League MMO

Does it ever bother you that Runeterra has about 10 different regions and empires, and yet you are closed into a small fragment of it? I wanna explore Piltovers streets, or the palaces in Demacia. I wanna see whats behind the walls of Noxus, or whats inside the forests where little creatures said to be living in. I wanna reclaim ride Gankplank's pirate ship, or defend against Noxian invasions alongside the Ionian warriors. There is so much to this world that we never come to see. Instead we are closed in the boundaries (that are often broken) of the Summoners Rift, or the narrow bridge of either Bilgewater or Freljord, getting only a glimpse of those worlds. Sometimes we have the chance to experience more of this world through few minutes long music videos, but that is a poor amount (but rich in quality).

A problem, i think there is, is that the game mechanics and balance cant keep up with the rapidly growing world of Runeterra, which is I think the best ting about this game (the lore). This is a problem, because this game is pro-league focused, and completely based on the competative play and events. This is shown in the obvious (but denied) favoritism towards famous content creators and pro players of this game.

The game is getting to a point where new champs' mehcanics are not unique anymore, because they are just reused and enhanced versions of old ones, literally replacing them. There are 144 champions, with usually 5-10 of them being meta in every patch + the new ones getting abused. When there were just a few champs, you face the problem of seeing the same, but its at a point where we see the same champions because there are too much of them. Too much of them that are old and unpleasing mechanicswise, that is.

Also, an MMO or PvE type game would eliminate the biggest problem and stress source about this game: the dependence on other players emotions. There are so much players that would rather enjoy the art and feeling of this world of Runeterra, than grind Solo queue, not even enjoying it at the end of the day, but coming back every day to achive a digital ranking that they can use to boost their social-media status and confidence.

In my opinion, an MMO like this would not only become more popular that the current game, but would overtake top MMOs like WoW. There is so much potential to the world that Riot Games is creating, and an open world game would take much better advantage of such potential.

TFT was kind of a dissapointment for me. I was hoping for a game, separate from LoL with much more independence and opportunity. I still enjoyed it at the beginning, but it becomes monotone after you played all the combinatios there are. I still like it because its much more peaceful and calmer, yet now its something that I just play in the background while doing something else, considering that it can literally play itself.

I also heard about this project that Riot is working on called the Word of Runeterra, and if its gonna be an MMO, I can finally die peacefully.

You're not. Summoner's Rift does not exist on Runeterra, it's purely a game. Just like Final Destination and Battlefield do not exist in the Mario universe or any other Nintendo world.
