Description

Mortis is is a deadly heavy armored warrior who has been awaken by Lissandra from the Frostguard Tribe. (will be describe in the lore) He as the shape of a tall man, but the corruption to his soul made him a simple killing machine devoid of emotion. He always wear a emotionless expresion and only on rare occasion will you see a faith smile... as he kill an enemy. Without further delay, here the Lore of Mortis, The Frozen Champion

In the past, Mortis was a proud warrior of Freljord, defending it's land with great attention and justice. He was loved by everyone and especially by his best friend, Braum, The Heart of Freljord.

The more he fought, the more he figured he was powerless against all the danger the land had to give, so he sought a way to help. He turned to an elder of his village who told him of an ancient blade trapped in the ice at the peak of the mountain. It was at that moment that everything changed. The blade he found, Icebane, was indeed powerful, but the price was his sanity. It is said that the blade was a way for the Ice Witch to speak to the wielder.

For several year Mortis fought both the enemy of his village and the sword itself. Braum was watching his friend going deeper in the pit of insanity, unable to help him in anyway. When the Winter's Claw came asking for his village to submit to they leader, Sejuani, it was Mortis that answered. The answer Sejuani receive was simple... two wolf, without they riders. Mortis stood alone against the army incoming, but he never let them any close to the village. Sadly, that battle killed the part of him that was keeping the sword influence in check...

When the battle ended, something that no one could foresee happened. He turned his blade toward those he pledge to protect with his life. Without the intervention of Braum, the whole village would have been slaughtered. His shield was able to push him back and he fall off the edge of a cliff. Mortis was though to be dead at that moment.

It was few year after that Mortis came back, more twisted then ever, by the side of Lissandra. There is as much story about Mortis as there is about Braum right now, but none of his are story of feat, only story of massacre. Unable to control himself anymore, he answer only the call of Lissandra. It is said that if there a blizzard outside, there a lot of chance that Mortis is at the door of your village.

Some think that it was first Lissandra who deceived Mortis to get the blade. All we do know is that a new terror is by Lissandra side, and that no one is safe in Freljord.

Ability

Side note : Mortis start with an item called "Icebane, the Cursed Blade", which he cant sell or discard. The Blade evolve on kill or assist of enemy champion.

Passive Harbringer of Death : Whenever Mortis kill an enemy (minion/monster/champion), his cursed blade gain power, empowering his ability. (1 stack gain normal minion/monster, 3 on large minion/monster and 5 on champion kill/assist)

50 stack : Double the range at which Frozen Glare / Frozen Grip can be casted

100 Stack : Never-ending Winter will now deal increasing damage over the time the enemy get hit. (25% bonus damage each time hit)

150 Stack : Frozen Strike will now stun the primary target. ( same target cannot be stunned twice for 12 second)

200 stack : Mortis blade evolve into "Icebane, the Harbringer" increasing the stat the Item give

250 stack : The damage Ice Age deal is increase and slow the enemy for the duration of the spell by 15 %

Passive Frozen Prison Upon death, Mortis is trapped into ice, slowly suffocating over 6 second. His ally can free him from his prison to bring him back into the fight at half Health. If the 6 second are exhaust, Mortis will be slain.

Cooldown : 240 second Ice prison health : 50% of his current BASE health (not modified by Item) Can be targeted by spell. Armor and magic resist : 0

(exemple : Mortis Level 10 wtih Warmog Armor no mastery would have 2273 hp (1273 from base and 1000 from warmog) The frozen prison will then have 637 hp)

Cooldown : 12 second Damage : 20/30/40/50/60 + 10% Attack damage per second Duration : 1 second for each Frozen Soul Stored Slow effect : 25 % Range : 400 Cost : All Stored Frozen Soul

First Cast : Mortis mark an enemy target. That target take 7/9/11/13/15 % more damage from Mortis that last up to 5 second.

Frozen Glare build up in power the longer it last, building 25 % additionnal damage each second for a maximum of 100%.When the Frozen mark is removed, it explode dealing 30/40/50/60/70 (+ 7 % BONUS Attack damage) Magic damage. If Mortis has stored at least 3 Frozen Soul, the ability will deal True damage

Second Cast : Mortis can reactivate the mark early to cast the Frozen Grip, removing the mark in the process. The marked target is Stun of 0.5 second, All nearby enemy are then pull to the marked target. After the effect, all enemy are then frozen in place (snared) for 1.5 second.

Cooldown : 15 second Range 600 Radius of the pull : 500

Tip

When fighting as Mortis

Mortis greatly benefit of movement speed, as to make sure your enemy can't escape from his many slow ability

When casting Ice Age, make sure you are away from any possible stun.

Remember you can only detonate Frozen Glare mark when you are also in range.

