Rotating Game Mode idea: A Rift in Time

So it seems just about everyone on the forums is unhappy, and I've lost count of the times I've read the phrases "Back to where it was", "Like it used to be", "Earlier seasons", and similar notions. SO, since Riot has been working for years to try to emulate some of the models of other games to keep current and edgy, I suggest that they bring about a 'new' game mode where we get to play League as if we went back in time. This could emulate the success of the Timewalking dungeons like WoW has. They were one of the most popular spinoff events that they had. I personally LOVED it, I got to feel like I'd went back a few years and got to play the game in the state it was in when I felt it was at its peak. Let's go back by season. Keep it a short event, maybe even 2 days, every other weekend. For example, next Friday and Saturday, there would be a Throwback game mode where we got to play League on SR as if we were back in Season 2. All the items, champs, and summoner spells are back to the way they were in 2011. (I understand that trying to do in-game old-style mastery and rune pages are not feasible, so let's not even bother with them. Just do champs, items, and spells. And maybe voice acting- GOD I MISS THE OLD NASUS VOICE ACTOR) Go back in time and get to play League like it used to be. I feel like this could be a HUGE advantage to just about everyone; Riot, old players, and new players. I feel like it would be a hugely enjoyable event for old players like myself. I truly and sincerely miss the old playstyles and feel of the game from previous seasons. It's actually upsetting, and I know that I'm not alone. I truly LOVE this game. I've spent so much time, and yes money, on this game and I've been so loyal to it for 7 years and it actually hurts to see things change so much and get out of hand that it's like losing a friend. That may sound sad to casual players, but dedicated players will know the feeling. It's this feeling of loss of familiarity that breeds so much of the discontent, frustration, and anger that's been spewed on this forum for so long. Old players would get a short window back in time to get to play the old League we were so attached to. I GUARANTEE you that you would get players back if they knew that this weekend they'd get to play old style champions they used to love. And not only would they just come back, that they'd actually enjoy things more. New players would get a sense of how things were and see how they've changed over time, and give them a better understanding of the origins of this game. If a new player started playing this game today, they just see a fast-paced game where people frequently get frustrated and where the game can be extremely hard to come back from a bad game. (Not going to go into the mechanics of making a comeback, that's not the point of this discussion. It would only breed negativity. We've got plenty of that going around.) They have no idea how things have changed over time, and have ZERO appreciation of the changes that have happened over time. This would be another way to emulate the success of WoW: They leave all the old content in place for older players to re-live the nostalgia of their previous experiences. If you played it way back before BC, you can still use a level 60 champ and go do UBRS and ZG. With the way the League client works, I understand that you can't have overlapping content like this, so offering a featured game mode that temporarily allows this nostalgic content could help bridge the gap and frustration felt between old players and new ones. If they could go back to say Season 1 or Season 2, they'd see a COMPLETELY different game. They'd see just how different things used to be. While I understand that their personal playstyle and attitude may not be different, they'd at least get a glimpse into Riot's history. I feel like this is a huge part of what's missing from Riot. Legacy. Show off all that you guys have accomplished over the years by letting folks see the past from time to time. Let new players appreciate the fact that they now get awesome stat buffs from dragon and no longer have to deal with the headache of the Fortify summoner spell. That's my 2 cents. Thanks for reading. -Rags

[slayer-pantheon-rainbows] RIOT READ THIS NOOOWW. Your right, they should do thay. Now, I've only been playing for 4 months, but I would still like to see how even more broken lux was before. Though how would new characters fit into that?
