Really Cool Concepts I Would Like To See On Upcoming Champions

  1. The ability to control minions or transform them. A champion that depends on minions and could focus there target on a enemy champion would be really cool or when I say the ability to 'transform' them, I was thinking something like channeling a laser on an enemy minions and converting them to your team. This would be really cool and it could be a champion passive. If it had a lets say 100 second cooldown and you convert a enemy super minion into your own minions that would be a really interesting champion.

  2. A champion that deals with gold. Imagine if you had a support champion that gives you gold. This would be incredibly OP but also really cool. Or, a champion that steals gold or even a champion that uses GOLD instead of mana or energy! There are so many possibilities with gold for a champion.

  3. A champion that has it's own separate items. There was a champion concept I once saw of Doran as a champion and he would have his own items built from item 1056 item 1055 item 1054 . If he wanted to go AP he would build off of Doran's ring. If he wanted to go AD he would build off of Doran's blade and if he wanted to go tank he would build off of Doran's shield.

  4. A super speed champion. A champion that moves so fast catching them is a very difficult task. This champion would move faster then Singed Hecarim Rammus at full build with summoner 6 activated! If it was a support champion this could be really good for catching up to them quickly and healing/shielding/Ccing. I think a concept like this would work best on a support because they move so fast they can't be stopped but they don't do any damage so it would be balanced.

  5. A champion that uses or controls structures. A champion that could make towers attack faster, change the target on towers, or make them invulnerable would make tower diving a whole new thing with this champion around.

  6. A champion that can mess with terrain. If a champion like this was to be created I wouldn't want it to be like Taliyah were you just build a Trump wall. A champion that can mess with terrain would be like making holes through terrain in which your team can walk through, closing off entries, or even CREATING A MAZE. It would be so fun if you could create a maze for the enemy team to get through to get to your team. Lets say you team started dragon and the enemy team is coming, you ult and now they have to find there way though this small maze to get to dragon!

  1. I believe there was a Dota hero a long time ago that uses this feature, and it was impossible to balance.
  2. Calling it now, Galio rework is going to use this.

I would like to see a champ that uses some kind of bazaar trading store feature, where you can put up specific items for auction and then players of the same champ in ENTIRELY SEPARATE GAMES which are happening concurrently could purchase said items.

They seem overloaded as shit

Gold stealing is never going to be a thing, they removed mana stealing and denying for the same reason they wouldn't add gold stealing.

Giving free gold is also too OP, Twisted Fate used to give his entire team free gold when they got kills and assists but they made it only affect himself.

Using gold as a resource probably isn't viable either. They'd have to generate insane amounts of gold to be able to use abilities regularly, and at that point why wouldn't you just build damage and have a full build 10 minutes into the game? They'd have to make items scale in strength only on that champion so it's not ridiculous early on, but that would force them to buy lots of items to keep up instead of using it as a resource as intended. At that point you'd have to make a separate currency you can't buy regular items with, like Gangplank. You could make a champion that can't buy items and use the gold as a resource, but I'm not entirely sure that would work in League. You'd basically be playing a Heroes of the Storm hero.

There already exists a champion with unique items: Viktor. It would be cool to expand on that idea though, maybe a blacksmith that creates custom items to fit the situation.

Taliyah was originally going to have an ability that would cut holes through terrain, but that's not feasible right now. All the terrain is hand painted and they'd have to make a ridiculous amount of new assets to make it look even remotely decent. It's definitely something they want to do though.

A champion that steals gold? Sounds like an interesting concept for a stealthy assassin-type champion.

#3 is Viktor

I think it would be cool if there was a symbiote champ. It would attach to allies (at least part of the time) and share their hit box. It could be like a support by buffing the ally and/or a mage by casting spells from their location. The ally could hear the symbiote and see its spell indicators so they could be prepared to position correctly. Maybe as an ult it could briefly attach to an enemy champ and debuff them (for example use stealth to attach to a champ which provides vision and could silence that champ and the immediately detach). Of course something would have to be done to decide who takes what damage when with shared hit boxes.

While the gold idea isn't really viable, I do like the others. Primarily the unique items and the tower champ. Towers don't mean anything anymore, so I would really like to see them get some attention.

The one that uses gold to do stuff seems like it could be so good as a concept if worked on, yet so difficult to balance if the gold they use affects allied champions at all or affects enemy champions too drastically. I am seriously interested in it though, as well as the other concepts. Good ideas mate.[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

1 - Minions exist only in lane at certain times, which causes the potential for this ability to feel useless in the jungle, at later periods of the game, or in other situations when minions aren't around. Something like this might be fun as an item active that you can opt into and can be balanced around easier.

2 - Gold is the supreme balance lever in league. Making it significantly easier for one side to get additional gold in any significant amount creates huge problems with game balance. Back when they redid the support gold items, there was a huge issue with this - both bot laners taking relic shield, etc.

3 - Individual items for champs has been tried with Rengar and Viktor - Rengar initially had to buy his bonetooth necklace if he wanted to opt into that gamble, and Viktor having his hex core. In Rengar's case, it became hard to balance the bonetooth necklace against other items in a way that made the necklace equivalently valued - either it was way too good and you had to get it or it was meh and other options were more consistent. Viktor always has his Hexcore, which causes the opposite issue - it feels bad to some players to be forced into having this item in a slot. Having unique item builds is interesting, but making those items unique and exist as a meaningful choice against all the other items in the game is hard to manage, especially when only one champion can use them.

4 - Being fast is OK, as long as there are limits. Rammus and Hec have their move speed boost as part of thier kit, and it lasts a decent time but the cooldown is longer than the active time. Both speed increases gradually ramp up to max as well. This makes the ability feel more fair and encourages using it to go in rather than run away. Kled (when dismounted) gets an insane move speed buff, but only when running at an enemy. Singed only gets access to a speed increase with his ult. All these have periods of downtime that make them balanced. Having a champion that can just move quickly all the time for no reason and with basically no cost would cause issues (teemo's move quick is an annoying ability, but the speed increase is not an extreme amount)

5 - This one sounds interesting - I'm thinking something like the nexus seige powers could be interesting. The turrets on all three maps would have to be updated to mesh with this ability though. It also is only useful in lane, under towers you control, which is pretty limiting.

6 - Busting down terrain is something Riot explored with Tal, and is probably an idea that will come back in another champ's kit.
