My Thoughts on Expanding the possibilities of more Gamemodes and players in a match
The More Multiplayer the Better!
Often times, while playing online with my friends, we form big enough of a group (6-10 people or so) on Teamspeak, that we don't have enough room for us to all be in the same game on the same team together. We usually just tend to do an inhouse custom game where we pit our friendships against each other (friendships are ruined in inhouse games XD ) or we just split up into seperate games altogether.
I want to change that, so that somehow we can have all 10 of us on one team, enjoying the experience that is League of Legends together. The more players enjoying the same game together at the same time, I personally think makes the game even more enjoyable.
How can this be done?
I don't know about you guys, but I really like the idea of adding a new, larger map to League of Legends (yes even bigger than Summoner's Rift) in which the designated gamemode would require more than 10 players in some way.
The way this could be implemented is through more than 2 teams with perhaps more than 5 players. I'm just throwing around ideas for hopefully a large discussion .
I mean the possibilities are endless. I can think of a ton of fun things Riot could implement.
Potential Team Arrangements:
- 3 Teams on 1 new 3 lane Map, 3-5 Players per team
- 2 Teams on a larger new map, 6-12 Players per team
- 1 Team on a large map designed for PvE, 5-10 Players
- 4 Small Teams on a Dominion-Like Map, designed for Squad Deathmatch-like gamemode (if you've ever played Battlefield) 3-6 Players per team
- 2 Teams on a massive 3 Lane Map (massive version of Summoners Rift where each lane is basically a Howling Abyss) 9-15 players per team
It's not just my opinion...
Honesty I think other people would like this idea. There could be setbacks, such as lack of Ram for servers to run these massive complex player games, or perhaps extended wait times for games ( though I personally wouldn't mind ) Imagine the Champ Selection, though. You're gonna be waiting for a long time for the 10 players on your team to get ready and lock in. If you're patient and/or a hardcore gamer I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem, though. You may or may not agree.
I think a gamemode of this type would also set League of Legends apart from the typical Moba Standard of 5v5 3 Lane Matches. If games like Battlefield, Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, etc can host games with up to 30+ players, why can't League?
Petition for Permanent Gamemodes? ;d
I also would like this gamemode to remain permanent, I hate it when Riot releases a gamemode that everyone seems to enjoy (aside from URF) and then days later neglect it and throw it in the recycling bin of "failure" Gamemodes. We need another option to play and hopefully that option will feature more players.
Anyway, I won't make this post too long. Let me know what you think and answer my poll if you got the time. :) Thanks for reading!
P.S. I'm planning on posting to the boards (because they seem like the best way to get ideas heard and put out there) once a week from now on. Stay in touch.
