_ Every 5th autoattack from Zyx grants him 25 Energy and causes him to become Evanescent for 1 second. While Evanescent, Zyx takes no damage and projectiles pass through him. Abilities that pass through Zyx and strike an ally while he is Evanescent deal no damage, lose any crowd control affects, and heal the ally for 5/7.5/10% of Zyx's maximum health. _

COOLDOWN: 14/12/10/8/6 Sec COST: 40 Energy

Zyx empowers his next 3 autoattacks used in the following 6 seconds. The first 2 attacks have maximum attack speed. The 3rd attack has normal speed but gains 475 range and strikes in a line, dealing (150% Total AD) physical damage to the target and all targets along the way. Enemies struck by the third blow are also slowed by 25/30/35/40/45% for 2 seconds.

COOLDOWN: 18/16/14/12/10 Sec COST: 100/90/80/70/60 Energy

Zyx roots himself in place and produces an untargetable Spectre that can move freely for 4 seconds. Zyx remains in place as he moves the Spectre and is able to take damage normally. The Spectre has 10/15/20/25/30% increased movement speed and can pass through terrain, but doing so reduces the ability's duration by 1 second. At the end of the ability’s duration, Zyx travels to the Spectre’s location and erupts, dealing 60/95/130/165/200 (+100% Bonus AD) magic damage to enemies within 350 units.

Passive: Passing through an enemy champion or possessing a large monster refunds half of the energy cost and halves the cooldown of this ability. Zyx has greatly reduced vision while Re-embodied.

Active:

Re-embodiment- Zyx dashes to hide himself inside the target minion or monster for up to 6/9/12/15/18 seconds or until the target is slain, becoming untargetable in the process. While embodied, Zyx is unable to move or take any action as the target continues to act normally.

Disembodiment- Zyx can reactivate this ability while Re-embodied to violently leave his target’s body, returning to his normal form and dealing 80/130/180/230/280 (+0.7 AP) magic damage to the target and all targets within 350 units.

COOLDOWN: 100/85/70 Sec COST: None RANGE: 625

Zyx channels for 1 second in an attempt to transfer himself into an enemy champion for 5 seconds. If successful, Zyx becomes untargetable and deals the target 4/5/6% (+1% per 100 AP) Max Health as magic damage per second. Zyx wrests control of the enemy champion's movement for the final 2 seconds of Takeover, granting him the ability to move the champion at will in the direction he chooses.


Lore:

Zyx, one of the Black Rose’s finest magicians, but a faded memory now. I looked up to him. That was… until he became soft, tarnished by his studies of the stars and spiritual magics.

He spent a great deal of time in his studies, perfecting the art of astral projection that died with him, something I envied. To impact and move about the world around you without even using your physical body… it opened up an entirely different set of opportunities. It was in my attempt to recover and harness this lost art that I discovered my own magical prowess to teleport and project doppelgängers, but I still fell short of my deepest desires.

But I digress, Zyx’s naivety in trusting others and obsession with realms unknown were his downfall. The more he studied projection, the more time he spent as a spiritual being than his physical self. It wasn’t long before his apprentice grew weary of his ever-growing fancy and weakening body as a result. I could see it in his aging skin and slowing movement. The toll of his work was steadily increasing. I wouldn’t be taught any further by someone so blind as to not see his own degradation in plain sight.

A legend, he had fallen from such heights, I couldn’t let the madness continue. I saw his body there, sound asleep, vulnerable. I could tell that it wasn’t a typical slumber by the faint azure glow about his person as he lay there resting. He wasn’t merely asleep; his spirit was projected who knows where, but there was no sign of him here in this place. And so I spared him a slow death and myself a poor master that very night.

I’m writing you now Lord Swain, as rumors speak of a glimmering blue figure making appearances of late. I fear the man may have perished, but the spirit still lingers. This doesn't bode well.

Nice champion! Glad I'm not the only one thinking they should make champs that can, in some way, take over other champs, already made two like that but it seems like a pretty unpopular idea. Of course, my ideas about that kind of ability were a bit more OP than yours so if Riot were planning on making one based off of one of our ideas, even I'd suggest your kind of mind control over mine. :)

passive symbiosis: dunno why this is added to the passive and not the spell, might be to hard of a nerf.

