My proposed Idea for a Taric Rework

So yea I am kind of new to the boards, guys. My in game name is Rerric and I'm a 3 year player of League, been playing since the start of season 2. Kinda ashamed I never participate in the boards XD regarding the fact that I have a ton of ideas to share for the game that I love much more than many others.

Alright well one of my favorite supports since season 2 (or season 1 I think) is the outrageously awesome Taric, the Gem Knight. I absolutely adore the concept of him in general. An openly kinda queer guy who is obsessed with Gemstones and protecting people. There's a part of me that's like that. :) minus the gems unfortunately.

Taric's gone through some harsh changes over the years. His kit has been altered In a manner that... For me.. Makes him less enjoyable. He has much less power than before, much less mana sustain in lane, and much less overall usefullness. Essentially, in his current stage, he's just an annoying, impossible to kill eyesore of a champion who's only real use in team fights besides peeling for the adc, is being a giant buff to nearby allies. His only CC is his short range stun. Although it's a point and click, I just feel like his E and his whole kit in general is out of place in the current meta.

A Gem Knight deserves more than this. He certainly needs a VU, but I have some proposed ideas for an overhaul to his kit.

I'm really sick of getting dominated by Leona's in lane, and I think that has to change (not directed towards countering JUST Leona, of course) So without further ado, here is my idea for Taric:

Taric - the Gem Knight P- Natural Solace: A percentage of Taric's armor is supplied to nearby allies, while reducing that of nearby enemies.

Armor Percentage: (3-36%) (Lvl 1-18)

Q- Imbue: Taric heals a target ally unit (or himself) and empowers their next basic attack to deal bonus magic damage.

Heal: (80/120/160/200/240) (+0.6 Ap) Bonus Magic Damage: (20/40/60/80/100) (+0.6 Ap) Mana Cost: (65/75/85/95/105) Cooldown: (14/12/10/8/6) seconds

W- Gemcraft: Taric gains a flat amount of increased armor plus bonus based off his armor (does not stack with itself).

Additionally, Taric's armor will break down over time. Taking a certain number of instances of physical damage will cause his armor to burst, removing the passive bonus but damaging nearby enemies for a percentage of their maximum health in physical damage. Taric can also manually break his armor by activating the ability, in which case the radius of the blast is increased.

The armor reforms once the ability comes off of cooldown again.

Bonus Armor: 15/20/25/30/35 (+0.05 Armor) Instances: 3/4/5/6/7 Physical Damage: 5/10/15/20/25% of their Max health Mana Cost: 30/40/50/60/70 Cooldown: 10/8.5/7.0/5.5/3.0 seconds

E- Dazzle: Taric emits a flash of light upon a target enemy unit, dealing magic damage. The target is also blinded if they are facing towards Taric, and are greatly slowed if they are facing away. The target takes more damage the closer they are to Taric.

Blind Duration: 1.0/1.25/1.5/1.75/2.0 Slow Duration: 2.0/2.0/2.0/2.0/2.0 Slow Amount: 30/40/50/60/70% Magic Damage: 50/80/110/140/170 - 100/160/220/280/340 (+0.8 Ap) Mana Cost: 80/80/80/80/80 Cooldown- 9/9/9/9/9

R- Radiance: Taric leaps a small distance in the cursor's direction, (able to hop over terrain) then slams the ground in a mighty and outrageous smash of his hammer, creating a large shockwave of radiant energy that slightly knocks back enemies, damages them, and empowers all ally units who come in contact with the shockwave to gain bonus Ability Power and Attack Damage for a short time.

Magic Damage: 150/300/450 (+0.75 Ap) Bonus Attack Damage: 15/25/35 Bonus Ability Power: 15/25/35 Empowerment Duration: 6/6/6 Mana Cost: 100/100/100 Cooldown- 85/65/45 seconds

His gains in power and versatility I feel like would make Taric quite a force to be reckoned with in the bottom lane. Adding some extra engage potential, harass, and mobility to his tanky and supportive moveset I feel like would be a nice change and overall make him more fun to play. His ult shouldn't be some gimpy little ground pound, it should be an impactful team fight engaging/disengaging tool where Taric unleashes his inner power (of gems).

well I don't want to make this too long, so I'll share some more later on. Anyway thanks for reading (I'll be shocked if anyone does) and answer my poll question if you have the time! :)

Thanks again, Rerric

Update: v1 Idea suggested to change E to a blind.

first off I am not a homophobe people can date whoever they want I just think overly gay (mostly the fake voices and pink scarves with dumb glasses type) people are annoying "so" as long as the VU doesn't go overboard and make him too flamboyant this seems fine as a rework. maybe a few numbers changed but yeah.

I like your ideas, I'm not sure I totally agree with passive armor reduction and your suggestion for dazzle feels kinda similar to Cassiopeia's ult because it affects you differently if you are facing him. For the most part though I think this rework still feels like Taric. Numbers adjustments would take place as necessary.

I think that the idea of the whole dazzle idea was pretty brilliant but as drathturtle has been mentioning it is kind of a copy of Cassiopeia ult. But what I've been thinking you could alter this to is kind of unique to anyone only with the same set up as Cassiopeia . What i suggest is that if the target is facing you Then they are majorly slowed AND blinded (because when you're dazzled by a light it blinds you). If they are not facing you they receive only the slow portion of the spell.
