My Take on what Should be Done with Fiddlesticks
Hello. I would just like to start off by saying, I spend a lot of time thinking about the current game state and what should be don't with certain champs (And I've felt like putting my opinion in the forums for a while), but this is my first time using the forums in a legitimate way so... sorry if I have this poorly formatted. I am starting my test run of the forums with Fiddlesticks because he is a champion i used to just love, who has really fallen off. I'm going to start by explaining what I believe is the problem with him and then go onto what i think his abilities should change to be. Thanks ahead of time for your feedback, and if this gets some attention I'll try to post more of my opinions.
The Problem With Fiddlesticks
I believe poor old Fiddlesticks has been one of the worst champions in the game for a while now. Why is that? Fiddlesticks suffers from being a very low mobility champ in a game all about moving around. But he also lacks a 'fun factor'. He has a very boring and not very unique kit, and he doesn't really fit the style of league of legends. First off, you have his passive, which is one of the least interesting things in any champions kit. For those of you who don't know (and I don't blame you), Fiddle's passive is dread, which reads "Fiddlesticks's abilities reduce his targets' magic resistance by 10 for 2.5 seconds, with subsequent casts refreshing the duration." This is, as a whole, just a boring and not very unique passive, especially when you take into consideration that there is an item with almost the exact same effect
. Then you have his Drain and Crowstorm, which both are channeled. The problem with his Drain is that MOBAs in general are unique because their ability to have high mobility spells. I will go into Drain and Crowstorm when I talk about what I believe his abilities should be. You also have his Terrify and Dark Wind, which are also very boring and not fun to play with or against. But I think the most important flaw with Fiddle is that he doesn't fit the "Harbinger of Doom" feeling. This is what I kept in mind while making this kit. (Keep in mind I suck at names, so I am keeping the ability names the same because anything I come up with will most likely suck. I also suck at numbers so ill stay away from those for the most part)
Auto Attacks
This is a brief but important note. I feel like is auto attacks are really boring and don't look good, especially for a scythe wielder. I think his AAs should be changed to melee range, which also makes it feel better with the new Drain I've put together.
Passive-Dread
As I stated before, Dread feels very boring, but I never mentioned the fact that is just overall bad. I believe this should be changed to "Fiddlesticks hangs dread over the last champion he got a take down on, dealing and extra (10%/15%/20% ?) damage to them"
I think this will help fit him more to the "Harbinger of Doom" theme while being a unique mechanic that no one else has anything like. You might say, "Oh, what about cooldown" and well, to answer that I don't think it should have one, this mechanic is designed to help him gank early, specifically camp a lane. The fact that it goes to the last person killed also gives it some counter play I believe.
Q-Terrify
I personally believe that the fear mechanic is actually a fun one, but it lasts a bit long, especially for a point click. I think it should be changed to, "Fiddlesticks terrifies champions facing him, fearing for (1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 / 2.25) seconds." I think it should be like Cassiopeia's ult, but definitely smaller, maybe about the size of Darius' Apprehend. This keeps his (relatively) fun and unique fear affect, but giving it some counter-play while keeping it from feeling like Nocturne. Maybe give it a small cast time to make it easier to play around. Give this a rather long cooldown to keep it balanced since it is a pretty strong effect.
W-Drain
Oh boy, here comes the time to critique what is probably the most iconic ability of his kit. As i stated previously, the problem with Drain is that it leaves you immobile, so I tried to keep it balanced without ruining what makes it iconic. "Fiddlesticks tethers himself to the target enemy, slowing the enemy by (10%,15%,20%,25%,30%) and Fiddlesticks by (1/3rd more) and dealing (balanced) damage a second for 5(?) seconds. Fiddlesticks is healed for (40%,45%,50%,55%,60%)." Maybe the healing is a bit too high and it lasts a bit too long, but it's not easy to keep this balanced, which is probably the reason Riot has struggled with it. I also made it slow both but Fiddle more, maybe it shouldn't slow the opponent at all but Fiddle needs some loving for his cold, dead heart. Maybe this will give him the affection he needs.
E-Mind Games
"Fiddlesticks controls a copy of himself at the target location, the copy deals hald Fiddlesticks' damage and copies his abilities. The clone lasts for Ten seconds"
This may seem strange, and i can hear you asking, "Well whats so good about this? What did you mean by control it?" I think this ability should have massive range (Like Twisted Fate's Ult sized). Calling it mind game for a reason, it allows fiddle to apply pressure even if he's far away. The clone is an exact copy of fiddle, but does't share cooldowns with Fiddle and can't use summoner spells. While Fiddle is using this his main body is completely vulnerable, do being positioned in the wrong place can lead to death, since the ability cannot be canceled. Maybe this is a bit much, and doesn't fit the harbinger of doom theme, but it is unique and goes well with the madness theme. When talking cooldowns and mana costs, this should definitely be on the heavier side, since it such a powerful ability.
Alternative E
Obviously, Mind Games is a bit much, and doesn't fit this specific kit much, so i came up with an alternative if the previous E.
"Fiddlesticks marks a target, the target begins to see 4 other Fiddlesticks, these can be attacked but are only look real to the target, to all other players they look like fiddlesticks, but with no walking animation or abilities." I don't have much to say about this one, I like the concept but it is probably a really hard one to put into the game.
R-Murder of Crows
I personally really enjoy the crow theme, but since his other abilities stray i decided to kill two crows with one stone (heh).
"Fiddlesticks transforms into a murder of crows, becoming untargetable and dashing to a enemy, dealing damage to champions on the way. Can dash to a tethered target even if they're out of the normal range.(20,15,10 second cooldown)"
I figured low cooldown ults are really fun to play with, stuff like Quinn and Karma. I wanted to help fix his mobility issues whilst helping his teamfight. I figure the damage should be quite low, since it has a small cooldown. It also helps him become more durable. Obviously not a very large dash, since it has to be shorter than Drain for the second part of the text to work.
After thoughts
I tried to make Fiddle feel a bit more like a AP bruiser, but maybe it is a bit more of an assassins kit, I guess that depends on the numbers though. I spent a lot of time thinking about this, and writing it... So i appreciate all feedback! It really would make my day if a rioter replied, but I feel like most people don't care about my ideas.
