> _Was inspired by the link at like 5am to write, and realized that despite my love for these two champions, I have never done anything related to league aside from character design. _

"I'm sorry, Leona." Diana, the Aspect of the Moon stood over the ancient Lunari scriptures. Each of them had the implication of a battle between the sun and the moon. Everytime she even read about the Solari she was drowned in sorrow. How could they have betrayed her in this way? She leans forward onto the table, wiping her tears away, sighing once more. She found herself chasing that memory, wishing she could undo what she had done.

"Diana, what are you wearing?" Leona questioned, the wind whistling around the village gates. The Solari was wearing her traditional golden trimmed armour. She was the strongest warrior in the village, and her posture suggested she knew it. Her hand rested on the hilt of sheathed blade. Diana couldn't help but admire her. She was strong, powerful and respected. Despite Diana's self doubt in her beliefs, she now had evidence to support her theory of the Lunari. A suit of armour and a blade. Unlike Leona's armour which was rigid, almost sharp, Diana's was smooth and circular. Like it was supposed to redirect a blade strike. The blade was long, with hilt that went up to her shoulder.

"I can prove it, Leona. The Elders told me I was wrong but I need to see them now!" Diana's voice was full of excitement and joy. It would be a long time before it ever carried itself in such a way. Leona, confused by the Lunari armour, led the way to the Elders. Angry, with being disturbed so abruptly, the Elders grumbled about Diana's presence. Her heretical questioning often irritated them to no endm and now here she was again, this time in strange garb. "You told me the Lunari weren't real. You denied their existance but I climbed The Mountain! I found the Lunari temple! There are scriptures from the Solari there! The evidence to support my claims are my armour, and this blade! Why would you deny me if you knew all along?" Her voice raised itself, revealing the hurt inside. Each time she questioned them, a worse punishment came. And she was right, from the very beginning.

"More of this Lunari Filth? Diana, you stand before us in armour from a dead order. An order that no longer exists and belongs in the past! Your heresy will be tolerated no more! We have tried to be gracious, and give you opportunities to find your faith in the sun, but this is the final straw. Your punishment, is death. Now. Execute her." The Elder Ashla, shouted. Leona nods stepping towards Diana, drawing her sword. She rests her hand on Diana's shoulder. Almost as if one final comfort, before Leona's blade would silence the heretic.

"This is not heresy! And I will not be treated as such!" Diana's outrage caused her to move much faster, unsheathing her sword. She dashes forward, surrounded in moonlight, slicing Ashla down. Tears streamed down Diana's face, torment. She was breaking apart. She was now fighting the very order who took her in and raised her. And now, here she was, in a final stand. Before Leona could even fight, Diana creates three orbs of moonlight, almost as if she had done this before. The orbs incinerate the other Elders. All that remained was Leona and the Guards. An arc of moonlight is launched towards Leona, who blocks it with her shield. The force sends her flying out of the building, however. The next few moments happen so fast, that Diana doesn't even recall how they happened. Waking up from this violent rage, she stands in a destroyed Grand hall, and surrounded by dead bodies. Terrified at what she had done, she ran to the door. As she steps out into the snow, she sees Leona, unconscious in the snow. One last look. Now it was Diana, who had to be strong, outspoken, and devout. She would rebuild the Lunari, and seek peace with the Solari, though she was naive to how difficult this would be.

Back in the present, Diana was so lost in her past, that she didn't notice the heavily armoured woman behind her. "Diana! I finally found you!" The voice was so familiar. Strong. Diana froze. She never wanted this. Turning, she faces Leona. "You will pay for what you have done! You killed the Elders. You hurt too many people. I can't let you live." Leona fires an arc of Solar energy and dashes forward. Stunned by the solar light, Diana barely had time to grab her sword and block the incoming shield strike.

