Soraka Rework idea
Rework Idea:
Passive: Soraka has a Healbar (scaling with lvl, ap) which fills up slowly when she is near an ally or hits an enemy with her other abilitys. If the bar is full, her other skills are enhanced and consume the Healpoints.
Q - Starcall: Soraka blesses an allied Champion for 3 Seconds. Everytime the Champion gets hit, he will generate stacks for 10 Seconds (up to 3 stacks). Normal hits and Singletarget spells uses up 1 stack, calling down a star on the target position and dealing damage (the star is dodgeable). Enhanced Starcall: The Stars fall down faster, slows enemys hit and grants a shield for the amount of the healpoints consumed.
W - Astral Fusion/Explosion: Selfcast: Soraka sacrifices x% of her hp to deal y damage on nearby enemy Champions. Z% of sacrificed hp and damage dealt will be converted to Healpoints if someone got hit. Selfcast only every x seconds. Cast on Ally: Soraka heals a Champion up to "insert low numbers" (+ Healpoints). Every time she Heals, 40% of her Healpoints are consumed. She can cast Astral Fusion only if her Healpoints are filled up atleast 40%. Enhanced Astral Fusion (only on Allycast): Sorakas Heal is less effective, but Heals up every other allied Champion near the Target (including herself).
E - Equinox: No Idea Enhanced Equinox: no idea yet.
R - Wish: Soraka calls upon the stars, filling up her Healbar. She is also surrounded by 3 rotating Stars, that remove debuffs on allied Champion hit. The Stars will vanish if they hit a Champion (even if no debuff is removed) that was not hit by a star before. That means a champion can only be hit once and the stars will not disappear, if they hit 2 times the same champion. Enhanced: Healbar won't be filled up again, but the Stars activate the reduced Enhanced Astral Fusion effect on every hit.
Context on the Changes:
My idea is to restrict Soraka with a second source. She shouldn't feel like a spam Champion/Healbot and she shouldn't be annoying to play against either. With annoying I mean just casting Q every time it is up, until you hit someone. Or Healing every single damage you dealt in a blink.
The Healbar allows some interesting changes on her abilitys, because it forces Soraka to make choices. Choices that should be made based on the situation she is in right now. Her enhanced skills may look a bit strong on the first glance, but keep in mind that they consume the healpoints, which means she can't use the best of every skill.
Because the Healpoints are consumed everytime, the enhanced skill should have an protection effect (Heal, shield, etc). Why is that? Because you can't use, or atleast not at full strength, your main heal when you use an enhanced skill. It requires 40% of the Healbar.
Let's look at her Q: Her old Q is just beeing there to be spammed, it heals her up and it damages the enemy. No interaction at all. My suggestion on the other hand strengthens her adc and requires her enemys to fight in order to make full use of it. It is a spell for trading with ur opponents. And rather than doing something herself, she fullfills the support role. She can't make use of the skill alone.
The enhanced effect of it grants a shield (even if u don't have stacks). I chose a shield, because it allows you to start fights/trades in your favor. Lanes with soraka are too passive in my eyes. Soraka pokes while her adc just farms. She just waits for her enemys to engage and outsustain them. Enemy can decide to either fight you, knowing that he is at disadvantage, due to the shield and Starcall stacks, when he hits you or he will retreat. This also brings Soraka into the focus... She is the easier target, no shield, no reliable cc, which means your adc has to look over you and not only the other way around. He needs to peel for you and you have to peel for him. The slow and the zoning from the stars helps him to do that.
Riot wanted Soraka to be more in the fight, rather than just staying behind everyone and healing. That's why they nerfed her range. I thought about her w and how to make it feel this way. I took her solo power away, since I changed her Q to be more like a buff instead of a damage source, so she needed some power back. Then I came with the idea for the W. It has 2 Parts. First part combines what Riot wants (taking risks, not just staying behind everyone) and a way to fill her Healbar up faster. Soraka sacrifices herself to help her allies, to be able to heal again. That's why she gains half of her cooldown of the heal back.
The Healpart: Well, the heal should feel stronger now, because it has 2 ways of scaling. The base heal and the Healpoints. Since you are already restricted by the Healpoints (more than 40% and you use up 40% on every cast), there should be no cooldown (or only a low cooldown). Enhanced Heal: I took away her Ultimate AoE Heal, so I gave it back in the enhanced Heal. It's not global, which was important for me, because that was also something that makes the current soraka toxic. She can't heal everyone tho, if they are not grouped together. Which means she has to go closer to the frontline, if they need heals, which again results in higher risks she has to take.
E- Equinox: I don't know what to do with that skill. AoE Silence on instant cast isn't healthy for the game and I have no idea, what would be a good match for the rest of her kit. She needs some sort of cc, the silence could remain, but not in that form. I thought about something like this: Soraka creates an area which drains hp over time and roots the target if he gets hit by an normal hit while he stands in the area. After 2 Seconds it detonates creating a stardust, which heals both enemy and allies over time for the amount that was drained.
But that seems like too much heal in the kit for me and so I didn't wrote it above.
R - Wish: Well, this spell gives you a bit more peel but you need to be close to your ally. It won't remove dmg debuffs like ignite or Zed mark, but everything else like slows, stuns and silences. It doesn't help if a champion gets cc'ed multiple times. I wanted an ult like this, because her ult doesn't heal anymore (only if it's enhanced and that means she can't use her w) and she should have another way to deal with heavy engage comps.
She would be easier to balance since you have so many ways of changing her power. Be it through the Healbar numbers, the base numbers and scaling or the consumption.
