I really like this skin and its such a cool Hellboy reference. I hope the recall animation is her finding a stray cat/poro, and being super nice to it like the real Hellboy. Her joke could be her chugging a beer and burping or that could be a taunt... She literately is the ONLY champ I can think of to use this skin besides Galio but I think since Vi's human it would look a bit better on her. I really want a cat/poro recall animation cause then I'd buy this skin so fast for my husband who loves playing Vi.

Yeah I'd have to agree with this. They could do an Infrenal Vi, nobody can copyright horns, red skin, or even a big stone fist. But THAT particular big stone first is clearly HB's.

Nope. HB's stone fist doesn't have the molten effect inbetween the cracks. This one is just cracked stone with molten lava between. It's literally the difference between light and dark. Furthermore, Hellboy only has one stone fist, "shaves" his horns, doesn't have that much hair, his hair is the opposite color, he dresses far less provocatively, and does not have reddish orange eyes or white lips.

It's an obvious reference, and the stone fist is as close as you can get to a shout out without being a copy. But I say it's not a copy. Riot's artists could probably do a better job of avoiding controversy by making it look more unique.

To the creator of this artwork: It's nice, it really is, but STOP TAKING THE VERY FEW CONSERVATIVELY DRESSED CHAMPIONS AND SKANKING UP THEIR OUTFITS SO THAT THEY LOOK JUST LIKE ALL THE OTHERS. You are diminishing what makes those champions unique. It's childish, embarrassing, and rude.

Right, he's saying Shen is far past borderline in that it's a very non-subtle reference and if Netherrealm Studios took it to court, they'd have a better case than, say, DC Comics would in the case of Super Teemo or Ubisoft would in the case of Talon.

If Nightblade Irelia doesn't have major references to a major game franchise... I don't know what to think. There are a lot of champ skins to pay homage to comic book and video game characters. I'm pretty sure that Rito knows well enough on how to make the reference obvious, but not so much as to make it a blatant copyright infringement.

IIRC, Hellboy is owned by it's creator Mike Mignola, who has a publishing deal with Dark Horse but has all the rights to the character.

Not that Riot would have to do that at all. It's similar enough that people can see it's an homage, but different enough it could never end in a lawsuit unless someone had a patent on all depictions of demonic creatures, or stone gauntlets.