  • perhaps making it 12 seconds on minions and 5 on jungle monsters
  • making it so true vision (item 2043 item 3364 , raptors) tells the enemy you are inside a minion/monster
  • not able to target champions
  • if the minion or monster is killed with him inside, he takes 15% max hp in damage is slowed by 25% and attack speed lowered by 15% for 3 seconds (this would increase skill cap on his E)

R some things that would simplify and add counterplay to his ult

  • when he successfully channels it, he takes control of his target, he is able to move the enemy and use auto attacks (each autoattack deals 50/60/70 + (30% (Zyx's) AP)) but not use abilities
  • remove Zyx's invulnerability during the effect, instead, he and his target take 50% less damage.

Very interesting and novel idea you've got here, Flux. I'm getting an AP Zed vibe from Zyx, which isn't a bad thing. Some key concerns I noticed while reading-

1- I really like the passive but I don't like its reliance on auto attacks to proc. I feel like it has the opportunity to really let Zyx players make some flashy plays (like Zed) to survive things they shouldn't survive. They're always going to be auto attacking so the passive becomes a "nice thing that happens every few seconds" instead of a cool tool the player has. I guess what I'm saying is that it lacks agency. I wish this passive was actually an active ability.

2- I'm not sure how an auto attack can transform into a skillshot. I'm imagining the first two autos and then the third striking and... where does the skillshot emanate from? Auto attacks don't have very precise aiming requirements, so it feels like the angle of the skillshot will be kind of random, and therefore unreliable and unrewarding. What if, while active, Zyx gains increased attack speed. If able to auto attack three times in the 6 second activation, the ability can be recast as a skillshot?

3- The E is very interesting but I also worry about it. It requires minions or monsters which means that it likely won't have much use in a lot of different circumstances. I like the idea of "hiding" in a neutral unit and then exploding out, however. I don't understand why dashing and hiding deals damage, though. Seems like it should be a short range dash to merge with the unit, then gain vision and otherwise be able to hide there for a while. Maybe even increase the duration to a max of 30 seconds or so, to really let them camp and stalk their prey if they want. The energy refund on both hits is a nice idea, but again I think it would be exceptionally rare in practice. All energy using champions have a way of regenerating energy faster, so I like that you tried it here, but I think it should be moved somewhere else.

4- I have to be blunt and honest here and say that the Ultimate just doesn't work for me. It removes a huge amount of control from another player in the game and I can easily see this being one of the most anti-fun abilities in the whole game. It fits thematically and I like the idea from that angle, but in practice I really feel like this ability would be frustrating and broken.

Ultimately I'm fine with the passive... it's more that I just have a sense of missed opportunity; that's all.

For the Q, I actually understood it the first time, but the Lucian analogy does help. I'm just worried about where the "Point A to Point B" interaction will actually occur relative to where Zyx is and where the target is. I guess it'd work out... just seems a little clunky to me.

W makes sense in the jungle as a damaging spell, but it makes zero sense for a jungler to "hide" at the wolf camp for 16 seconds and hope that a bad guy stumbles upon them. Again, it could work but I have my reservations.

Regarding the ult, I appreciate your clarification but I'm afraid I retain my original opinion. Players can dodge Cho'gath's silence or position around it. This is a targeted ability that gives the target player zero ways of "shaking off" their opponent. They just have to sit there at the mercy of them. It also requires a huge burden of knowledge because the Zyx player needs to know all the abilities of their target in order to make an informed decision about which ability to silence. To this day, I couldn't tell you whether Alistar's Headbutt or Pulverize is on his Q versus his E.

I dunno, Flux, it just feels messy and anti-fun to me. Sorry. :-/

E should come with some way for the opponent to tell if you are inside a monster, or that could lead to some serious paranoia and extremely strong counter jungling or at the very least, removing this champion's vision when he is inside a monster so he needs to rely on wards, but still incredibly strong. and/or limit the transfer time to something like 5 or 6 seconds.

