“What If” Story I Wrote About Ezreal and Rek’Sai

I got bored and wrote a “what if” story based off of one of Ezreal’s field notes called “The Sand Mother” that was on the runeterra map. I’m sorry for what you’re about to read. https://i.imgur.com/8Msdny3.png “I wonder what dog shit tastes like…” Ezreal thought to himself. He spit out the shuriman candy he stole from the last town he visited. “Bet it would taste better than that…” After a moment, he chuckled to himself. “Good one, Ezrea-“ BING BANG BONG! Ezreal’s moment of self satisfaction was cut short. Some idiot was going ape shit on a bell. “She’s here!” Bah Pleebo cried out, “Go, go!” He urged the caravan into action with a single shout. Tehkuolobetr clasped his hands together and began to pray. Jim continued to bang on the bell. “Have all of you lost your damn minds? What the hell is going on-and could you relax!?” Ezreal shouted, indicating Jim. He was clearly annoyed by the sudden commotion, having to speed up so as not to be left behind. (His camel riding skills left much to be desired.) He’d always known the Shuriman people to be eccentric but this was absurd. “It’s her! The Sand Mother!” Bah Pleebo shouted back. “Hurry!” “Sand Mother… Didn’t I write something about that?” Ezreal thought to himself. He tried to remember where he’d heard that name before. As he pondered, he peered around to see if he could spot this enigma. https://i.imgur.com/PiuRgaE.png It didn’t take long before his eyes fixated on a distinct, fin like protrusion that seemed to be trailing them. Twisting in his seat, he squinted and took aim. It was close enough. “I got this” Ezreal proclaimed with an arrogant smirk, before firing a single shot of mystical blue energy in the beast’s direction. To his disappointment, it struck the ground just a few feet off target. He took aim again but decided that it was getting a little too close for comfort. When he turned back around to gain more speed, he realized that the rest of the group was much farther ahead. With panic setting in, he beseeched the camel to run faster, but it was too late. That ‘thing’ had caught up with him, approaching his flank. In an instant, it popped out of the ground and came down on the camel in an explosion of force and a shower of sand. Luckily, Ezreal was able to teleport to safety before he was caught in the attack. He landed on his stomach, rather perturbed by the situation he’s found himself in. He looked back to see his ride getting royally fucked by the now unobscured behemoth. After that, Ezreal just ran. https://i.imgur.com/hTAKolI.png What else does one do in a scene like this, just stand still? The brute noticed and began to follow him. And that’s when he finally remembered where he heard the name “Sand Mother” from. Some old coot tried to warn him of Rek’Sai, a particularly large void monster, who hunts in this region of the desert. It was when he stopped by Marrowmark to procure some food for the journey. That guy smelled like a corpse rolled in gromp shit. He was also really touchy. Definitely an unpleasant experience. His brain was probably trying to do him a solid by tossing that memory out. Anyway, the weasel might’ve also said something about it hunting using vibrations, too. Ezreal’s eyes widened. As that memory came back to him, he stopped in his tracks. Unfortunately, it didn’t seem to fool her. As the horrifying monster advanced towards him, he only had one option left. He steeled his nerves, struck a stance, and aimed his gauntlet at the creature’s alien figure. “Time for Plan B” https://i.imgur.com/uRlxP7s.png Ezreal mustered all the power he could into this one shot. He recognized the direness of this confrontation- it was all or nothing. The gauntlet began to hum and radiate an intense yellow light. An arch of magical energy formed around it like a bow. Ezreal himself felt as if he were pulling back the bow string of a mighty ballista. A searing hot nova of magnificent destruction materialized in front of him. The monster was closer now. Ezreal, despite undergoing a tremendous amount of physical exertion, grinned in eager anticipation. “You’d better run.” At that moment, Ezreal was truly feeling himself. With a yell, he unleashed a cataclysmic blast of energy. The leviathan of the desert, dwarfed in the light of imposing extinction, shrieked in agony. The death-dealing bombardment set ablaze the sea of sand, and produced a booming roar that crushed the repulsive screams of its victim. https://i.imgur.com/InEXNIy.png Unable to triumphantly smile, it was Ezreal who was in agony now. With his ears ringing and his body soaking wet, he laid on his back gasping for air. When the dust settled, all that remained was a sweltering trail of blood and a large, misshapen tunnel. Only one question remained: how the hell is he getting home? https://lolstatic-a.akamaihd.net/frontpage/apps/prod/kaisa-reveal/es_AR/962ddda44ebe6f69c9103996d717a2ae0f1640c4/assets/img/global/accents/pull-quote-decorator.png
