Riot's Mentality in making skins (Not a rage thread)

I just think its pretty interesting how they nerf a champion pretty hard and then they release a really cool skin to make them viable again. In the newest instance, sona had been nerfed excessively in the past few months and now she has a ultimate skin. Coincidence? I think not :) What do you all think?

Honestly, when it comes to skins, there is always going to be a shit storm no matter what they do. Either they buff a champion and release a skin and people say they are just being greedy because they are trying to sell it, or the nerf a champion and release a skin and people say they are stupid for not giving it to a champion that doesn't normally see play. Pick your poison.

I can sometimes agree.

However Evelynn and Skarner got cool skins, but were not the best and still are not that strong.

Edit: I DO think however, a lot of the time new cool skins make people want to play that champ more and thus people realize how good they are. Not the other way around.

The ultimate skin had a lot to do with why there were so many nerfs/balance changes. They don't want to make a champ too strong when releasing something as cool as this, otherwise the entire game will be filled with that champ on the skin release day and nobody will have much fun against it.