R- might as well make it a general silence, too confusing and requires the user to have present all the abilities and positions of every champion. would work better if it silenced the target, made this champ untargetable and made you able to move the enemy champion (having auto attacks available) for 2.5/3/3.5 seconds

Okay guys,

I took what you said to heart and made some balancing changes. Let me know what you think?

  1. Added a balancing mechanic to the passive for whenever Zyx takes over a target. I think this is a challenging mechanic but one that forces Zyx to be mindful of his decisions
  2. Nerfed Q (no longer reduces cooldown per enemy hit)
  3. Added clarity to W explaining that Zyx himself is still targetable and can die even though his Spectre is not
  4. Buff/Nerf to E: Zyx no longer can’t regenerate energy while in a target, but he does experience a significant drop in vision while inside the target
  5. R’s Mental Takeover just silences to make its use less difficult for Zyx and less confusing for enemy players

Update:

  • Buff to symbiosis, adding a shield on successful kill on the target
  • Nerf to ultimate, making the player choose either Mental or Physical Takeover (this makes it more manageable to enemy's that know once they've been inflicted with one type they are free to play normally)
  • Nerfed time allotted in minions/monsters

love this guy. especially the E. I notice a problem with the ult tho: if you choose Physical Takover allows you to effectively silence the enemy anyways, because you can spam move commands to interrupt them.

i am gonna say when it comes to certain champions with this character, such as Zed Kassadin Ekko andShaco , when they displace themselves and become untargetable, such as all of their ults do, would Zyx be Kicked out of their body due to there Being nothing there?

also another question about the champion, i personally think his W is too "All in", like Katarina, when she shumpos in, she has no real escape, sure he can waste his ulti to go into an enemy champion, but if he doesnt choose physical, then the enemy will just carry him deeper into a teamfight, seeing as how his W simply seems like "oh no i ended up moving to the wrong place at the wrong time, at the end of my casting time", it seems like its something that will get him caught out too often, so i think that his W should be used as a Vision tool mostly, however he can reactivate to travel to the Wisps location, instead of it just being a Straight "You will go there" spell, besides it would finally provide a new 'safe' form of vision like Ashe and Quin with their Respective W's.

Finally, when it comes to his passive, i understand the shielding, but to restore ALL of your health after being inside? you only take 20% reduced damage so if you go into someone, and almost die, but because they died you go from 5% to 100% again, thats even worse then Ekko's Ulti, personally, i think that a good nerf for it would be you retain 75% of your lost health, however Anytime you leave a host you gain a % amount of Missing Health shield, instead of Just on kills, so that if you don't kill the target, but you got butt loads of damage, you can still get a chance to Fly your W around a corner quickly and get out with a lets say 50% shield from that fight. (edit, i just reread it, and misunderstood the 20%, though i do say that might not be enough, it is a rather powerful form of reduction to damage, like if you were to jump inside of a squishy as hell opponent, and they come 'close' to death, yet you come out almost unscathed from the interaction, i think its a tad "strong" in that department. I do know you didnt think this champ would do good with damage recution, but i think instead of 20% of that targets health, a good 40% of damage taken (down to a low of 20% of Zyx's health as so you dont die using the spell, because it also has the downside of you taking over a Garen, and the garen Running into the enemy team to get you killed simply by transfering damage to you) and THEN you do the Above changes as stated for the passive earlier, so it still stays a consistent "last hit" option, or a way to guarantee some extra cc with some safe escape in lane/team fights.)

Anyways aside from that, i love the concept of the character, the lore is great, finnaly a new member from the Rose, and i cant find anything else Quote on Quote 'wrong' with him, wrong being just a couple nerfs to bump ratios here and there.

Also seeing as how you are a character creator yourself, i have made a Void creature, intended to be tanky Top lane/Tanky Support, he is in the Bildgewater Cafe under Ish'rai, The Embodiment of Fear (however i renamed him in the description) if you could take a quick gander at him that would be amazing! great champ idea and i hope it sees the light of day man!

I really enjoy the direction of this champion. Very creative and i feel it would add a VERY unique kit to the rift. I'd love to see how something like this would function in game but overall, i love it.
