Nidalee rework ideas
Ok so nidalee. i think we can all agree that she needs work to some degree or another. the question is how. she has a really cool theme that isn't quite lived up to in her current gameplay. Here are some of my thoughts.
Passive: i have no problems with her current passive it's a unique mechanic that provides really cool options for the nidalee player. the way her abilities interact with her passive however could use some tweaking and i will address this below.
human Q: nidalee throws a javelin in a straight dealing dmg and remaining in the enemy for a duration. Q is a trade mark of hers that needs little change for the most part. however, i think that it should be changed to deal flat dmg at all ranges rather than its current form. i would also like the projectile speed to be increased by a fair amount to compensate, making it more skill dependent than it is currently where you mostly land spears by people not dodging rather than you aiming and predicting the enemies movement. her projectile width may need to be reduced slightly as well to more accurately reflect the spears visuals. it will also have a pretty significant cooldown increase from what it is currently.
Human W: her traps need a big overhaul to give them so actual functionality. the idea of a huntress using traps fits her theme well, but currently provide almost no value or options that i think of when i think of a hunter. i would like this ability rework to provide the options and utility that traps should.
trap 1- when trap is placed on a wall she creates a net trap that grabs the first enemy that passes over its "trigger" area, slamming them into the wall it was placed on stunning them for a small duration(dealing a small amount of % max health aka their weight) and marking them as hunted.
trap 2- when nidalee places a trap in open ground it become a leg hold trap and invisible if placed in brush. when activated a short rope is attached to the enemy champion keeping them within a small area(essentially a very small jarvan ult that you can't dash out of) for X duration marking them as hunted. when caught in the leg hold trap, the trapped champion can shoot/cut the trap off with basic attacks. whether it should be cut with either 2 or 3 autos(or scale with the ability) will be decided "as balanced dictates"
. this trap does not do dmg.
note- these new traps are more complicated than her current traps and as such, they have a channel time to place(similar to
evolution)
Human E: nidalee empowers her auto attacks making them do bonus dmg. after a set amount of subsequent attacks on a target(3 maybe? everyone likes that number right lol) the target is marked as hunted. the goal of this ability was to take away her dependency on landing her Q(since it now has a much higher cooldown) as well as add some combat power to her human form outside of Q spamming. this was a hard ability to try and come up with and i am open to suggestions for better alternatives that serve the same purpose in a more interesting and fun way. i just honestly couldn't come up with something better unfortunately Q.Q
cougar Q: nidalee slashes the enemy dealing dmg(similar to her current E visually, but still like her current Q functionally). if the target has a javelin in them(from her human Q) nidalee rips it out dealing bonus dmg and are slowed. this is overall the same as current but with an added interaction if she marks them with her Q specifically.
cougar W: nidalee pounces gaining extra range and becoming targeted against hunted enemies. if she pounced on a hunted target the cooldown is reduced. again this is overall the same, but with a higher base cooldown. this will enable her to "hunt" down enemies with the cooldown reset but make it more difficult for her to flee do its its increased base cooldown.
cougar E: nidalee crouches slowing herself and gaining stealth. while crouched, she gains increased range on her pounce(cougar W) though probably not as much as her empowered pounce i'm not sure. she cannot go stealth while enemies have vision of her, she must break line of sight in order for her stealth to activate. this makes it great for ganking, but almost useless for running away except for the increased pounce range. this also adds a bit of mind games(do they have this bush warded or not?) allowing enemies to try and bait her out of position.
Nidalee ult: nidalee transforms into a cougar changing her abilities. while in cougar form nidalee gains increased base health regen. when attacking hunted targets in cougar form she gains life steal on auto attacks and abilities. she gains increased attack speed and/or passive duration based on ult lvl starting at lvl 6(this is so she has incentive to put points into her ult rather than just put points into her regular abilities) context- i'm not sure how the numbers are gonna work exactly or how they will scale for her healing/lifesteal, this is compensation for removal of her human E heal to help her sustain in the jg.
my goal with update is to turn nidalee into a true hunter with utility rather than just a straight up assassin that nukes from a distance then nukes from up close. to change her from a spear spam bot to a champ with a full kit of abilities that provide the player as well as the enemies with options in-game. also, i kinda want her to scale with ad or hybrid to give her more power to her human form. it also makes sense to me thematically for her to use AD aka strength with maybe some magic to empower when throwing spears rather than only magic. tell me what you guys think. i put a lot of thought into this rework and hope you guys like it :) leave your feedback below, share with friends and up vote if you think my ideas are any good.
