Champion Concept: The Mirror's Echo
First time getting the courage to post a concept or such, but been working on this on for a bit, and I thought it would be an interesting idea.
Description: Support specializing in barrier, damage redirection, and trickery. Main stats: AP/Mana Inspiration: I thought a champion built around an ult that could capture an enemy spell within their mirror, and then fire a copied version back at them could be an interesting/unique concept not yet explored, and create a support with a large versatility factor since their ability to reflect abilities would be completely dependant on what spells the enemy could or would throw at them or their allies, and skill on part of the player to time it right, (much like sivir and nocturne have to time their respective spellshields properly). (Also it allows the enemy team counterplay to bait it out much like any shield or problem spell.) Also a squishy mage type support with a mindgame factor, similar to the tricks Shaco support plays on an enemy team while geared more towards shields and reflection than outright damage.
Also lack a current good name for them, so using insert name for the template for now.
Passive: insert name carries a large mirror(much like Orianna has her ball for example) When mirror is with insert name, % of damage taken is instead subtracted from insert name mana instead of hp.
Q: Fires a pulse of light in a line from mirror, causing minor damage and slowing first hit target. (If mirror is shattered, fire a weaker pulse from insert name)
W: Short range blink, leave behind an immobile clone as an afterimage/reflection/illusion that shatters when killed, dealing aoe damage. Also grants vision like Shaco boxes, Zyra seeds, Maokai saplings, ect. (Alternatively an idea was to have a clone that could be controlled by that could not leave a small radius from it's spawn point, allowing the player to try to bait or mindgame with it.)
E: Ally targetted shield that firstly acts as a standard shield, but then passively redirects a % of damage taken by ally to insert name mana pool instead while active, basically transferring insert name own passive temporarily to an ally while also giving them a shield, shielded ally has mirror orbital during the duration, and if the shield survives for it's duration the passive and mirror goes back to insert name, otherwise shield shatters and passive remains lost until E comes off cooldown when mirror re-appears back with insert name.
R: Ally targetted spellshield, similar to sivir or nocturne but able to be put on ally champions, and if it succeeds at blocking a spell and if Mirror is active when block occurs allows insert name ## seconds to fire a mirrored(copy) of the spell absorbed by the shield. (With insert name stats used for scaling, or perhaps fire back with a percentage of the original's stats.)
The idea is not 100% unique in that it does combine aspects from a few other champions, a touch of mind games and trickery similar to Shaco, a shield focus like Braum while remaining unique as a squishier AP support relying on trickery and evasion to stay alive while being focused on keeping their lane partner alive through shields and damage reflection, and being aimed at an AP/mana stat build similar to Ryze, with a slight aid to survivability gained by passively redirecting some damage to mana pool. In some ways filling a median point between Shaco, Lulu, and a few others, a slippery trickster support that uses mindgames and mild harass to keep enemies annoyed and off guard.
As for balance or the idea that the ult might be overpowered. The ult could be considered a bit like Bard, it could get your team messed up if you mimicked the wrong spell at the wrong time, or even wasted it on a weaker spell, giving the enemy room to counterplay by baiting it out. A few examples might be copying a Zed ult into the middle of a fight could get you killed, and due to your lack of ad would not hurt like the true Zed ult, while blocking and then using Malphite’s own ult against his team might turn the tide in insert name favor. Or just by block/copying Annie’s Q and just being useless without the followup burst and lacking the stun the real Annie would provide, or blocking a gold card and letting Twisted Fate have a taste of his own stun.
It’s utility would be completely reliant on what spells an enemy had, and the timing of insert name to use the ult with proper timing due to the short window spellshields offer to block spells, as well as being reliant on insert name own stats to scale the spell, meaning a captured and reflected Draven ult might not hit as hard as the real one, while a captured Brand ult might still pack quite a punch. Or conversely blocking a Tahm Kench devour might let them a quick window to grab and run with an ally in tow, or to spit a minion at the enemy team, but would not grant the passive needed to actively devour an enemy champion, making some abilities an incomplete mimick. (Some care would need to be taken in terms of spells such as Xerath or Jhin ults, would it allow insert name to copy a single shot of the ult, or the full ult?)
Not sure if this is an idea many other people might enjoy, but if nothing else I think the idea of a support, or even a mage, built around the idea of reflection could be an interesting possibility. A shield based AP support for those who both love to defend their carry combined with mild harass and a lot of mindgame opportunities.
I would imagine the character might be a bit like Shaco and Braum, thrives off creating chaos and trickery, yet also off shielding themselves or allies. Or perhaps they themselves are merely a reflection of the mirror and lack visible emotional response, who knows. But anyway thanks for reading, and hope you found it interesting. (Also yes I am a support main if anyone is wondering, I hear that is apparently an endangered species. XD)
