[Champion Concept] - Zeran, The Pure Elder Wizard

This is an edited version of Zeran after peer and self critiquing. The original version is the link above. Zeran is the last of what many call "pure wizards". These wizards were masters of all elements and were able to manipulate them to their will.

Passive: Element Mastery - Zeran can mix his spells to create an elemental ability. Every successful use of an elemental ability causes Zeran to gain a stack of Mastery. Each stack of Mastery increases Zeran's flat magic pen by 3/5/8, stacking up to 5 times. At full stacks, Zeran's next elemental ability that deals damage, consumes all stacks of Mastery and deals bonus true damage.

  • True damage: 15/25/40 (max stacks of magic pen) + (level x 2).

Q: Fire - Zeran's next basic attack deals bonus magic damage. Fire element is toggled; lasts two seconds after basic attack is used.

  • 5 second cooldown
  • (+.15 AP) bonus damage
  • When leveled, increases damage and durations of Fire Elemental Abilities

W: Ice - Zeran's next 2 basic attacks become empowered targeted skillshots. Zeran shoots two shards of ice that damage and slow the first enemy hit. (Two shards per basic attack, for a total of 4 shards) Ice element is toggled; lasts two seconds after basic attacks are used.

  • 8 Second Cooldown
  • deals (+.075 AP) magic damage per shard
  • slows for 10% per shard
  • When leveled, increases damage and durations of Ice Elemental Abilities

E: Lightning - Zeran's next three basic attacks gain max attack speed, deals bonus magic damage and can strike up to three targets. Lightning element is toggled; lasts two seconds after basic attacks are used.

  • 8 second cooldown
  • (+.1 AP) bonus magic damage
  • When leveled, increases damage and durations of Lightning Elemental Abilities

R: Cyclone of the Elements - Zeran unleashes the full might of his power, creating a cyclone from his hands. As he channels, the cyclone pulls all enemies nearby into it, damaging them every second they're inside. Any toggled element at the activation of CotE enhances the cyclone: *Fire *- increases the damage; Ice - slows all surviving enemies; Lightning - causes all surviving enemies to deal magic damage to themselves and their nearby allies for 2 seconds.

  • Channel lasts 3/3.5/4 seconds
  • 160 second cooldown
  • 120 mana cost
  • 75/100/125 (+.2 AP) per second
  • Fire bonus: + 50 (+.2 AP) per second
  • Ice slow: 35/40/45% for 2 seconds
  • Lightning damage: (.35 AP) over 2 seconds

  • duration: 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 seconds

(W+E) Frozen Gust: Zeran casts a cold wind above ground, that travels a short distance slowing all enemies in the path. At the end of the path the wind freezes creating a small ice boulder that knocks up and damages enemies it hits.

  • 70 mana
  • range 475
  • slow: 15/17/19/21/23%
  • Knock up: .5/.5/.75/.75/1 second

  • 1.5 second delay between glides
  • 50/65/80/95/110 (+.5 AP) each strike.

Zeran's Playstyle Zeran is a control freak, which makes him excel at zoning, peeling, and disengaging in team fights. In lane Zeran focuses on controlling the other laner's movement and dissuades his opposition from engaging upon him by poking them down with his enhanced basic attacks. Zeran is a team fighter and excels in ambushes/ganks. What he lacks in mobility he makes up for with movement impairing attacks.

**Using the Elemental Abilities **

  1. Zeran's elemental abilities are cast in the direction/location of the mouse
  2. Abilities are cast by toggling a third element. Example: Fire and Ice are toggled; toggling lightning (or another fire/ice) will cause you to cast Fire Blast. You still get the toggled element and it's basic attack enhancement.
  3. When two elements are toggled, they stay toggled for 5 seconds instead of 2.

Recommended spell combinations

  1. Glide Lightning and E.M.P. - can be used together to better ensure a target gets silenced by E.M.P.
  2. Frozen Gust and Napalm - the slow and knock up of Gust can ensure time for Napalm to detonate on a target.

Weaknesses/Hints/Strengths Even with Glide Lightning, Zeran is not too mobile of a champion, but his plethora of slows will allow him to be safe in most skirmishes. If you don't basic attack between toggling elements you can use all three enhancements after your casted ability. Zeran works well with and is susceptible to engagers like JarvanIV.

I really wish riot would make a mage like this, a true mage with lots of spells.
