Anyone else feel underwhelmed by Pykes hook?

O - o i don't know if this would be a good way to start something like this but I have been playing pyke for quiet awhile and i just got him to master 7. his whole kit feels fun and satisfying to play except for the elephant in the room.. pykes Q is just very clunky and if its not catching someone who is running away in an EMPTY lane or pulling someone into some dark bushes then they will grab their portable camping chairs and sit down behind a minion wave until your Q is down. as such you are forced into playing from bushes and making very rough plays just to try to put them in a bad position which is'nt bad if it weren't for characters like blitzcrank whom has more Crowd control and faster speeds at doing it. instead of looking for his wind up you have to avoid being in a direct line with him. pyke is the only character who has a pull which comes with a wind up and i get that its part of the choice between a slow and also a pull. it works well in certain situations i used the tap for extra damage and managed to pick up a triple kill with my R which avenged his death.

I want to have a discussion on what was my ideas when i first say the video and wonder how many of the people on these forms feel about both my thoughts and the actual system in play. the video showed a masked killer drowning people and chasing them down. the list seemed like a plausible mechanic and i think it might be fun if they added a hidden passive like 'The hunt" that's between rengar and khazix if he were against a champ from bilgewater. that is not quiet what irked me i was super thrilled when i saw the ending and they showed this large overview showing all of their previous scenes one of which where he had pulled someone underwater having wrapped fishing hooks around them. i think it would be really interesting if pyke had a more unique hooking mechanic than the other characters and maybe even some more synergy with his E. my idea for what i thought he might have had when they were releasing the champ was that his CC mechanic would be that he wraps them up in a sires of hooks. i think it would be fun and unique if his Q had 3 charges what would build up over 6 or 7 seconds per charge. having a bit shorter of range but changing from an skill shot to a smaller AOE he would throw a hook around his target which would apply a "Entangled" debuff. this debuff would slow movement by 2% or slow acting more as a inconvenience and lasting for about 7 seconds in total pyke would have to land his second AOE in order to slow them by 15% or so then after landing his third small and close range AOE he would have them stunned and "Wrapped up" for about 1 second. to which pyke could use his E phantom undertow to rip his opponent away from where they had been hauling them away and into another position. something like this would be really unique and fit in with a fisherman like theme. i know there are HUGE issues with this i just really don't like the wind up and the small AOE might not function that well visually or thematically i just think landing 3 skill shots back to back with a small margin for error would be near impossible but very rewarding. now i can already tell you're down there typing the Q spam but if he had a small cast delay between when could cast his Q i think it would be balanced and interesting. kind of like chasing them down so you can drag them to the depths.

the issue to this would be that this would be a lack of damage. Pyke's Q is designed as both a source of damage and a pull which is in itself rather unique changing his Q to be nothing more than a stun and his E to be a "Haul" mechanic would remove a lot of his current damage. of course this could change how he is as a support but kill him playing in any other lane such as jungle or mid. his Q would maybe get away with being a small DOT which damages you a small amount and i imagine having a bunch of hooks digging into your skin and getting yanked by them somewhere would do some damage so his phantom undertow could still do damage and maybe be his primary damage source after he lands his stun.

i think this concludes my thoughts on this mater and i am very curious as to how you feel about at least my dream of pyke and how i had thought of him when he was first released.

Farewell summoners!

Pyke is also the only catcher/hook champ who has a follow up dash (loaded with a stun) and an invisibility followed by rapid healing. Any other hook champ needs to actually follow up with their hook into a fight. Pyke on the other hand can just fuck off if he’s low health and return fully healed 3 seconds later.

Fuck Pyke.