"I didn't want to do that, Leona. I never wanted this! I want peace between our Orders! You seen how they ignored my evidence! They sentenced me to death!" Diana struggles under the weight of the shield and sees Leona raise her pommel and it strikes Diana in the face. There was no way she could react to block the glowing shield. It strikes her and she is thrown against the wall. It cracks from the force of Diana colliding with her. Leona stood tall above her.

"I don't care, Diana! You killed them. That's what makes you a heretic! Weak for not facing death like a warrior, the way we were raised!" Leona shouts, angered. This was not the place for composure. This was a matter of life and death, and emotions would run high. She was surprised when Diana collides with her, using moonlight to amplify her attack. The Solari is thrown outside, and Diana fires an crescent strike of that same moonlight and dashes again, this time behind Leona. The series of strikes catches the Aspect of the Sun off guard. Forced apart by a clash of blades, the sun begins to rise behind Leona, with the moon high above Diana.

"Leona, I won't stand down. Not for anyone. Not even for you!" Diana cries out, her feelings for Leona no longer important. Everything about their childhood meant nothing. This was a battle of two ideals, not two people. Diana runs forward as Leona surrounds herself with Solar energy. They strike rapidly though neither can get through the other's block. A mistake comes through. Diana oversteps on her strike, and Leona bashes her with the shield. Staggered, Diana has no time to react when Leona hits her right as the solar energy explodes. The force of the attack sends Diana flying. Mid air, Diana sends out another arc of moonlight, this time empowered, and dashes back at Leona, tackling her. Another blur of movement puts her behind Leona. Diana stabs the ground, causing everything to be pulled towards her. Leona goes to block but is to slow. The blade penetrates her armour, piercing through her stomach. "I told you, I won't give up!" Diana says, her gut wrenching from hurting Leona, though Diana had her back to her.

There was nothing left to say, as Leona pauses, feeling herself grow weaker. No. This should make her fight harder. Make her aspire to win. To bring an end to this. Leona grabs Diana, shoving her away, forcing the blade out of her. The Aspect of the Moon is bashed by the shield once more, as Leona picks up her sword and raises it. The circle filled with the sun, it creates an pillar of Sunlight, striking Diana. She charges, blood pouring from her wounds. Unleashing an assault of blade strikes, sending her foe backwards. They stand seperated, both bleeding. Knowing that if this fight didn't end soon, they would both die. Diana lunges forward, stepping past the zenith blade, and inside its reach. Before the shield could come down, The Moon rotates her blade upwards, slicing the shield arm off. It hits the ground with a heavy thud and Leona cries out in pain. There was no adrenaline that could save them. Leona kicks forward, her heavy armour, crushing Diana's ribs. Both surround themselves in their respective energies. Stepping forward, Diana feels the blade collide onto her shoulder but it doesn't matter as the angle is reflected due to her armour design. Her Crescent blade finds a home in the center of the Solari Chest Plate and drives into the hilt. Leona looks down, seeing the blade her wounds. Dropping to her knees, she gasps for air. "M-m-monster...", was the last word that escapes her lips, before she falls, passing on. No sunlight would take her this time. Diana takes joy in what she had just done. It didn't sink in just yet.

"I bested you! The greatest warrior in our village! I wiped out the Solari... and now... I'm alone." Diana pauses, her lip quivering. "So why does it feel like I just destroyed everything I love?! Why?!" Diana drops to her knees. "Why were you so stupid to chase me? Wake up, Leona! Berate me for being so foolish! Just once more! Please! GET UP!" The Aspect of the Moon leans over the body of her former inspiration, crying onto the blood soaked armour. Nothing would ever be the same. She had become exactly what Leona had called her. She could never undo what she was.

Dang... That was emotional. You should get inspired more often, you have a knack for this.

The story itself flowed really smoothly, my only grip is that you write most of it in the present tense. Generally a story is best written in past tense.

I definitely didn't expect the ending, and while I feel that Leona was a bit out of character in the terms of the ferocity of her attacks, the emotional turmoil of her clan elders being murdered would cause somebody to act irrationally.

You have an upvote from me. Keep up the good work. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
