New Support Champion

Trap or a Trick·3/19/2017, 5:49:43 PM·12 votes·1,342 views

I feel like I'm probably alone in this regard but, I want a new support, unlike the others, I want a sort of Debuff/Curse support, like attack speed slow, attack damage slow, a zone where cd's are slightly longer, or stuff like that, obviously the last one would be op as heck, but I really thing whis could be a cool sort of support champ. Imagine a mixture of Affliction Warlock and DK from world of Warcraft, but as a support. Anti-magic zones, Debuffing dots, Maybe even something ive been falling in love with earlier too, Minion support (nunu top, max w, banner of command, zzrot, sightstone. ITS SO MUCH FUIN!!!)

Once again I feel like I'm alone on this but let me know if I am, Upvote if you agree, downvote if you don't, Let me know what your opinion is by writing a comment :D

The thing is... debuffs and utility abilities are just more transparent than, say a Zyra support, eating about a quarter of the enemy's ADC health by successfully rooting them and planting nearby plants. A general reaction from their ally ADC would be, "Wow, that poke damage just hurt him/her real bad," because the difference is just so easy to notice and the change is quick.

As oppose to say...

A Mr/Armor reduction debuff cast on an enemy which is harder to notice, and usually when the enemy gets hit and dies (especially a tank), a proper reaction would be, "Oh, they just removed about a quarter of my resistances, so that one ADC shot just obliterated me."

What I'm saying is:

  1. A support who filled that niche would be nice but...
  2. Creating and Executing a kit for a champion without causing problems would be hard like...
  3. Factors such as counterplay for both the enemy should be there whilst making it not feel like a dump to play AS that champ.
  4. Making the champion fun to play as and AGAINST.
  5. Finding a theme for a sort of champion like this.
  6. Some of the debuffs you listed are kinda infuriating to play against.
  7. How would that champion scale? How do they get stronger as the game progress considering how their abilities would (I assume) mostly consist of debuffs or buffs aka enchantments.

Balancing all of this out would be difficult, but if done well right, RITO would have a huge payoff and it would be one unique champion with a unique playstyle just like Bard. (He's not a perfect champion, but he seems to me the best example I could find for this type of niche. He's unique for sure especially that ultimate and those portals).

Oh, but I don't want to discourage anyone who want to try a take on a support champion that fulfills OP's wish. Go ahead.

I'd like to link you guys to this thread: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/FATjc04B-supporategist It's about making a support into a strategist instead, maybe a new champion could be created out of that? The comments point out well that it'd be hard to make a champion "fun" without adding some damage, which I can agree to some degree.

I thought of this a while ago and personally liked the idea of a void support champion who inflicts debuffs with venom. It is also long overdue for riot to release a new void and support champion.

Original Sona had auras which buffed allies - effects were strong, but hardly noticeable. This is a similar problem.

Saying that, I like the idea of having different control zones; this may allow the support to split up the enemy team - very effective supporting.

Debuff supports get suggested a lot. The case against them tends to be more compelling than the case for them, unfortunately. Buff and debuffs are equally visible, so that's not a factor. Buffs make allies feel more awesome. Debuffs make enemies fell less awesome. So all things being equal, buffs are just better psychologically.

Now if you're looking for something disruptive, that's a different story. Soraka's silence could be construed as an "anti-magic zone." But a silence is had CC, not a debuff.

We'd be more likely to see something along the lines of. . .

Nameless Piltover Anti-hero, the bane of Camille.

Bio: Piltovian rouge who likes to troll the upper class. Probably out of boredom.

Passive: Pass credit Nameless' AA's and abilities deal 50% damage to non-minions and apply "Credit" for 5 seconds. Credit is equal to 70% of the damage Nameless would otherwise deal and stacks infinity. Allies that AA a marked target deal bonus damage equal to the credit.

Q: The bird Send a super bird to follow target ally for 3 seconds, granting them 5-15% damage reduction. The next champion that does damage to the target is dive-bombed, applying a .25/1.5 second stun. Target loses the damage reduction when the bird kamikazes a champion.

W: Nope Nameless throws a glitter bomb at target location. Enemies caught in the blast are slowed by 10-50% for 3 seconds. Enemies in the center of the blast are silenced and disarmed for 1.5 seconds.

E: Lemonade? Nameless takes a sip from a tea-cup (WITHOUT EXTENDING THE PINKY!), then throws the rest in target direction. Effect is based on what the tea-cup hits and lasts 3 seconds. Movement is not disabled during the cast time.

Allied champion: +10-30 MS. Doubled when chasing Nameless. Enemy champion: .25-.5 second root as they wonder what just happened. Allied minion: +25% damage reduction while they wear it as a hat. Also applies to player minions (Tibbers, Ghouls, crabs, Daisy, etc.) Enemy Minion: Disarmed for 2 seconds as they drink the Tea Lemonade. Baron, Elder Dragon, and TT Spider (Name?): .25 second fear. What kind of monster would be brave enough to throw tea-cups at them!? Nothing: Creates a small area filled with broken porcelain and grounds enemies. Piltovian enemies suffer 1 true damage per second as they realize there was no tea.

R: gg. ez. Nameless pulls a rocket launcher out of thin air, covers his eyes, and fires it behind him (in target direction). Enemies hit directly are knocked aside. When the rocket reaches max range, it explodes backwards, knocking nearby enemies behind it towards him.

Type in "Stella, the Tactical Magician" into the search bar. It's a champion Concept I made a couple days ago that fits your description.
