Make Captain Gangplank an "Ultimate" Skin

  • If you’re on a team with Captain Gangplank, you can tune in to the Bilgewater Event music by bringing up the in-game scoreboard. On the left side of the screen, next to his portrait, you’ll see a button. Click it and Gangplank takes over your in-game music, pumping his piratey goodness through your speakers. Though you can’t pick when his mateys chant the chorus, you can pull the plug on his show at any time by clicking the button again.
  • All players on the same team as Captain Gangplank will hear all announcements in his voice (and the other team will have the regular announcer). This cannot be toggled on/off or removed.
  • All players who owned Captain Gangplank at the time of this update will have the Skin removed from their accounts, but will be refunded 975 RP (even if they got it for free during the event).

I'd say that these changes are not sufficient enough to make Captain Gangplank an Ultimate Skin, but it should put it above Legendary Skin tier. Also, I earned the skin from the Bilgewater Event, but I know I'd sure as hell pay as much as 3250 RP for these changes.

Here's what I've seen defined Ultimate skins;

  1. Unique Animations. Separate from stock skins, and on par with Legendary Skins, Ultimate Skins have unique animations that set them apart from the basic champion.
  2. Unique Particle Effects. Also alongside Legendary Skins, Ultimate Skins have unique Particle Effects.
  3. Some tertiary unique quality. For example, Ezreal's form changing, Udyr's Spirit Bond forms, and Sona's three forms and three musics.
  4. Icon + Banner. A unique summoner Icon (or icons), as well as a banner for owning the skin.
  5. Unique Voiceover. Voice quotes that are different from stock and fit with the Ultimate Skin's theme.

Here's what Captain Gangplank doesn't have;

  1. Unique Animations. If I'm not mistaken, he retains his animations that are used on every other skin, with the exception of Toy Soldier.
  2. Unique particle effects. Aside from his barrel being cleaner, he has the same gun flash, flames, bullet, and cannon barrage as his stock skin.
  3. Tertiary quality. Adding Bilgewater background music and making Gangplank the announcer wouldn't cut it, especially since it would be needless work to put in to a non-unique skin to have Gangplank do the Announcer voiceovers. Having Bilgewater music play is a little unoriginal, since Sona already has that quality with Concussive/Kinetic/Ethereal.
  4. Icon + Banner. While you could say he does have an icon with the Day III Bilgewater Icon - that was from the Burning Tides event, and is exclusive to people who chose Gangplank during that stage of the event, and so it doesn't count. And, it wouldn't be worth it to make a banner for Captain Gangplank, as he's not a unique skin that would be worth a banner.

The only thing Gangplank's Captain Skin has is a unique voiceover. And also, saying "people who owned this skin before it becomes an ultimate should get the skin taken away and refunded 975, even if they got the skin for free during the Burning Tides event" is pretty much just a dumb, overcomplicated way of saying "plz rito gib me free munny".

On another note; "I'd say that these changes are not sufficient enough to make Captain Gangplank an Ultimate Skin, but it should put it above Legendary Skin tier." You just contradicted yourself. Ultimate is the only skin tier above Legendary, so you sound ridiculous.
