Jaguar, the Proud Warrior

A warrior dressed like an Aztec, wearing a jaguar skin and headdress. He is carrying a small shield, and an obsidian sword, known as a macuahuitl. As his passive stacks increase, his headdress and clothing becomes more ornate.

Abilities:

Passive: Warrior Culture
  1. Due to intense warrior training, Jaguar is unable to be feared; however his pride causes enemy taunts to have increased effectiveness upon him.

  2. Victories on the battle field increase Jaguar’s armament in battle. Kills and assists give Jaguar armor and magic resistance per stack, up to a cap of four. However, all stacks are lost upon death.

    Q- Obsidian Saw Blade

Upon activation, swings obsidian sword in an arc in target direction. If the arc strikes a minion or small monster, it cuts through them dealing damage. If it connects with an enemy champion, the blade stops and deals them damage, latching onto the enemy for a limited time. Latched enemies and Jaguar are locked together the same distance apart that they were when the ability landed. Jaguar loses the ability to move click while locked, and all movement is dependent upon the latched champion. If the enemy moves while caught, it deals added rend damage depending on the distance the enemy champion travels. The ability can be reactivated to immediately disengage and deal a reduced amount of rend damage.

    W-War Cadence/Victory Shriek

Activated ability. If Jaguar’s hp is lower than the enemy champion, he shouts a war cadence, recovers a slight amount of health and gains a momentary speed boost. If Jaguar’s hp is higher than the enemy’s, he gives a victory shriek, gaining an attack damage bonus and all nearby enemies are feared. Enemies closer to Jaguar are feared for longer duration. With multiple enemy champs near by, the cry he gives is dependent upon the average health of all enemy champions in the radius around him compared to Jaguar’s health.

    E-Feigned Retreat

This is a targeted direction ability. Upon activation, Jaguar is stealthed and a clone walks in the direction of the indicated arrow. If Jaguar lands a basic attack before the stealth duration ends, the attack criticals for varying amounts of damage depending on level. Activating another ability or item, taking damage or attacking before the duration ends will reveal Jaguar immediately.

    R-Sacrificial blessing

Jaguar draws upon the power of the gods, offering them a blood appeasement for a stats increase. The targeted champion takes a set amount of magic damage. Defense and reduced disable time boosts are given to Jaguar when used on an enemy champion, or increased attack damage and cool down reduction are given to Jaguar and his nearby teammates when used upon an ally.

    Game play and tactics

Jaguar is a mano-a-mano, situational front liner. He thrives best in solo combat in the top lane, where he can stick to his opponents and wear them down through a combination of offensive and defensive options. Making good trades and keeping an eye on both yours and your opponent’s health bars is key to his war cadence/victory shriek ability, and should be used wisely. Knowing when it is best to save a feigned retreat to get back to your turret or to go all in can make the difference between a seasoned warrior and a novice. Obsidian saw blade is his primary offensive option for dealing hefty damage and wearing his opponent down. When he hits level six, his survivability and offensive power are greatly increased by Sacrificial Blessing.

For a good trading combo, use E to get in close while they are distracted by the clone, landing an AA for the extra damage. If at this point the enemy's health bar is low, activate Victory Shriek for the increased damage. Immediately land an Obsidian Saw Blade and let the feared enemy run for the increased rend damage.

The moment your jungler comes in for a gank only increases the potential for bloodshed. Lock onto them with Q as they begin to run, forcing them to either stay and fight you both or take the extra escape damage. Use Sacrificial Blessing on your jungler to help wear down the enemy. Then when they get low, use Victory Shriek to seal their fate.

If things go bad for you in your trades and/or the enemy jungle comes in to catch you unawares, immediately hit War Cadence to give yourself a little more distance before activating Feigned Retreat. If you were running in a straight line towards your turret, the enemy will have no idea if you've activated it or not, and you'll be able to juke as need be in order to get back to the safety of the temple.

