My Character Ideas! :-) (with a bit of color)

Hey guys! I'm back :-) So i totally forgot i had these until i was flipping through my stuff! I did a set of these last semester for a class for my final so apologize if they look semi rushed XD And you guys may notice i that i used a couple of references from league just because i enjoyed the poses so much that certain champs held and thought they would do my character justice so i inserted them! So i hope you all appreciate the setting! Please let me know what you guys think! Don't be shy all types of questions and feedback is welcomed :-)

They look pretty good :) but i cannot realy see their faces.

Hehe thanks :-D Yeah, all there faces tend to be covered down past the nose. In my newer work that i will be doing i will also put up a concept for each of them without there suits :)

well I have one idea :)

I recently decided to let one of my Concepts : Mila, the stray light have a Remake with looks included so if you would like to then would you like to Draw the new appearance of her? you can find the descriptions in the link under: new appearance, her old appearance also has a Picture that you can Use for reference towards her face and figure and stuff.

so would you like to draw that?

Hey! I'm so glad you message me back, and would like me to draw her new appearance :-) Im honestly so honored hehe XD i just did a quick run through over everything on the link and of course will do more of a deeper run down when i start. She seems pretty legit! I'm currently re-learning Photoshop which shouldn't take much longer. That said...

I will definitely be up for the challenge on creating and giving her a new look :-)

ah thank you i cannot wait:) but one thing: pls don't give her the same pose as other Champions but more of a pose suited for her thank you :)

Of course man, np haha :-) I only did that with mine, because i literally pulled out 6 of them in a week for my final and didn't have time to think, 20 hr of sleep that week XD

Hey real quick. During your explanation for her new appearance you first say she wears a dress, but then the sentence after you say she wears a skirt and a shirt... I just want to make sure i put the right clothes on here XD

Hey sorry i have been mia. Ive been just super busy with school and stuff, but its going great! im constantly sketching her and doing little changes here and there. I think you will like the way she turns out! and as for her pose its gonna be kick ass :)

All in all she seems interesting! Some things could be fixed up a bit but that nit picking. i also dont know why i always think of lux, tf, and syndra :-/ That's why when i do that concept work it will pull away from those characters :-)

yh i am trying to do that to, right now her skills are still on the rework table to make her more reliable as support because a skillshot heal is not really the best thing. also I mostly Imagine light as bright yellow wich are the colours of the light Mila uses and when she uses, strange light runic symbols appear.

Also one of my ideas is to make her Q a targeted heal that when her Target fires of an auto attack, will en-light the attack and deal damage to all enemies it passes through. is that not a good idea?

Dont worry i know how you feel on reworks. im doing the same with my characters.

Yeah thats a cool idea, but wouldnt it make sense that the ally champion will be glowing to show that? and what will happen when character are melee?

Well making them glow is a good idea. When the target is melee then its next attack emits a wave like Hydra's wave effect. Also the effect will go a bit beyond the target of the auto attack. Sounds good right?

Ow and the skirt reaches her knees, but it does not go under her knees but the boots she wears reach above the half of her legs.

I like this version of character three better, it gives a better sense of him as a character (which you get when you add a detailed background like this). I was just glancing over it at first before I realized that he was standing over a bunch of bodies... Character 4's look in this concept keeps that same kind of attitude as the original concept, but I can't help thinking of Draven when I look at it. I'm excited to see what you do with your other two characters as well.

She does seem a little more generic than the others. There are a LOT of sword wielding champions in the game, and each time Riot adds a new one, any other concepts for a new one have to look that much cooler and distinguishable. It is by no means a bad piece, it is just that there are already SOOO many other champions in game that are similar to her (Riven, Fiora, Diana, etc.). Swords are the most common weapon type amongst most fantasy styled games, which is the reason you see more and more ridiculously over stylized and ornately designed swords in games. The few exceptions are when you have an Iconic weapon that is core to a franchise and doesn't have to change because it is distinct enough to hold its own (see Legend of Zelda's Master sword, relatively simple, but one of the most Iconic weapons in video games. Cloud Strife's Buster sword is similar in notoriety). She isn't boring per-se, she is just a character type that requires MANY more distinguishable features than any other type of character, except maybe an archer.

Yeah, okay, i see what your saying. I attached a picture of the characters weapons drawn separate. I don't know if that would change anything, but the drawing that's attached is what i really want it to be seen as. Give it a look a and let me know what you think. If you still think its cliche i will definitely have to switch her weapon, because a few people i know have said that too when seen detached from one another. Thanks so much for the insight! Im already thinking of all the type of weapons she could possibly be switched to haha XD

See, that is something that is not really visible in this piece— it is a staff blade, and that in itself can be enough to differentiate her from the others. The picture obscures the second part of the weapon, which is correct from a perspective viewpoint, but for the purpose of displaying her and her weapon, it is not clear that her weapon is such a distinct item. If you found another action pose for a splash like this which better showcased her unique blade, then I think it would be a lot less homogeneous/cliche.

P.S. I looked back at the other piece you did for her and it is visible there, and that one is more easily distinguishable to me because it shows her weapon completely.

Let me just start off by saying you have a great artstyle and you're fairly talented. That isn't an opinion, it's a fact.

But what comes into question is what you've drawn. I didn't really see unique champions, but what looked more like skins for champions. The first one looks like Nightraven Fiora and the last like Draven.

While the second character is unique I can't really tell anything about this character. Is this person good or evil, what kind of magic does this person use or is it just a weapon, and what makes this character stands out.

You have the talent but I feel like you lack the inspiration.

Yeah, i feel ya. i mentioned to another that i kind used Fiora and Dravens splash to make it easier for me during that week of my finals. When i finished i did feel like i let myself down and the characters themselves :-/ i hope in my newer work i will have the character shine as themselves!

Thank you, i personally like this character myself. When i do my newer concept work it will reveal a little more about his skills XD Im super excited to do my new work :-)

Yeah, i kind of hit a low from last yr going into this yr with my art. The school im attending doesn't really except character art as an art form and only see art as if it would be in an art show. During this time i received lower grades due to it not me "museum art show" work, and had tension with my professors, which over time really hurt my moral mentally and emotionally doubting if the work im making was good enough. Long story short I have been in my "healing" process if you will, but after the feedback and encouragement i have received on here i am ready to start my work again , and come back fighting!

I recognize two of the poses here: Character 2 from Nightraven Fiora, and Character 4 is obviously Draven. I'm not trying to down play you at all, they're still kind of interesting, but very obvious traces possibly, or maybe just reference images for the poses. No.3 isn't clear on what his pose is from, but not really all that important. Overall they're interesting, if somewhat creepy looking characters.

First of all thanks for you feedback :-) And wow, i didn't think anyone would still see my stuff XD But to answer you question type comment, i did in fact use those two as a reference picture, because i felt like it capture the sense of my characters personality a little. Not to mention i was in a rush finals week when i made them and i couldn't think of any poses on my own haha XD I haven't posted a whole lost recently, just been super busy with school, but i hope the new idea that are to come people will enjoy!
