[Champion suggestion] Morgius, the Spirit of the Betrayed
Thanks for checking out my creation: Morgius, the Spirit of the Betrayed. Morgius is a wisp who is supposed to be a ranged, tanky AP dude with some CC and AoE magic damage.
Keywords: Ranged, Fighter, Jungler, Mage
Role: Morgius can be played as a jungler or a solo laner. He deals AoE magic damage and can follow-up on an engage, diving in the enemy backline or peel for his own carries. He shouldn't be able to blow up carries, unless he is very fed; his primary purpose is to use his crowd control abilities to lock down the enemy backline or frontline.
Skills:
**Arcane Defense (Passive): ** Whenever Morgius deals damage to an enemy champion or a neutral monster with a spell, he gains a shield that absorbs damage. If he gains a new shield before the end of the duration, the amount is added to his current shield and the duration is reset.
**Wandering Spirits (Q): ** Morgius has three spirits floating around him. Upon activation, the radius in which they circle around him increases to the cursor and the spirits deal damage to the first enemy hit. When a spirit hits an enemy, they disappear. Overcharged: The spirits deal extra damage and while at least one spirit is circling him, Morgius can change the radius by reactivating the ability.
Clarifications:
- The spirits return when the cooldown reaches 0 seconds.
**Striding Light (W): ** Upon first activation, Morgius builds up energy, while losing mana every second and being slowed. Upon reactivation, Morgius releases the energy, gaining movement speed based on how much mana was invested. While Striding Light is active, Morgius can pass through enemies. Enemies take damage if he does. Overcharged: Enemies he passes through are bonded to him. At the end of the duration, all enemies still bonded are snared.
Clarifications:
- The bond is a visual effect, similar to Karma's W.
- Morgius needs to be overcharged when hitting the enemy and at the end of the ability to trigger the snare.
- Both the duration and the intensity of the movement speed boost scale with the spent mana (both have a cap).
**Occlusion (E): ** Morgius draws light around him towards him for a few seconds, dealing damage over time to enemies in the area. Enemies in the area walking away from Morgius are slowed. Overcharged: The circle is bigger and the last pulse pulls all enemies towards Morgius.
Clarifications:
- Damage is dealt every half second.
**Overcharge (R): ** Overcharge is automatically learned at level 1. Upon activation, Morgius increases in size and gains armor and magic resist and while Overcharge is active, his basic abilities have an additional effect. Overcharge deals true damage to Morgius each second it is active. Upon deactivation, Morgius deals magic damage around him based on the true damage dealt to him by Overcharge (with a cap).
Clarifications:
- Damage is dealt every half second.
- Morgius cannot kill himself with this ability.
Background: Somewhere in the Shuriman desert, hidden in one of the many tombs, once lay a powerful artifact, the Rod of Light. However, the rod could only be carried and controlled by those who wore a Pendant of Light. Those who took the artifact without a pendant would be burned to death by the sun before they were able to leave Shuriman lands. Most of the pendants were lost, but one Noxian man was able to retrieve one. He had been obsessed with the artifact for years and had sworn that he would lay his hands upon it. Together with his friend Morgius he had collected many treasures and this artifact was their next target, but he had only one pendant. Blinded by the promise of power, he lied to his friend and created a fake duplicate, which he gave to Morgius. After an incredibly long journey, the two friends found the artifact, in a small courtyard of what was once a mighty Shuriman palace. Morgius took the artifact and immediately fell to the ground due to the sun's heat. He realized he had been set up. He turned is head, looking into his partner's eyes and saw no regret, no pity. Just the smile of a madman, obsessed with the artifact that was killing him. As he lay there, unable to move, a small light escaped from the rod and as he drew his last breath, the light entered his body, followed by a flash of light. A moment later, Morgius was gone but so was the rod. Just a floating ball of light remained, containing Morgius' spirit and the powers of the rod. Without hesitation the newborn creature rushed towards his old friend and killed him with his newly gained powers.
_Final notes: _ Before you start sending me angry messager with DotA-links, Morgius is (maybe too) heavily inspired on the DotA character Io, the Guardian Wisp. You will also notice that there are no numbers or base stats yet. I will add these later, I'm first looking for some feedback on his skillset and role. If you like the concept, feel free to give me tips on the story, because I suck at creating good stories and check out my other creations: Madred, the Ruined King Marinda, the Blade of Noxus
