Champion concept: Unique champ with interesting new mechanics

I've noticed in recent Interviews and champion development blogs that a major focus lately has been to give champions a unique flair that sets them a part from each other. Its cool to see new stuff being introduced with recent champions like Gnar Gnar's uncontrolable transformations and Azir Azir's whole kit just blow my mind! (especially the whole turret mechanic)

This champion concept uses an unexploited style in the league thus far.

Bare in mind I don't have the character back-story or alignment yet or a name or even if they're male or female anything like that. just an Idea that I would like to introduce and let people run with

This would be a support champ with a focus on increasing team gold advantage. Some of their spells would have a mana cost AND a gold cost. A well rounded, mobile melee/fighter support that can Increase their carry's gold and debilitate foes and hit people with a big sack of money!

Skills are up in the air. so I won't put out specifically what key it would be or base damage and health or mana/coin cost for abilities. leave that to the team that does that stuff. I'll just throw out some Ideas.

Passives:

(increased revenue) like Zilean Zilean's global passive, this champ would give a slight increase to all team members' gold income per second (not sure how much) OR (heavy bag) This champion's base damage is increased based on the amount of money they have.

Basic skills: Ideas in no particular order (there are more than 3, these are all just different possibilities)

wheel of fortune (cost mana only) Spins in a circle with their Bag o coin knocking surrounding enemies away a short distance ( This champ would have ways of controlling where they want the enemy to go. I feel a knock back would work well with their kit)

Bribe (cost mana and gold) Casts on enemy silences them, giving a little bit of coin to keep them quiet. charging this ability will give more gold and silence the enemy for a longer period of time (I liked the charge on Sion Sion's recent update. I think charges are the future of LoL the silence would also work with the theme of messing with enemy fighters.)

Charitable donation (costs mana and gold) gives target ally a sum of gold. warm fuzzy feelings take over, and either giving short, but strong boost to health regen for a couple seconds or a small boost for a longer period of time. ( not sure what would be better for them) ( I picture them being a melee harass support. Something to give them a bit more sustain would help out. Carries will also appreciate the added gold!)

pretty shiny (costs mana and coin) Leaves a small pile of coin on the field. enemy champions that come too close dash to it to pick it up. enemy champs receive a small speed boost on the way to it . first enemy champion to pick it up gets the cash. note that enemies can still use skill shots and abilities that don't require them to move away from the gold. (imagine setting your carry up for a skill shot or using it as a tricky escape mechanism to counter a gank or leaving it right under your turret to keep them under fire! haha, BUT this wouldn't act like another silence. It would be like Ahri Ahri's pully thingy combined with Caitlyn Caitlyn's cupcake trap dealy except they can still do some stuff and they get coin when they grab it... lots of opportunity and utility with this one)

Loaded ( mana and coin) Casts on minion or champion. if target is killed, that person receives bonus gold for the kill. (in conjunction with item 3302 relic shield, you could cast on a minion. knock it out and give yourself and your carry a pretty pile of moneys. use it on a champion and make that bounty you got all the sweeter)

Ults:

make it rain (Mana and coin) throws a large sum of money in a radius around him. sending champions and minions scrambling around to pick them up for a set amount of time. (Picture Volibear Volibear's war shout effect on minions except with champions, and they get money at the end used in unison with item 3068 the sunfire cape and other aoe items and spells, good control for team fights or a way to give time for the team to escape in a pinch.)

pick pocket (mana) Champion gets a burst of attack speed. landed attacks earn Champion money.

Blind greed (mana and coin) bribes enemy to follow him around for a set amount of time. (follows him like Mordekaiser Mordekaisers ult or Yorick Yorik's ult. Auto attacks whatever he attacks. attacks on them break the contract)

OR! just give him a 4th basic spell instead of an ult. so all four activated abilities are available from lvl one. Sacrifice a big attack that has everyone scared of you and just have a lot of utility

Now for skin Ideas! 1 robber with ski mask or thief mask and beanie, or ski mask hits people with money sack. 2 old lady in pink floral dress with a sun hat and hits people with a little dog on a leash KIDDING! hits people with a big purse 3 fisherman/woman hit people with a net full sack of fish or shrimp. leaves fish on the ground. all "gold" is fish

a gold centered support seems like a pretty cool idea imo. there need to be new kinds of supports and this could be a nice start

I am LOVING the idea of a passive that is based on the amount of coin being carried! Very unique and a very good general idea, that would add uniquely different considerations in the players' shopping decisions. For example: on first back do I buy boots along with the priority item, or save the gold for the passive bonus?). It also uniquely alters the usual "power spike" associated with a shopping trip back to base, because you lose stats when you spend it. You should still normally be improved from buying items, but that spike wouldn't be quite as sharp. I would also probably lean towards the passive providing sustain, rather than damage, either through armor or through health and/or mana regen. I know it's a little less with your theme of smacking people with a heavier sack, but I'm just not a fan of "support" champions passively gaining damage. Look at how much they have tweaked on Thresh and Braum's damage scalings from souls and health. Give the champ sustain from gold, so they can stay longer to earn more gold, for more sustain....you see where this is going?

I think the idea of spending gold for abilities would also present a very difficult challenge. Not only would the players have to decide between using abilities and the passive's bonus, but also the developers have to balance some form of increased gold generation with that constant gold consumption. They can do it, if they really try, though. Look at the champions that use health as at least a part of their ability resource.

In regards to your ideas of basing the ability names and descriptions on greed, I really like the direction this is going. Playing on natural human tendency. I might call a silence ability "hush money" instead of bribery. I might prefer a charm or taunt (targeted like Taric's stun, not a skill shot like Ahri's charm) and call that attempted bribery or something. I would want this as one of the 3 basic abilities, instead of the slightly similar blind greed ulti idea. As an ulti, I like an AoE, mass charm type of thing. Toss a (fake?) bag of coins on the ground and all enemies in range are drawn towards it. Not pushed like Ori's ult, but walking in toward the sack or something. I think the AoE stun is too similar to some already in use, like Leona or Sona. I realize that a lot of this is just semantics, and we're both going for the same ideas, here. You have some great ones.

A global gold bonus might be a hard sell to Rito, especially in the current meta, where people are content to play safe lanes and farm in the early game. Didn't Twisted Fate's passive gold bonus used to be global, and they made it only for him? Instead, if it's going to be a support champ, give the champion gold bonuses similar to the current support items minus the GP10 stat, such as the bonuses for nearby minion deaths and for harassing opponent champions. They would probably have to make it scale with level somehow or scale it as a passive into one of the other abilities. make them unable to stack it with the use of those gold generating items to balance it all out. I'm thinking they might even be able to weave this into a unique, champion specific trinket or item similar to Rengar's necklace or Viktor's power core? Call it a loot sack, even, to continue the theme.

The bonus team gold gain that you were looking for could be obtained through that ability you suggested of putting a debuff on a target that makes your teammates get gold for hitting or killing the marked target, similar to Shen's ability that grants health to anyone attacking the marked target. Add either a damage component (you told your teammates the guy has loot, inspring them to hit him harder - again playing the greed aspect), or some CC/utility like a slow to it so that it is more than simply gaining gold. Otherwise this ability becomes significantly less useful in the late game if it is purely a gold gain.

Overall, some nice thinking outside the box on this one. Like I said, it could prove difficult to balance within the economy of the game, but I do believe it is possible.
