League Factions: Fight for Bilgewater, Freljord, Icathia, or Bandle City!

Factions is a community game mode based around matches between various Valoranian factions, like Freljord and Icathia, using faction-specific Champion lists. These matches are organized as custom games. In order to make it easier to find a match, we're going to start having pick-up match events oriented toward new Summoners, starting tonight at 5 Pacific (8 Eastern).

Just join the in-client chat (Factions) and ask people for info.

Technically Gnar isn't allied with bandle city, they just sort of took him in after he thawed... hell, even that seems to be mostly assumed considering how he was apparently frozen in the freljord (unless I missed something in his lore).

Gnar is certainly an ancestor of Bandle City Yordles. He's a great asset to BC's roster, being a tank and AD damage when Bandle doesn't have much of either.

In the past, he has been on Freljord's roster, but we decided he'd fit in Bandle's better.

To be fair, as long as the Freljord even has a neutral standing with Bandle City, they would wind up having to tell them about the prehistoric yordle and the yordles would definitely want to take him in considering how most of them are with their own (not to mention they probably know more about how to deal with him than anyone else). The only issue is that Gnar doesn't have much in the way of lore to know what happened after he broke out of the ice. I'm guessing when they go to give Gnar some color lore, they will have something about him getting taken to Bandle City and taking up residence there.

This is true. Factions lore also departs from Riot lore in one major way: the League of Legends still exists. Champions come to the Institute of War and register to become Champions (or are forced, in the case of Champs like Nocturne and possibly Aurelion Sol). It's a big deal when the League gets a new Champion, so if Gnar became a Champion (which, being playable in the game, means that he did) the world already knows about him.

I agree that the Yordles are best equipped to care for Gnar. Plus, Gnar is quite young (relatively speaking. He's prehistoric with the mind of a child) so he likely prefers familiar company; at least, more familiar than the Freljordians. Yordles are also interested in his rage gene, and what they could discover about Yordle-kind with it, so they like to keep him close for study.

Plus, like I said, he rounds out Bandles roster. We take into account lore primarily (Kassadin would never be caught dead with Icathia) but secondarily we consider things like theme and gameplay.

And here when I noticed my tabletop gamer friend had a lot of Noxian champs the first thing I thought of was a Runeterra miniatures game with similar faction divisions.
