Piltover Champion Tales: "Champions May Die" pt. 4
STREETS OF PILTOVER, 10AM Vi was coming back from her favourite StarGuardians, just one of the many café's of the chain. She had a paper bag in one hand and a macchiato in the other. Suddenly, she felt a chill down her spine. She stopped and looked around, ready for a fight. “Hey there”. Vi threw the cup still full in the direction of the voice and activated her right gauntlet, making her fist gigantic. Before her stood a shadow. A physical shadow, seeing how it had grabbed the cup mid-air. “Thanks, but I prefer my coffee black” said a voice behind her. Vi turned around, knowing who her opponent was but not why he was there. “What are you doing here, ninja?” she asked. To a shadow. Which shrugged its shoulders and pointed its finger to indicate behind her. She looked at the side where she had thrown the cup, expecting a shadow yet again, just to see Zed, sipping from her cup. “I have to say, this is better than I expected” the ninja said. “You know you’re starting to piss me off?” she said, half serious half jokingly, while making her gauntlet small again. He became serious, walked up to her to give her the cup back and asked “have you caught the Golden Demon yet?”. Vi looked at him, confused. “You mean Sona’s killer? You know him?” Vi asked, shocked. Zed’s face became darker. “Don’t say him. That thing’s not human. You may have seen Sona die by its hands, but he has killed many, many more” his tone was low, afraid, as if he was recalling the scenes “all its victims were not only just killed, they were brutalized and disrespected, until it felt its work was perfect” Zed was shivering in fear just from remembering all he had to witness with Shen and his master. He looked Vi in the eyes “It thinks its killings are pieces of art”.
PILTOVER SHERIFF’S STATION, 10AM “Didn't I already tell you that I hate when you come in uninvited?” Caitlyn said, irritated. “Ms. Sheriff, you are the law here, and I am the order. In cases like this you and me need to cooperate” Camille replied, then looked at Ekko “the boy who shattered time. I still can’t grasp that ability of yours, but it seems like you are not able to come and go as you please in time. I would advise you don’t use it too much, your body seems to have aged more than it should’ve”. The boy looked at her a little shocked, then recovered and said “I can take care of myself, robo-lady-with-knives-as-legs”. “Hehehehe” the light laughter came from the cell. All the three of them looked shocked at the girl inside. That was not the hysterical, maniacal, over the top laugh she usually had. That was a pretty girly and soft laugh. All of them were left speechless, with their mouths hanging open. “I may be no doctor, but I’m pretty sure she must have received a big shock lately, she’s changed too much”. The voice came from behind them. Still shocked the trio turned around and there was Shen. “Ok, this is getting repetitive and out of hand!” Caitlyn said “what is everyone doing in here today?” she said, a little exasperated. Shen looked at her, then bowed a little and said “I’m sorry to be interfering with your work, but I think I have information that could be useful to you and want to cooperate to catch the Golden Demon”. Before any of them could reply he stood up again and continued “before that however I’d advise on freeing the girl and getting her something to eat, she seems famished and she may know something useful too”. “Yohooo cupcake, I got ya something to...” Vi stopped herself on the stairs, looking at the strange bunch “I think I’ll have to make another trip to StarGuardians”.
