Imminent Doom (Morde VGU Ideas)
Mordekaiser's last rework was in my opinion and many others a disaster, and I, as a
main, would like to see him go in the proper direction. I would prefer to see him return to the top and mid lane, and as a juggernaut/tank. His lore makes him sound like a super tank with pretty decent damage output and low mobility, most likely with some AOE damage. The issue is with his current state which almost captures that image, he is virtually unplayable in the current meta. Almost all of the champions you see have some kind of dash or cc. **He does not. **I have put some thought into this issue and brainstormed some ideas.
The first thing riot could do is a quick bandaid fix, you know add a stun to Q or a slow to W/castable on enemies, and his winrate and play rate will go up by a small margin. This would only be there until his big rework is complete, which I have further ideas about.
The Ultimate
ult right now is good, and unless you do a lore rework I dont think you could get away without using it. It would be interesting if you made it so
would devour his victims enslaved soul if he dies, making him revive unless they kill the ghost. I feel as of right now it is so easy to counter and makes him virtually useless in tf when he is behind, because all they have to do is kill him and its a 4v4 again, killing 2 birds with one stone. However the Ultimate is standing on a knifes edge right now and what I proposed would probably make it overpowered. If it so happens that you actually use that it would be best to get rid of the dragon ghost, which would make him unkillable.
The Giant Rework
I got my inspiration for this idea by the pulsefire
skin, and I would at least like Riot to release a skin similar to that for
. Since he is technically from the shadow isles I think he should have something to do with souls, and a passive like this would work for a 3 stage evolving model. It would raise his skill ceiling and lower his skill floor too, which I would love. Killing enemies (minions would give less then champions) would give
souls, which give him a slight boost to his HP, and at max souls he could ascend -using this term lightly- to the next tier, growing in size and gaining additional effects on his abilities. The three tiers would essentially change his role in the team composition, almost like
. He would first be a champion like
, a diver with minimal armor, basically a wraith form. Then he would ascend to the more classic
size and shape, acting as a more streamlined Juggernaut then before, kinda a tyrant form. Finally he would become a giant tank, huge and heavily armored, I think calling it the immortal form would be cool. The immortal could have an activated(think of mace of spades) or passive knockback effect on basic attacks , and aoe damage on basic attacks . Think like Sauron in LOTR Opening Scene. This would be a pretty cool effect that no melee champion has yet, but
kinda does.
Another concept for his main passive is similar to
, but based on
lore. I thought since his bones are the key to his reincarnation, what if Riot did a lore update and made
keep his bones with him since he has lost faith in his lackeys. This passive could also be similar to
passive before the mini bandaid. So when he dies, his armor or bones fight for him(like
passive) using only basic attacks. You must kill it or
will revive in like 7 seconds. LONG CD though.
There are some abilities I also brainstormed,
- Mace Charge,
uses his necromatic powers to charge forward, briefly terrifying all in his path. at the end of the dash he swings his mace and knocks back the enemies hit. (skillshot like
axe) - Horn Charge, I don't think this would fit his character much, but a headbutt that stuns and enemy champion would be nice.
- Trample, a passive ability that allows
to move through units and slow them by a little bit. - Maelstrom of Souls, another passive ability that works like a sunfire cape or like
E, strengthens based on souls enslaved. - Soul Rip, works like a modernized version of E but steals HP, like
Q but a cone. (Read his lore, its an essential ability) - Nightfall #1, makes his next basic attack call down a lightning strike, slowing enemies in the area.
- Nightfall #2, Ive seen this suggested before on the boards. A skillshot leap that stuns enemies where he lands. I also feel like this doesnt fit his character well, but it would be an extremely useful ability, and would raise skill ceiling.
- Dark Will, activate to gain a shield for x% of your damage dealt for y seconds.(Not good with ratios, and it would require testing)
- Nightfall #3, next 3 basic attacks deal bonus damage and knock back everyone you hit but the target, with passive aoe basic attacks.
- Soul Devourer, enslaves the essence of his enemies souls by hitting enemy champions with abilities, filling his soul meter. Once he dies he then revives with HP equal to the percentage his soul meter is full. (PUT ON A LONG CD) If he survives the encounter and leaves combat, he regenerates HP for a percentage of his soul meter. I feel like it would make him a more feast or famine champion though...
All of these abilities in my opinion are viable, but I think that CC fits
more then mobility abilities. I would especially love it if he gains a knockback and aoe damage on basic attacks.
If Riot could take my ideas into consideration when crafting the eventual
VGU that would be great, because as a
main this is the direction I want to see him go in instead of a melee ADC. If fellow league players could tell me what they think about my ideas that would also be great. Hail