When the teamfight stage arrives, Jaguar is one of the first into the fray, locking onto enemy champs out of position and giving them the choice to run and take increased q damage, or to stay and face the rest of your team coming for them. Also, using Sacrificial Blessing on the team’s tank (you know he can take it) gives the whole team a boost to their raw power and damage output, whether they’re an ADC, bruiser, or a back line Mage.

It's key to realize that if Jaguar's E is on cooldown, he's vulnerable to ganks and flanking maneauvers. Also, opponents like Shen, Galio and Rammus enjoy matching metal with the proud warrior, as he can't help but recklessly launch himself at them when they taunt him.

Jaguar is a powerful warrior of a proud heritage, and his abilities grant him the power to conquer all of his foes, making them the next sacrificial victims upon the altar. Stop him before his blade stops your heart.

I don’t have a background story, nor even a name for the character more than ‘Jaguar’. But this is a champion archetype and some mechanics that I think would be fun to play on League.

Also, the exact numbers of stats and ratios are the kind of thing that Riot would have to balance anyway, so I figured I would leave that for them to decide. Nor am I any good at any type of art, so I don't have a picture.
Comments and ideas are welcome. I'm good at mechanics, but I can't really flesh out the character's story or personality much more. More than anything else, I'd like to see if Riot could make something awesome from this.

P.S. I realize that his E is just a slightly enhanced version of Wukong's W, but I believe the increased function of being able to direct the clone to walk in a certain direction increases his potential, as well as his risk of failure.

Questions and Suggestions: His Passive is ridiculously situational and the stacking resistances just aren't rewarding enough because it doesn't stack beyond 4. It feels a bit like a glass ceiling which can be improved on, or potentially scale endlessly? :T Even with that, it's slightly upsetting that he can lose and gain full stacks so easily all the time, since he doesn't have to commit too much for an easy 4 assists. Immunity to fear and increased effectiveness of taunts is a pretty bad mechanic for a passive. It doesn't matter in most matchups and can simply feel toxic in a lot of scenarios (example: Fiddlesticks loses one spell, Nocturne loses one spell, Rammus screws him harder than he does already). I'd suggest coming up with an idea with more interactivity and diverse usage rather than something that feels like a Hidden Passive due to how rarely it'll see use. Does Q disable his ability to auto attack or cast spells, or just movement? I don't see how he can attack freely with his sword in someone else nor how the enemy can still move at normal speed with him dragging them down. If Q is intended to keep Jaguar in range for auto trading, shouldn't it be about the same range as his basic attack? Without unit range values, we don't know how strong or weak this ability is. The W is a bit weird, not from the thematics side but from the gameplay side. I mean, a fear is more useful for disengaging and fleeing a losing battle, and a movement speed boost is better for engaging and forcing a winning battle. The heal calculation range on W should also be specified: does he only consider nearby champions or does he average off the % health of all enemies within 1000 range? Also, % health comparison rather than base health (like Irelia's stun calculation) is a good idea, considering that being next to both a tank and ADC is rather confusing for those "Should I use my yell now, or wait for a bit?". Unless the health is supposed to give him different strategies against squishy and tanky targets, in which case this skill is pretty much useless depending on the matchup. The E is okay, potentially interesting, but why does taking damage reveal him? Taking damage and activating items don't usually reveal other stealth champions, so why him? Makes him pretty useless against continuous damage or anything like Flamespitter or any situation where the enemy champion was about to hit you in the first place or against RANGED MINIONS WHO ALREADY THREW THEIR ATTACKS just fix it. You should never be able to hurt your ally directly, regardless of the situation. That ultimate should only be activateable on himself, not on any escaping ally ADC who can maybe add to your killing spree. Seriously, that's pretty toxic. Overall, the ultimate is a ball of stats that be a bit confusing ("wait, which one gives cooldown reduction again?"). Not the best thought out, but on the right track theme wise. That's all for now. In terms of archtype and mechanics, you've stayed pretty true to your design of Aztec warrior. Keep working on it :) Reviewer, away!summoner 4