When fighting Against Mortis

If you have a Frozen Glare Mark on you, make sure you are away from Mortis and your other teammate as will do devastating AoE damage

Mortis has a large number of slowing ability, if you are a range, STAY AWAY FROM HIM.

Mortis can be stunned while he is casting Ice Age. If possible, stun him to cancel the channeling early.

Joke Mortis use some power to create an Ice cream and give it to a nearby poro (because one appear out of nowhere)

Special Taunt toward any Freljord champion when he come out of his Frozen Prison : You taught it would be enouph to end me? Freljord will never be safe! All your effort, were in vain. (Evil Laugh)

Synergy

Morgana : Mortis Work well with Morgana, as she can make it easy for Mortis to close in the enemy. Also he spell Shield combined with Ice Age make it unstoppable!

Karthus : The isnt much to say here... DEATH FROM AFAR!!!

Lissandra : Lissandra Slow combined with Mortis Slow ability will make it impossible for prey to escape ^^

Counter MasterYi : Master Yi is immune to Slow ability of Mortis, and is way stronger in 1 V 1.

Xerath : His range make it impossible for Mortis to catch up to him

Caitlyn : Cait range give her the possibility to kite Mortis To death

Interesting, Sounds like a mean top lane or jungle, great chase capability, all around worthy of a spot. Is Icebane a Rengar like Trinket?

I was wondering with his q how u say he calls down the power of the freiljord, but he is the enemy of the freiljord now right? Along with his r he calls the power lissandra gave to him, how can u have two different powers he can call upon, especially when those two powers are enemies.

Sounds nice! I have a couple of comments

  1. His item should be not sellable. That kind of makes it... lame? From a fantasy point of view. You have this guy whose very soul was completely corrupted by his blade, which is also the source of his power and his greatest weapon and you can sell it? That just seems wrong to me :|

  2. I really, really like what you did with his revive passive because he can't use it on his own. However, that being said, I don't think the tomb's health should scale with his maximum health because you're basically making him want to shy away from health... even tough that's one of the stats his kit otherwise encourages him to build. Maybe just make it scale with his level instead?

  3. You have 6 values for the damage amplification instead of 5! :P You listed it as 10%/11%/12%/13%/14%/15% Also, I like that he has to sacrifice some damage to access his mobility. However, I would like to suggest a change to his kit, but it's purely based on personal preference. Change it from a targeted ability to a skillshot. Yes, it would basically function like Lee's Q, but it would add a lot more depth to Mortis' kit. The one gripe I have with Mortis (and bruisers in general) is that he just **seems **too easy to play when you're facing him. Basically the only counterplay to his kit is stay away from his threat range. Overall I like the kit and I feel like the passive on his item gives him more decision points, but facing him? I'd probably fkin hate it. Especially after his Q stuns, since it's an AA enhancer, so it's basically another point and click ability.

  4. I like his ulti, but there's two things that kinda bugs me. First of all, you don't mention whether it deals damage only to enemy champions or if it deals damage to all enemies or what not. I mention this because IMO it should only deal damage to enemy champions. Why? Well because he can basically push all the lanes at once if he uses his ultimate. Ziggs was nerfed because he could clear one wave from semi-global range. Also he kinda aggros all the monsters in the jungle XD Second thing is why does his ultimate consume all of his frozen souls if it only does something with them when he as 5 souls? It seems to me that it should either have the effect scale with the number of souls spent or, and that's what I would go for personally, make him spend souls only if he has 5 of them already.

Very interesting concept.

I do love the item, it reminds me of Rengar and while it sort of takes away the uniqueness of that, it has its own unique bonuses and thus makes it awesome.

His Q is pretty basic, which is not a bad thing because it also has a lot of synergy with his other abilities. I feel he has a lot of slows though in addition to his dash this makes it almost impossible to run from him (imagine if Ashe had a dash lol)

The W is great, love it, have nothing bad to say about it :)

The E is a pretty cool concept, i think the dash seems out of place but i dont see it as much of a problem. It does a bit too much damage for its utility, i feel you should have to sacrifice damage if you want the dash, meaning immediately popping it to dash lowers your damage potential. Other then that the ability is fine.

Im a little confused about the Ult i think its just me not reading it correctly. The ult covers the entire map? It will only empower allies if he has 5 souls?

Overall i enjoyed the concept though so great job :)

Firstly, change the title because Anivia is also a frozen champion. They changed Sion's title for the same reason.

Passive Harbinger, not Harbringer.

Ice Prison Cool and balanced idea, at least in teamfights. I would make this a passive attached to his ult though because he already has a passive and having it in lane is worse than useless because all it does without allies nearby is make you wait 6 seconds before the death timer starts.

