Everquest has 21 expansions and people still play it. The reason why people hate WoW isn't because it's overdone on the expansions. They hate WoW because Blizzard has honestly run out of lore ideas or had characters do complete one-eighty heel turns on their characterizations provided in previous content.

I mean shit, perfect example of this is Garrosh Hellscream who at first was a conflicted youth because he only knew his father to have been the one Orc to betray their race to the Burning Legion (Along with Gul'Dan but who cares at this point they retconned it all), and then finds some semblance of family in Garrosh's blood-brother Thrall. Then in WotLK he's still understandably distrusting of humans and the Alliance, and at the end of it gets left with the mess of the Horde that Thrall left it in to become Green Jesus.

Cataclysm saw him grow as an instinctive and brash leader who was stern but mostly fair with the Horde, whereas Mists of Pandaria saw him go full Chaotic Stupid and become a megalomaniacal nationalist and xenophobe who threatened to kill any Horde race that so much as entered Orgrimmar unless they were a Greenskin. Not even the Amani trolls were exempt from this. Then, he time travels into the past and creates a divergent timeline because what better to get his revenge than an angry army of Orcs led by his not-dead-now father?

He challenges Green Jesus to an honor duel of ONE WEAPON OF CHOICE, NO ARMOR, FINAL DESTINATION. Only to promptly beat Thrall's face in before he gets tired of it and by technicality cheats through elementalism because Green Jesus and his ragtag band of misunderstood warmongers totally didn't screw anything up at all.

But that's just the tip of the colossal iceberg of Social Justice undertones pandering and other assorted malarky that's haunted Warcraft for the past several expansions now. I mean you can have Stereotypical Chinese accented Foo Dog/Shi who LITERALLY go 'THE GREAT REGACY OF OUR PEOPLE but HEAVEN FORBID you have a flamboyantly gay dragon. The TRAVESTY.

even though WoW is dying slowly but surely I still like the concept of the art work.
