Story, Appearance and Notes

_ Story:_

(Thanks to Zowieberner for writing the story!!)

The Shadow Isles wasn't always a land covered in a foul fog and crowded with undead; many ages ago it was a true paradise. But even that paradise couldn't escape the devastating effects of magic. After a powerful warlock had cursed these Isles, killing everything, bringing them back in a twisted form of life (or dead) and enslaving them to his will, the Shadow Isles became pretty much what they are now. Having lost one of their outpost, the ruling Watchers in the Freljord sent out a fleet under the command of a noble with the name Madred to kill the warlock.

But the warlock was underestimated. The fleet was destroyed as soon as it arrived and the warlock could turn its crew into more servants, but Madred survived. He managed to infiltrate the warlocks estate and him. Having gained control of the warlocks power and servants, Madred decided to break of all ties from the Freljord and start his own kingdom of dread and fear in on the Shadow Isles and became known as the Lich King. His power grew as more liches joined him in death for the centuries to come. Madred outlived even the Watchers rule in the Freljord, who were driven away by their own subjects.

However, Madred suffered the same fate as his former masters, many centuries later. As all liches were subject to Madreds will through a magical bound, and the liches were growing exponentially with the rune wars going about, the bound with each lich became weaker and their own twisted will became to emerge once again. And so it was the Madred, also known as the lich king, lost control. He soon was banished into exile, by the servants that had been serving him for thoughts of years. Now only but a mere echo of his former glory and power, Madred joined the Institute of War in the hope to find a way to once again, enslave all liches. "Oblivion follows in my wake" - Madred

_Appearance:_
Madred is half-human, half-ghost. He walks on legs like we all do, but is transparent and strikes his enemies with his vicious claws. As a former king, he wears a rusty-looking, old crown. When he uses his ultimate, he becomes full ghost, floating around the battlefield.

_Designer's Notes:_
Madred is designed to be either a top laner or jungler. As a top laner he should excel in small skirmishes, initiating with Soul Bond, immediately followed by Ghostly Stride and his Spectral Slice. Sould Bond (W) allows him to stick to his target and allows him to disengage if he doesn't stick for too long.
As a jungler he is fairly slow, having no real AoE ability. He excels in ganking though. The dash allows him to sneak into bushes and once he is close, it's hard to create distance, especially if his ult is available.
In teamfights he can initiate with E+R, diving into the enemy backline, after which he can start haunting one of the carries or try to disrupt the enemy front line.

I was looking to create an auto-attack based champion that would greatly benefit from Ability Power and that was able to dive into the backline. This asks for a balanced build, containing both offensive and defensive items. I think Madred would benefit most from attack speed, ability power and armor/magic resistance. This means that items like Wit's End and Nashor's Tooth would be great for him.

first off he's broken to all hell, i mean that w man...if you want to ignore unit collision get a phantom dance, just have q an empowered strike and get a wit's end, and then the true damage on top of that ulti...

tweak him down a bit...get him wit's end, nashor's tooth, luden's echo, rabadon's cap, and other such items...ad like blade of the ruined king if you never want to do damage aside from autos...and even then you won't deal much damage...i mena the damage on his passive is good though...deal nice amout early and wouldn't seem too bad late

Passive: Overall not a bad passive, though these are significantly weaker than Ekko and Diana passive, I can see why you chose the values for the true damage later

W: Stealing movespeed is always tricky to balance, but if you're stacks max you steal 50% from the target essentially means you move double their speed which is a little on the broken side, I understand it takes numerous hits, but by your ability alone is 4 hits not to mention you're going to progressively hit more with each auto almost always maxing the stacks before the duration which is a ton of unavoidable damage if you dont have a dash

R: The only issue I have with this, is that it's an instant fear, no other spell (aside from fiddles only targeting one) has a fear you cannot counter play. Noc's can be dashed from, Hec's can be dodged, Shaco's can be avoided by merely not hitting boxes... etc. Not to mention turning his passive into true damage is a bit much, scaling true damage is always something to avoid, its why Darius was so broken when he released and why no one likes fighting Yi (It's ok for Olaf because he doesnt really have much else going for damage in his favor other than his Q)