Frozen Strike In its basic form, this is not particularly useful. It is also in this awkward spot where it sometimes increases your damage and sometimes decreases it depending on your exact AA damage and skill level, so you have to constantly look at the number to figure out whether or not this will deal more damage than a regular auto attack. Britt's pistol whip had the same problem.

"Luckily" the dilemma is soon resolved due to the unique item, which gives you so much AD that you will probably lose damage by using this in exchange for a minimal slow. Does not seem worth the skill points.

Anyway, the AoE from having souls makes this much better and you should probably get 2 souls ASAP. The slow sucks and the stun may also suck, depending on what exactly the unspecified "short duration" is.

Never-Ending Winter It deals less base damage than Shyvana Burnout with half the scaling, but you can upgrade it to make it almost equal to Burnout. Oh, and you can only cast it (once) at full power after being near 5 kills (pro games tend to have about 10-15 kills total) and then you lose your souls so your other abilities suck more. This has to be the most useless ability I've ever seen in a champion concept. :p

Frozen Mark The damage amp is fine. The active part is one of those "the longer you wait to press the key again, the better it is" affairs that shows up regularly in concepts (ahem Kaala's Achoo! and Eo's Reverb. I'm guilty).

It deals decent damage at level 1, especially considering it's a manaless point and click ability with zero counterplay. Later on, it caps out at an insignificant 140 at level 5 and the AD scaling is a whole 14% if you let it charge. For comparison's sake, Talon's Rake has a 120% AD scaling. The damage on this is so bad past the early game that there is really no point in waiting other than to set up...

...the 15 second Orianna ult with 25% bigger radius, a stronger pull and 1.5 second snare. Woah.

Ice Age Karthus ult with damage over time. This breaks the trend by having lower base damage and much higher scaling than its counterpart, even taking into account that AD is less valuable than AP. I like how it buffs allies though and perhaps this should be its main use because that part isn't similar to Karthus' ult.

What I do have a problem with is the soul cost. When you have 5 souls, you can't use R anymore without losing them and therefore losing your AoE damage on Q whether or not you actually care about the defense buff. And god forbid you consign yourself to wasting those souls to kill some escaping dude at 100 hp and you get instantly stunned and your ult goes on cooldown before it deals significant damage AND you lose 5 souls. GG.

Also, you can only pick up souls within 400 radius and this ult is global, so forget about getting any souls from this even if just walking over and hitting the enemy with your sword would yield a soul.

This ability has a nice theme, but its effects seem like a first draft. Can be improved.

Item Okay, another way to empower abilities. Try to stay focussed on one or two core mechanics instead of going full mary sue and giving your character every possible bonus.

Okay, so the item gives you 90 free AD (O_O), 270 health (ok) and 9 armor and MR (insignificant). This doesn't seem entirely fair.

Gameplay Oddly, this guy's kit seems to encourage him to not build AD because his abilities have low scaling and high (or at least average) base values and you get a crapton of free AD anyway and R scales off tank stats and the only defense in the whole kit is 9 points of armor and MR.

Best role? Support. Ice Prison is now useful from level 1 instead of being a liability in lane. You may be able to collect two souls off a single gank. Frozen Mark is manaless point and click ranged poke with no counterplay and a pull that is more useful even more broken OP against two opponents. The ult is of course a support ult. And you get free stats all over the place anyway.

In short, just build full tank and Enigma ult E their entire team when a teamfight happens, then run away and press R.

I don't think he was supposed to be a support but I have a hard time seeing how he could be useful anywhere else. He is not a viable top because the AoE damage on Frozen Strike is unreliable (once you reach 5 souls, you lose them all next time you press R) and W is completely worthless. He is not a viable jungler because he has no AoE without at least two kills and no sustain. And he is not a viable mid because he has no defense against poke.

Passive: I love this! How long does it take to revive him? How do allies accomplish this? Do they click his icy tomb or attack it? Since there is no way for him to free himself, I'd suggest he can't take damage while entombed.

General comment: Overall sweet concept, I just fear it has a little too much going on between stacks on weapon, collection of frozen souls, etc... It might be worth considering a different route to achieve the same goals. For instance, rather than build stacks like item 3415 I think this item would be better off with evolving mechanics like item 3197. To compensate, I'd make capture of Frozen souls be the cost for each of his abilities with a basal increase in stacks if necessary. But that's just one man's thoughts :)

Ok, here it goes my 1st review :P I could give you a typical review looking at each key point but tbh with you here, i have nothing to say about this its so refined an detailed if someone told me that it was the next upcoming champ i would believe them, all im saying is that its great!

Anyway I really like this champ idea however can his ult be stopped by stuns and ect? all of his abilitys seem really cool keep up the good work P.s sorry for not giving detail feedback not very good at that :s it be great if you could check my champion idea too ^.^
