Skarner Rework Ideas

So... Skarner sucks right now except for his e, and he's extremely outdated. So here are my ideas for his rework. Comment your ideas for his rework, or what idea you think is best for each ability. I will make a complete rework to show everyone based on all of your feedback.

Passive:

  1. Crystals appear around the map, once collected, they give him temporary stats that last for 3 minutes
  2. Every 20 seconds, a crystal spawns near Skarner. He gains stats based off of how many crystals he has collected.
  3. Every 20 seconds (reduced by 1 second for every basic attack), Skarner's next basic attack deals bonus damage and roots the target.

Q: (Come on Riot, his current Q is useless...)

  1. Skarner slashes in front of him in a cone, dealing damage to enemies. This ability can be reactivated to deal damage and pull enemies towards Skarner.
  2. Passive: Skarner deals bonus damage against movement impaired enemies. Active: Skarner's next basic attack deals bonus damage and slows the target.
  3. Skarner digs underground and pops up in a target location at his own rate of speed, crushing enemies that are within range. After a 0.5 second delay, he can recast within 1.5 seconds to grab an enemy (prioritizing champions), and burrows down, taking them back to where he originally dug.

W:

  1. Passive: Gain 10% bonus armor and magic resistance. Active: Gain a shield equal to 80% of your armor + 10% of your maximum health that lasts for 3 seconds. While the shield is active, gain a small amount of bonus movement speed.
  2. Gain a shield that equals 20% of you maximum health that lasts 3 seconds. While the shield is active, your basic attacks deal bonus magic damage.

Fracture [E]: This needs to remain the same. Its such a good ability.

Impale [R]: This can remain the same, but I wanna see what you guys think is better.

  1. Skarner impales his target with his stinger, dealing damage and stunning them, and his damage against them increase for the duration of the stun.
  2. Skarner impales his target with his stinger, dealing damage, and digs for 0.75 seconds (Can be stopped by cc) and brings the target to a location up to 5000 units away.
  3. Skarner impales his target with his stinger, dealing damage plus damage based on their missing health.
  4. Skarner creates a barrier around himself and his target, pushing away all units, both ally and enemy, and cannot be entered or left by anyone who isn't Skarner. The barrier lasts for 3 seconds, or until the target dies. Skarner's next basic attack impales the enemy with his stinger, dealing bonus damage.

everyone hates the crystal spires, its has pretty much all the reasons why he's trash rn, its basically what they did when they killed Dominion, they put it in Skarner, but if the mode was so bad why make a champion out of it?

Best thing to do may be to give him a new passive, making him one like Bard is a decent idea, Just make the buffs temporary just like bard until an AA or certain # of abilities are used, or give him his old one.

would be nice if he used his stinger more, or if they tried to make him act more scorpion like while maintaining a gameplay that isn't TOO niche so Riot can stop acting like people don't like monster champions

My most recent thoughts on how to improve Skarner as someone who mained him prior to the Juggernaut update.

However I will also add that his class identity is worse than Fiddlesticks or Singed; he has the potential to be a skirmisher because Sheen is pretty good on him because of his low CD Q, and he has the potential to be a vanguard thanks to his ult and E as well as his W.

Anyhow, I actually propose starting with reworking his passive so he isn't tied to the jungle, then helping him survive engages with his ult (even something as simple as refreshing the CD on W upon using his ult would be nice), and then possibly modernizing his Q so it has some utility other than Sheen procs or wave/jungle clearing; having Q proc E might be a good start as it makes having E hit multiple targets somehow more satisfying.

Personally, I will never like any iteration where Skarner is gaining power from other Brackern life Crystals. He has his, and that is it. Its not good lore/gameplay homogenization.

If I wanted to start from scratch on Skarner's kit, I would want to focus on the fact that his life crystal holds the thoughts/experiences/knowledge of past brackern and go from there. What kind of brackern held the crystal before Skarner?

Next would be understanding the crystals themselves. Do they energize the bearer? Does the bearer energize the crystal? Is it both? Is it a ritual?

Skarner's crystal body: was it a result of the bonding ritual? or was he always a crystal creature?

Personally, I think Skarner has a lot of potential, but anything involving his getting "power" from other crystals has to go short of a major lore update, which would kill me because they would be trying way too hard to force a bad gameplay mechanic on my favorite champion...
