disagree with almost everything here.

I don't believe Riot is catering to casuals at all, if anything, they are catering to hardcore gamers moreso than ever. Keeping in mind that the BE changes that were instituted combined with the infinite account leveling now make it so that it takes considerably longer to grind Orange Essence and arguably longer to get equal amounts of Blue Essence as before. The runes themselves and the nature of the game has definitely moved toward one of a more fast paced, high reaction-time, super team coordinated type of game as opposed to a slower, more casual type of experience. Not to mention the more complex rune system than the simple "+26 health" along with the new player experience makes League ANYTHING BUT casual friendly.

I will say that some of the aforementioned changes to the game will cost them players. Even I have thought about tapping out after all of these years.
