Melee Champions Only

45+ Ability Power 200+ Health 50%+ Base Health Regen

UNIQUE – Magic Cleave: Basic attacks deal 20% to 60% of your Ability Power to units around your target

UNIQUE - Dealing skill damage applies a damage-over-time effect that deals bonus Attack Damage equal to 2% of the target's current health per second for 3 seconds. This bonus damage is doubled against movement-impaired units

UNIQUE - 20% Magic and Armor Penetration

UNIQUE Active Power To Spend - For 10 seconds, turns all AP of this Item and Magic Penetration into AD and Armor Penetration (30 second Cooldown)

An variant of the Taimat, the Scales of Sorrows is a powerful AP version of the Hydra Items. While it can work with AP Melee Champions (), it gives a good style for AD Melee and AD Carries, as this tool works well with Nashor's Tooth () and Stitikk Shiv ().

I'm not an expert, but this item seems a bit all over the place, it wants to be an hydra, but it isn't, seems like a slightly watered down Liandry

This item is supposed to be an ap Hydra, but the names doesn't fit

The stats are proper for a ad hydra item, but a bit lacking for an ap item, that's usually is a bit higher

Liandry's Torment, the alternative gives 300 hp, and 80 ap, and the passive is +15 magic penetration and a ap damage over time effect of 2% of current enemy health if I remember correctly

Your item with all that hybrid penetration and stats seems more suited to tanky mages, that don't build that much ap or usually have so so scallings, so they benefit a lot from magic penetration builds, but it falls a bit low on the tanky stats comparing to other ap items, and these mages rarelly autoattack to use the Magic cleave passive, most would probably use liandry or rilay instead.

I really doubt any ad champion would build this, as it doesn't have any ad scalings, just physical penetration, but an hybrid champion might use it (Diana would probably love it because of the passive autoattack enhancer and her passive)

In my opinion, I would add an active like those of hydra items, that would separate this item from Luden's echo and under certain situations make it better, or up a little bit the normal stats and nerf slightly the penetration, that eats too much of the power budge of the item, any of those should leave the item a bit more usefull and balanced
