Why I love Thresh; [Please read]
I UnbenchedKench basically forced me to write this post. His simple question made me write wayyy too much for a simple comment. It had to be a post.
I've always loved playing the support role in video games that also gets to look badass alongside the main-character and or/strongest player.
For me it first starts at their appearance.
Grotesque ugly champions, or main characters in video games automatically make me not want to play that character.
Thresh has a unique look compared to the other Shadow Isles champions. His appearance isn't like the other shadow isles champions, He doesn't carry just a weapon like many of the others, or go without arms, he has a weapon, and then a Lantern. Something entirely unique to him and custimizable in skins that if not touched upon, the skin could be regarded terrible for that alone.
Another unique thing about his appearance is attention to details that make sense. Why does Hecarim have skulls? Who knows? Why does Maokai have 3 faces instead of 1 when he is referred to as a single entity, who knows? Why does Kalista have multiple spears on her back instead of just 1? Who knows?
However I feel for Thresh everything makes sense, his face always looks not angry to me, but pleasured, pleasured in the form that he is causing Pain. His Lantern has a Lock, as he carries Keys with him to match the Lock. Unlike Hecarims Skulls, His Skulls have a purpose, they feed his chains for his Weapon and Lantern, the look of the chains to be bones matches the fact he tortures people using his whips and chains, which they make up. Lastly his entire Armor set, His Armor set matches his passive where he gets stronger and more resilient as he collects, him having physical armor that gets stronger which is clearly shown in game when he collects souls aswell.
Thresh's kit is one that matches me at an entirety. He is my ideal character type in any video game. I love being able to infinitely grow stronger, which is what his passive brings, he can infinitely gain AP and Armor by collecting the souls of his enemies.
Thresh's Q is my second favorite ability (Although I LOVE all of them) It has a high base damage, long range, and it can take skill to land depending on the situation, It has situational uses where it is better off to NOT use it, and at times can be the difference between a good Thresh and a bad Thresh.
Thresh's W is my third favorite ability (Remember I LOVE all of them) It lets me save allies, lets me absorb damage, engage harder, fight longer, everything I could ever need in a defensive spell is in Thresh's Lantern. It's not as strong as it used to be where it could shield all 5 allies, but one ally is more than enough for me to utilize it strong enough.
Thresh's E is my favorite ability of his whole kit. It is the epitome of Thresh, this ability alone can separate the great Thresh's from the not-so-great Thresh's. It comes with a passive that I love, it boosts my damage heavily by letting it ramp-up or I can use it in quick succession for little boosts, either way it boosts my damage and is strong enough to make ADC's reconsider attacking me when i'm alone early on in the game. It serves great uses in helping CS with Thresh and boosting the potential of securing kills if necessary. Thresh's E active is a knock-back, not a knock-up in my opinion, If running towards you, they are knocked back away, if running away from you, they are knocked back towards you, I can use this in offensive and defensive forms once again which is what I love in supports,
Thresh's R lets me put down CC and a heavy chunk of damage both at the same time. It can let me feel powerful whenever I use it, but I can also use it disengage instead of damage. The extreme amount of versatility that Thresh brings is what I love about him alongside his completely badass look and personality.
Overall the only thing I don't like about Thresh is the fact that Riot has had some great examples for Thresh skins, if they asked for permission from the artists that made them i'm sure they'd be granted permission to use them, and possibly even contribute some of the money over to the makers for the idea + time they spent to make them.

And my personal favorite;
