If they remove Tarics "Gems? Gems are truly outrageous. They are truly, truly, truly outrageous." line from the the game I will probably quit league.

I believe the difference lies in what they were supposed to be. SIon was meant to be an undead warrior, not a ball of references or silly jokes. Gangplank was meant to be a terror of the seas and of pirates, not a copy and paste pirate.
But with Taric, his identity does lay quite a lot with gems. He wasn't made a serious character with silly lines. He was honestly quite the nice guy in his lore, so I believe he will not be as serious as the others. Taric didn't suffer from an identity crisis like GP and Sion.
I think the reason Sion and Gangplank have such serious stories in their reworks is because the used to just be generic jokes about what they were (Sion making Schwartzenegger references and Gangplank being Pirate jokes).
Contrast that with Tristana's thematic rework, where her voice and appearance were changed drastically, but her themes and concepts were the same. I think this is because she was designed as a less serious character from the start and had a specific personality (tiny and friendly, but excessively trigger-happy), so they were happy with that. Taric is also designed as a silly character, so that personality may not change much if they take the same principle with him.
He has a specific personality (simultaneously soothing and flamboyant jokester) that a lot of people love, so I don't see it changing much. At most they might just give him a broader range of jokes to make if his VO is updated.
TARIC... is the bot lane supp. He'll always save the day. And if you think he can't, he'll always find a way. All the people of this lane... believe in... DAZZLE, SHATTER, and IMBUE... AND GEMCRAFT!
Poppy is next for a "Sion-level" rework.
They only said Taric is getting one as well, not that he's next.
God no. Please, Don't ruin Taric... Just buff him, it's all he needs.
