Item upgrades & Item Quests

Imagine if that item you had, came with a number of quest that when each quest is completed it gave the item a permanent upgrade, of course the item resets for each match. Doing this could help use the quest programming in the start of the game, and hopefully improve game play. Personally I think it'd be a great idea any thoughts?
