Champion Concept- Monk of Forgotten Memories
Came up with this idea when reading through all the reworks coming up and that have already passed. A simple concept, ironically, versus all the unique things to his/her kit that I came up with. And the interactions this person might have.
MoFM (Monk of Forgotten Memory) was initially going to be a mage, but when I thought of all the recent champions released, no good tanks have come out recently. No, I don't consider bruisers to be tanks. So, MoFM might be able to be a tank. Or just another fighter, or bruiser. MoFM is definatly designed for top lane though.
First ability is meant as more as harassment than anything else. A straight-line skill shot on a three stack ammo system. Hitting successful shots slows. Could punish fairly well or be used when chasing, if need be, or retreating, as well, as you could use it while moving. I originally planned this to scale off AP with low base damage unless you got the additional hits, but that's open to change.
Second ability would most likely have to be something like an auto attack buff/reset. I haven't really given this much thought. Maybe you could fit that max hp% ability+heal on this!
Third ability I've spent loads of time balancing. First is was an annoying stun that slowed afterwords while doing massive damage, but I opted out of it. Not every tank needs a stun. (
) But I still needed cc, as of course I did. So, since Roots are becoming more popular, with Ivern and such, I went for a root. However, to make this ability unique, I came up with something to make it more like it's own root vs a Morgana bind or something. The Rooted target is leeched 30% of their total armor and magic resistance, which is then transferred to MoFM. A tank needs resistances, and I don't think there's a tank in the game that makes themselves tanky by leeching it off others.
Ultimate ability is where MoFM will pick up use the later the game gets. MoFM would place down a zone, similar in radius and size of a Trundle zone, to where initially, targets are slowed by an immense amount. After a few second's delay, perhaps a max of four seconds, minimum of two, targets still in the area are stunned, and take a hefty amount of damage based on MoFM's AP scaling. Yes, enemies can move out of this zone fairly quickly, but to compensate, the ultimate has the unique ability of again leeching 35% total armor and magic resistance from enemies hit, as well as increase ally's armor and magic resistance(for ally's inside of the zone) by half as much.
I didn't really design a passive because I felt like I didn't need one. A tank that leeches resistances off other tanks/champions is already a niche that I don't believe the game has, and it would be an interesting champion in today's meta. And future metas. Yet, as far as I see it, MoFM already has some potenial from early to late game. Early game, even if behind, farming with Q can bring MoFM into mid game, where they'll roam with their ult, root targets, pick up kills or assists, and soak up hits. Late game, MoFM might not always initiate fights, but can support initiators with the second half of the Ultimate and keep carries safe with roots and slows from successful shots on Q.
Just an idea. The reason it's called the Monk of Forgotten Memories however, is more meant towards interactions and the like. There's a great one I had, taunting any major reworked champion. "I can see an alternate version of you. Trust me, you're better like this..." Or- "Ah, I see you have changed for the better. I'll let those memories stay forgotten."
And just because, I've written taunts for my six favorite champs:
: "I smell...(sniffs)...CHEESE! You'll share, right?" "So, a giant rat and a petty criminal! I like you're style."
: "Yaharr!!! Still with the oranges."
: "River Demon, how rude to talk with your mouth full."
: "Woah, you almost hit me!"(Enemy) "So dangerous, yet so beautiful." (Ally)
: "Okay. Okay?! OKAY?! (sigh) Okay."
: "Ah, you seek new knowledge? I seek old. Let's work together."(Ally) "Why look for new information when there is so much lost to us?"(Enemy)
And, just because, though he doesn't really quite fit, I managed these few lines after thinking about him.
: "I will weather the Curse, if only to bring back to you what you've lost." "Poor Amumu, amnesia is terrible. Let me help you." "Through the Curse, I will unravel your forgotten memories!!"
That's everything I have for MoFM. Backstory mostly focuses around a farmer on the coast of the Freljord wandering around, lost, having suffered trauma to his head, when MoFM shows up, eager to help. The Farmer however, is not ready for how MoFM restores memories, and through the shackles (MoFM's E ability, the root), the farmer remembers what happened, and proceeds home, while MoFM continues their way into a raging blizzard, mentioning something about Ionia and Shurima. Not well thought out, I know.
Anyway, that's my idea. Let me know how you think MoFM would do if they were an actual champion. Also, any ideas for passives and help with the backstory or if you drew art would be appreciated. MoFM is just a concept, though I'd love to see what people do with it.
